Not really because coming out he was considered a DE/LB tweener which translate to a 3-4 LB and that is not a fit here. I could see those type of teams looking at him.

I just was using that as a reference point. Even though the Bears don't like doing it they did use the transition tag a couple of times when that was available for teams and they have used the franchise tag on Briggs. I personally see something getting done along the lines of how they reupped Cutler.I believe the money will be similar to the guaranteed money that MJD got in a similar situation with Jax since he has the same agent as MJD.I still feel that if he intends on getting DeAngelo Williams money then he maybe in for a tough negotiation that may drag through the season.

I say no because he is too light at 228 and would have to bulkup which is the knock on him from the Bills staff led by Wannie.
-
One other note is the Bears have the upperhand here and can let Forte play out his contract and franchise him just like they did Briggs.

Born and raised on the south side spent a few years living on the west side and now currently reside in Villa Park,Ill just west of Elmhurst and just east of Lombard.

Maybe what goes around comes around. He has a QB on his team that gets injured quite a bit. I'd hate to see some of his antics cause some retaliation to his own fragile QB.

Agreed. This is by far one of the dumbest rule changes in recent memory.I wonder which coach on the competition committee proposed this crap.First it was the elimination of the amount of players in the "wedge" the previous season and now this garbage. What next? The kickoff returns and punt returns are two of the most exciting plays in the game so why screw with them? Who gains an advantage in this offense or defense? I say defense so is this a backhanded way of evening up the score after about 25 years of tweaking the rules to favor the offense and scoring?

Last year during games there were graphics showing that Forte was over 1/3 of the Bears offense. I can't bring myself to envision a reason to trade Forte for that reason alone. Given this unique lockout forged season you have to believe that Martz's is going to lean heavily on Forte in his offense. The right and only thing to do is to give him a 3 year extension but tear up the last year of his rookie contract by giving him a big bump in salary this year. That way the shelf life question will only be for an additional 2 years beyond this season. I'm not sure Forte and his agent would go for that given the fact that DeAngelo Williams contract may be the target that they are shooting for. Once again the difference is that Forte has a contract and won't be unrestricted until after the season.

So far Lance Louis has been a training Camp star just like last year but in games he is showing that he is not a starter and should be replaced like last year. If ever there was a preseason game that followed that old cliche' "Defense is ahead of offense", this was it. Giving up 3 sacks in the first 9 snaps is discouraging to say the least but atleast they actually have game film to evaluate who can translate practice into production during games. The defense played well the whole game but 2 core rotation players got injured(Wooten and Bowman). This will give the staff a chance to give a good look to Gholsten how showed flashes and the 2 Moores (DJ and Josh). I too believe that the battle for backup RB may be decided soon if indeed Barber continues to impress and that would allow the Bears to do the right thing and cut Taylor early enough to try and catch on with another team. Bell will probably be that 3rd guy because of his special teams play. Trying to figure out why there is FBs on this roster, has me scratching my head because of what we saw last year from the offense often had the TE as the lead blocker. The team even showed som 2 TE sets with a FB against the Bills and I was shocked. There was a lot of great runs during the game but I really liked Unga's when he turned what looked like a one yard gain into a five yarder with a big pile of players that resembled a rugby play. I believe if he sticks it will be as a practice player. Goodbye Marcus Harrison, your injury is the main reason why you should show up to camp in shape. The possible extra WR spot isn't Sazenmachers to lose. The kid Adams from UTEP looked decent also.

The rumors that have been swirling the past couple of days have come true and the Bills have traded Lee Evans to the Ravens for a 4th round pick.

I guess I didn't get it right and have no idea what I did wrong because I'm not savy enough.Well if you drop me down on the depth chart I want to be traded to another board where I can be abused and enjoy it.

Visit My Website Salaam Heisman Ring Auctioned Balta I hope this is successful because I tried to follow your instructions coach.lol

CB yes no trade or yes you would make the trade?

I have no idea why there seems to be a media feeding frenzy at Bears' camp this year but ,I guess with 2 mediocre baseball teams in town what is the other sports news? Pompeii is starting to get a little full of himself IMO and I believe he as well as Hub Arkush have an axe to grind against the Bears.
-
Thank You and I hope I can follow your instructions right because it will be my maiden voyage.lol

I would make that trade in a heart beat because it is obvious tha Rodgers is a lot more accurate than Cutler and he has taken the same kind of beating over the years because unlike the Bears the packers draft o-linemen constantly and put them on the field.

He had to do this .If you heard how he talked to reporters and Morrissey directly Like Connorbear said he was wrong and acted like an ass. I give Morrissey credit because here locally he has the nickname the viper as a reporter and he didn't dwell on the negative incident but actually said he thought Drake was a nice guy after he calmed down. I must admit Drakes comments sounded like a protective father of one of his sons. Johnny Knox also chimed in with the "I wannabe a Bear for life" comment but we know that if he is allowed to test the waters he will go to the money.
-
Is that a shot or BS. Personally The President has been tried and true with his allegiance to Chicago Sports teams and has gone so far as to say he would never don Cub colors. I hope the reason they presented him with a shareholder's certificate is because he told them he would never hold up a packer jersey.

If most of you have heard the tirade by now that the Bears WR coach Darryl Drake had with reporters at camp yesterday, here is an update. Most of his venom was directed to Rick Morrissey of the CHGO Sun Times who was asking him direct questions about the situation with Knox. In his tirade he told Morrissey that he would read Martz's comments on his own and would come back and make a comment about them and then sped away in a golf cart. Well it turns out he was a man of his word and gave Morissey some info that he could post in an article on the Sun Times website(I admit I'm not computer savy enough to post a link so guys please help me out ).The good thing is that Morrissey didn't take it personal and Drake obviously apologized directly to him and then gave him the interview.

Jason I only disagree with the time span and believe the O-line has been poor since Blake Brockermeyer got hurt during the Jauron era.The previous year I could only name him,Big Cat and Kreutz as the core of that line and honestly since the line had problems when Wannie was here and Kramer was getting blasted,I believe we could almost say the problem is chronic.

DNT the only thing that worries me about any safety that the Bears have is that they seem to be the flavor of the month. If we rewind the tape we can see Mike Brown and Mike Green in the begininng. Then we can see Brown with a Brendan McGowan,Then Brown and Harris,Brown and Manning, then Manning and Payne etc. The safety position in this version of the Cover 2 has been hard to defind. The only safeties who have played in this version of the defense that I can recall who made the Pro Bowl are John Lynch and Bob Sanders. Both of whom are considered SS. Now according to Lovie the position is suppossed to be interchangeable but the 2 guywho have had the most success in this system recently were both Strong safeties which in most defenses tend to be closer to the line of scrimmage or "in the box" as many analysts point out. The fact that we have a MLB that can drop as deep as some safeties hides the fact that this staff has never really found the star safety they covet.

Yes that part and I have heard interviews here locally where Martz seems guarded in the words he uses about the situation. I also contend that when Drake did his rant with reporters he didn't mention anything about the snoozing rumors but he did try to dispel the trade rumor.

Cutler is a diabetic and that may be the sole reason he is making sure he maintains a certain weight.I have in the past felt he looked a little puffy but once I learned he was a diabetic I refrained from making comments about it. I remember the first Bear player who I new was a diabetic was Jay Leuenberger a formerC/G during the Wannie days. There was much talk about how he couldn't bulk up to play OG and then it was revealed that he was diabetic.I have no idea what those guys go through while playing such a physically demanding sport but I guess the Bears should know how to monitor something like that.
-
Flea you took only a part of the article you linked. When I read the whole thing it seems as though there is more to it than they are saying which gives more and more credance to the snoozing rumors.
-
Griz his comments sounds like he has assumed the leadership of the offense well.He is also saying all the right things from the team standpoint and for the organization. I also like how he hasn't given much thought to MJDs tweeting about him while MJD is doing a lot of explaining about his comments on Cutler.Honestly the more he tries to explain himself the more you realize he should never speak in public without someone writing down what he should say.
