I think that Kris Adams is the WR besides Sazenbacher who has done the best in TC and preseason games so far and he not Onrea Jones has earned the right to compete until the last cut. Onrea Jones is a cut you make now with the idea that you can try to slip him on the PS.

az I agree and when you are in a timing offense you can't pat the ball twice before you throw it and if anyone knows anything about this quirky offense you have to be at the right spot as a wr so the QB must let the ball go and figure his WR is going to be there. Plus QB 101 says don't stare down your WR before you let the ball go. He is too inconsistent looking off the safety when throwing the intermediate routes.

Hamie made rookie mistakes in his second year in this offense in the preseason and he still locks in on his WRs and pats the ball a touch or two before he throws. Now I see what Martz was seeing and the problem is Enderle does the same thing. So what is the solution? Did Marc Bulger send his retirement letter to the league office? Whats Guttierrez doing? Its obvious that Hanie is still doing some of the things that was in the offense when Ron Turner called the plays and without Martz saying it, I had to figure it out for myself.

This first group of cuts will only amount to 6 players. The first cut has to be down to 80 players and the Bears have 86. 1) Rookie punter Spencer Lanning 2) Robert Hughes RB 3) #17 WR Jones 4) #76 Josh Davis OT 5) #60 Devin Miller LB 6) Laptad DE

Okay Pix you are starting to get me pumped! As for all of you who wish the Bears had gone after Plaxico Burress. Come on man! This team doesn't and will not sign FAs with checkered pasts. If he was a draft eligible player thats different because JA drafts those type of guys at times. Dusty Dvoracek,Tank Johnson and Marcos Harrison to name 3.Lets go all the way back to James Maness who played back on the Ditka led Bears a WR with speed that was rumored to have a drug problem.Rumor has it that he was so strung out that the players " narced" on him. When Paul Grasmanis had his domestic dispute with a girlfriend he was cut immediately. This team will never tolerate that kind of behavior and after getting rid of Tank Johnson because of his many gun violations the would look very hippocitical if they signed Burress.

Agreed Pix and who knows when the next big soccer match is going to be held there. I also am not sure that there won't be a college game or two there this fall. They have mishandled this field(The Park District) for years. I can remember back when Jim Harbaugh was playing on that monday night game where Cap Boso got that big clump of grass stuck on his helmet right at the goalline.

First of all its great that you do this and stay ture to who you are and again I too am disturbed about how Soldier's Field is being used. As I posted on another thread there was 3 HS games there yesterday so if the just installed sod there thats absolutely moronic. Hopefully they are installing the new turf now after the games because of the field being ripped up. Don't the Bears have a game there next Thurs? Then ATL on the 11th. This is plain stupid. Drunkn T you have been to TC and I know you have seen that most of the runs that is in Martz's offense is between the tackles so if Forte participates in preseason this is what he will have to endure. I will say that the Bears have gotten significantly better running screen passes under Martz.
-
Yesterday there was a HS triple header on the newly installed turf and that is the problem with the park district owning the field. The games featured some high profile Catholic HSs and some high profile Chicago Public HSs. Its good the kids get to play there but as fans of the professional team that utilizes that field I'm pissed. I doesn't make sense to install a field and then have 3 games on it in one day and expect it to hold up.

I agree with you and everyone else because with 2 games in 10 days its now or never.

The Giants blitzed last night and they blitzed last season with a DB off the corner. On the play when Giants Cb Thomas got hurt he was blitzing and got leg whipped his own man JPP. Last year on the play that finished Cutler for the night Aaron Ross blitzed off the corner clear and free and hit Cutler. On several occassions last night Jaws and Gruden pointed out how the Giants were coming on 3rd down and the Bears QBs needed to recognize it and hit the hot receiver. Since the Bears were so horrible on 3rd down it was good scheming on their part. I think it was a live by the sword die by the sword sort of thing when they lost 2 DBs in the game.
-
Like you said DBDB he didn't execute and that has been the knock on him since his stellar year under Martz in Detroit. He is very adept at getting off the line and open he just doesn't come up with the clutch catches. Earl Bennett when its all said and done will be Cutler's clutch go to receiver. BTW is it me or does it look like Des Clark's hands are on backwards. He is not catching anything and I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut.

Everyone can flip back their calendars to last preseason and remember all the gloom and doom being predicted on this board and the calling for the 3 Stooges heads. Last night did look as bad as everyone thinks it did with the D getting gutted as well as the return coverage units almost MIA and our return units continuing to bring kicks deep out of the endzone causing drives to start inside the 20.With all the hype over the size of our WRs, I believe the lack of height in the secondary may be a bigger concern for the Bears. With all that being said the Bears had a terrible preseason last year and so far it looks the same this preseason. BTW would someone tell Darryl Drake its okay to teach young WRs to go out of bounds to preserve time on the clock during the 2 minute drill.

Thats a valid point and if Forte is to play the Marshall Faulk role he will need to average 15 to 20 touches per game and I don't see that happening since they have publicly stated their goals for Roy Williams. We can only hope that Cutler resist temptation to force the ball to Williams and take the check down that will undoubtedly be a mismatch to take advantage of.
-
Agreed because the first stint of camp he missed was for the birth of his second child so I can only hope evrything turns out okay in that regard because I can sympathize with anyone going through tough times with your newborn, having done it myself for my first born's initial 3 month in the ICU.

Outstanding post Jason and it points to the "Business" side of sports. Hell if they are testing for HGH like a lot of employers are doing a drug screening, then why not this? You opened my eyes on this. I need to temper my disdain for Goddell.I just don't like or trust him.
-
I hate doing this but there is a report that GM JA doesn't want the talks to drag out and it is one of the local scribs and I can't remember which one as I left in mid surf to take the Ol Lady to work sorry I don't have a link.

Thanks I don't know about a young guy like yourself but, sometimes us old soldiers get brain cramps while typing. Just like you gave me Polamalu. Glenn Dorsey is coming on,L. Landry, DeWayne Bowe,Carlos Dansby and Joseph Addai off the top of my head.

Could the staff be forced to put a guy drafted at LT put back in that position? Could Edwin Williams get a shot at LG? Will Chris Spencer stay at center? Will Lance Louis be invited over Mike Tice's house for dinner? Will Roberto Garza suddenly grow an ACL out of nowhere? Will Gabe Carimi look at all of this and say wow is this the NFL? Stay tuned for The Days Of My Bears weekdays and weeknights.

Every year there is tremendous hype about USC safeties and WRs and so far recently there hasn't been a star among any of the recent Trojans entering the NFL. Back in the day when Ronnie Lott, Dennis Thurman and Mark Carrier were creating a legacy of good safeties coming from USC, the hype for WRs started to spin out of control with Keyshawn Johnson being drafted number one over all and he never lived up to that billing IMO. Since he was at USC, everyone was looking for the next great WR there. Steve Smith,Mike Williams etc.,were offered up as the next guys to acheive greatness and we still are waiting to see them to ascend to their hype. As for Taylor Mays coming out many thoght he would be better at LB until he ran the 4-4 at the USC Pro Day. Then teams started to salivate at the thought of a big safety that could run and punish ball carriers. Some of the rumors we have been hearing about him is understanding the schemes, totally lost in pass coverage at times and his work ethic being questioned at times.

Espn radio in Chicago is reporting that Ja Marcus Webb was carted off the field at practice but there is no word of if he is injured or not.
-
I wonder if the lawyers of the NFL will show film clips of Mc Mahon head butting his lineman as a defense.
-
Mad L Barber is out to prove his former team wrong and Hurd is a fringe special teamer. No matter how we look at it Roy Williams is a NFL diva type player of this decade that will never be on par with a Jerry Rice or a Michael Irvin or Chris Carter. What results did you expect to see from him in the first preseason game?Jerry Rice is a HOF WR and Williams will never measure up to those standards after being on his third team in such a short career so far.
-
Clark and Hanie are two guys I don't know if I can trust the staff to utilize properly. I do believe that the 3rd rb will have to play special teams so that leaves one of the 3 veterans out in the cold and I don't think iots Forte. With Taylor already getting whatever bonus money that was due to him it wouldn't be any savings and it wouldn't surprise me if they kept all of these guys and Bell. The fact that there are 2 FBs on the roster tells me that one of them may stick.

bradjock you know I agree with you a lot and your statement about O-line attention vs D-line attention is like Mad L said the best post of the Summer. My only slight disagreement is about whether what I posted was news or not. since both you and I are in close proximaty to the Chicago area and get most of the local rumors etc., I was trying to let TT know some of the stuff you and I both here.
