  1. That is also correct and reading more detailed info on the situation you find out that the NFLPA wanted Pryor to fight the suspension for obvious reasons, but his Sleasenhaus representation says they will not pursue it. Why not? I believe they will wait until he is established in the NFL and then go after this ruling because for all intents and purposes this is a olive branch being thrown to the NCAA that has never been able to police their members.
  2. Lets all let this play out for a while. Roy Williams, who is atool like most so called #1 WR are has been saying all the right things and has shown that he can be a veteran leader for this group of young WRs. You can forget about Hester saying anything for the rest of the Summer now and Knox has a chip on his shoulder so he is focused on personal gain and the next time Bennett speaks will be a rare occassion, so one has to take the leadership role and he has done that. The fact that he is not in what could be considered Bears shape may be because he was not aware of just what Lovie and staff require. Say what you will about Lovie and staff but, they do demand that guys report in shape. Williams was with another organization for the past 3 years and its obvious they don't put a big premium on conditioning like the Bears do. Look how that team that was expected to contend started and got beat in their gorgeous stadium by the Bears. For all the experts that say the Bears were lucky healthwise, things like seeing them hold out Harrison because he didn't report to came at his prescribed weight and now making Bowman sit out practice even though he insist that he is fine is a testament to their anal approach to conditioning. A lot of the veteran players the Bears have let go you have heard rumors about their work ethic, with Tommie Harris being the most recent.
  3. The NFL per Adam Schefter is punishing him for trying to circumvent the supplemental draft rules. He didn't expand on what he did in particular to try and circumvent the rules. Any team that takes him must look at him as a draft pick for next season since he will not be able to play or practice with the team that selects him.
  4. I also heard a couple of rumors that the FO is insisting on them developing younger OL through some of the guys that cover the team and in particular Hub Arkush on the Score Sun.
  5. Martz confirmed that about 3 of the 9 sacks were attributed to the o-line and from my eyes it looked like both Hanie and Enderle were patting the ball or double clutching before throwing it. Enderle as big as he is got a couple of passes knocked down. They both also seemed to lock in on their receivers. BTW didn't Bennett and Knox as well as Des Clark have significant time in the game with Hanie?
  6. TT Tice may be on a save face mission with Webb since he worked him out before the Bears drafted him and gave his seal of approval. He is probably going to be stubborn about this one. Hopefully Louis illness can force him to miss a couple more practices and they will be forced to use this lineup on Mon Nite.
  7. I don't think its in his makeup. During the offseason he made a few in studio appearances with some of the local sportcasters and he came across as being kind of laidback IMO.Soft-spoken and somewhat intellectual. I have no problem with him being sort of a gentle giant but, that is not the guy who was described as someone who smacked Tice around in workouts prior to the draft. If you have heard Chris Williams interviewed, there isn't much difference in their demeanor IMO. Early during TC I saw a clip of Lovie giving it to Williams about his ugly goatee telling him"You outta shave that ugly thing off" and Williams just basically responded with I'm just tryin something different and Lovie repeated"You need to shave that ugly thing off". Obviously Lovie was miked up for the clip and was standing right in front of Williams and you could barely hear what his response was and he was in full pads and on the practice field. There is a world of difference between the way Williams and Webb sound as opposed to Carimi who seems very confident of himself.
  8. Martz says that Hanie is the backup unless "his arm falls off" and says that he will give Enderle a day to get some reps with the twos and that Hanie will get some reps with the ones.I guess end of story.
  9. Then you also remember Rob Johnson also.
  10. You're right and I believe it was them trying to tell us that Okwo was going to step up. The rumors were supposedly linked to the 9ers and Skins and both those opportunities dried up.
  11. All the hype that surrounded Matt Schaub when he was being sought after by teams reminds me of what is going down now with Kevin Kolb. I just feel that any team with arguably one of the best WRs in the game and have had two RBs that have done well with one being undrafted(Slaton and Foster) should have done more to make this team on a par with the team they are chasing the Colts. How do you do that? You improve your pass defense. This leads me to this point. If you were a few points away from the SB and your opponent knocked your QB out the game you need to improve your blocking. I guess dumb GMs think alike.
  12. I love when sports teams say someone's surgery was successful. We won't really know until you see him on the field and chasing down a QB.
  13. This was one of the teams I had in mind when I said those type of teams would look at him.
  14. Agreed like you mentioned he should have been one of those overzealous guys trying to prove that his level of comp in college didn't matter and he could block a former All-Pro LB Merriman. He should have been foaming at the mouth to go against Merriman especially since he practices against Peppers and Idonije everyday who are intense every practice.
  15. Lets think about the Texans for a minute, arguably they have two of the better young defensive players in the league in DeMeyco Ryans and Mario Williams, who is starting to justify being picked number one overall, both of their success has come in the 4-3 defense and now they have hired Wade Phillips who coaches the 3-4 and has Williams standing up now. The fact that this franchise didn't launch Kubiak after everyone believes this team has been on the verge of making the playoffs for the last two years has me questioning this GM's intelligence.I believe they needed to add in the secondary and give the previous DC some talent back there.
  16. It kind of is like what you see with the O-line they are going with their draft picks. Why else would Harrison still be here? He should be behind Gilbert and Bazuin at the nearest job fair with resume in hand.
  17. Evidently for the rest of camp he will get extended reps with the second team once a week.If that is the case then maybe once a week someone on the O-line should get to have his reps diminished for a day.Watching the video of Hanie walking off the practice field with his head down and not talking to reporters after he has been talking all camp, clearly tells me he was upset and today he is much better and talking again.Clearly neither he nor Enderle knew this was going to happen and that is what is puzzling to. As for Martz's like or dislike for Hanie, 2 drafted QBs and a washed up veteran and even checking the tires of Guttierrez in only 2 offseasons speaks volumes IMO.
  18. I read some more on the trib site and he clearly looks like he has gotten demoted. As it was reported that he was visibly upset leaving the field and declined to talk to reporters.
  19. No when they told him he had one hour to take it or they would move on? When Briggs played that whole year on the franchise tender and then was still allowed to hit free agency for an all-pro LB that was a pretty hard-lined stance. That was the same instance where they accused the 49ers of tampering with him. So IMO when a player winds up coming to the team's terms after a 2year period of negotiations and threatening to leave,he was involved in a hardball situation. I'm not sure but I also believe that was the year the Bears picked up Pisa.I'm not sure if it was before or after Briggs inked his deal. I just remember Lovie symbolically starting him off on the 2nd team because he wasn't at mini camps and OTAs because of the situation.
  20. ESPN CHGO is reporting that Nathan Enderle took the bulk of the 2nd team reps at practice today. The also claim that Lovie said it was based on the way they played Sat.
  21. You didn't specify when and I already mentioned them placing the tag on Briggs.
  22. I'm not sure the Bears don't consider Melton an option a DE if needed. They have enough bodies at DT to weather a temporary situation. Also like you said they do expect Wooten to be ready for the start of the season.
  23. Very good analysis and I relly like how he showed the clock timing the QB holding the ball. I feel he is correct about getting rid of the ball but ,I dispute the reason why they are holding it too long. Its been what most of the QBs Martz has coached has done hold the ball waiting for the longer routes to open up. His scheme has been notorius for giving up lots of sacks. I don't think it has anything to do with a " TC enternal clock".
  24. In a move that is polar opposite from what the staff with the Bears do with holdouts, the Giants immediately put their star DE back with the first team when he was cleared to play and announced he would practice under the terms of his current contract. I wonder if maybe he will use the upcoming game against the Bears to solidfy his case for a new deal. The game in the Meadowlands last season should have been on his personal highlight film for 2010.
