  1. And would you be in favor of selecting him if he does?
  2. First you reference how his value has been decreased by his massive number of plays and then challenge his manhood on taking himself out of the game. I hope you can at least see the inconsistency here. If I'm Pace I realize I have a great player in Forte but an aging one and I try to treat him better on his way out the door than some other recent former Bears were treated by the last front office... And I draft his replacement this year if the opportunity presents itself. This is a business and while Matt's one of the best, he's only got a few years left in him.
  3. The only reason this may be a "big deal" to the Bears is because it's the first season with the new staff. He ought to be getting as much face time with them as possible. He's still a very good player and I hope we keep him (not trade for a pick this year) but I could see his missing these types of voluntary sessions as being an issue under these circumstances. With that said, it's not a big deal to me.
  4. 400 miles NORTH of you? Holy cow, what a hearty soul! LOL

  6. I personally think trading up to get Mariotta is a huge mistake. I don't think his skills project to the NFL, we'd be giving up a better QB AND OUR FIRST and creating unnecessary dead cap space. I've been with Pace so far but I'll be against this move completely.
  7. Evidence suggests we've improved all around at other positions of need. We could still use a safety but I'm not convinced one rated high enough will be there at #7. So I'm declaring for the WR position although I'm still open as to who that is. Further evidence is that one of our first moves was to cut Marshall loose. To me that suggests Pace has been planning this all along, playing chess knowing that the goal was WR at the end of the day. Then again, we did add a WR already but he's more a slot guy. So I'm sticking with it, it's going to be WR. Thoughts?
  8. 4 years younger than Garza....
  9. I think Wiz is having a hard time coming around to the fact that he isn't worth what he thinks he's worth. Once the numbers settle, the Bears will be in the mix.
  10. I think given the fact that they've signed 11 guys already (outsiders) I think we may not sign any of these guys. I'd like to see Peanut back but only if they believe he's got another season in him. And if not, I'd like them to give him a front office job of some sort.
  11. Sam Acho is a low-key nice signing for the Bears. Always excelled in coverage and played the run well. - Michael Oliver Another very good one year deal for GM Ryan Pace. Acho is good rotational depth with upside. - Aaron Leming
  12. And on April 1, imagine that...
  13. Cooper in town today for private workout.
  14. https://twitter.com/RapSheet Interesting move given Forte being in a contract year.
  15. Link Pretty interesting. They've covered a lot of ground and plugged plenty of holes already.
  16. What I never understood about Jay, at least these last few seasons, was the horrible first halves of games. I mean he'd look like complete SHIT for 30 minutes! And then come around, usually, in the second half. Not always. But damn it man, get your head in the game from the opening kickoff! This is the NFL...
  17. Good point except Devin never showed he was capable of being a #1 receiver while Cutler has clearly shown he's a very good QB for extended periods. So I think that's a little bit of a stretch. Look, we're all hoping for the best. That's all that really needs to be said. We're all fans, we're all tired of Jay's antics and bad moments and we're all going to get behind him when the season starts... Until he proves unworthy of our support. AGAIN
  18. Per Leming, Ball was a target of Pace's since the beginning of FA and he was just patient. Another 1 year deal, also. I could see this spelling the end for Peanut.
  19. Yes they do! Because Jay has all those skills IMO and it's been mostly mental. So if you build a system he's comfortable with, call plays that control his jitters, particularly early in the games, give him guys who run clean routes and don't freelance, keep his jersey clean, run the damn ball better, don't fall behind 14-0 in the first 5 minutes of the game, get better starting field position because your ST's don't blow... It can all add up to him being much better than we've seen recently. The guy has done some amazing things in a Bears uniform and he's just plain sucked donkey balls at other times. Ironing out those inconsistencies is what a good coaching staff ought to be able to do. Notice I said can and not will. I don't have the same confidence in Jay I did a few years ago. He's got to get it done or he's gone in a season or two and he'll be thought of as a guy who had the tools and wasted his talents. If he can make the next few seasons count, he'll retire with achievements he'll be proud of and the team will have benefited. No, I wasn't saying I was capable of stepping up to Jay's level but that he, with the talents he possesses, is capable of continuing to learn and grow just like anyone his age or older. And with good mentoring from his coaches I still hope he can do something for the Bears that we haven't had happen here in 30 years.
  20. Hey dude, I'm 50 and I change and learn and grow every day. So, yes, it's possible. If Jay wants to have a legit legacy he'll buy in and work hard. But the question is will he be mature enough to make yet another change and commit like will be necessary. And that's why we'll be watching the games...
  21. There's only so much truth to this... Cutler and Rodgers have both had their fair share of lousy line play. And despite it, Rodgers is great and Cutler is Cutler. Now you can point at lots of other factors like Aaron always having McCarthy up there calling the plays and yadda yadda yadda Jay not. But when Jay was brought in here, he was already supposed to be seasoned. And he's being paid to be Rodgers. I'm not sure it's completely fair to say we ruined him. We certainly didn't help him develop further like a great organization should have. That's a fair statement. But I sure hope he's still capable of being what we brought him in here to be for the next few years. Otherwise it's going to take a lot longer than anyone wants to get Fox his Superbowl Trophy.
  22. That would certainly make Jason happy. And me. Although it's my understanding that there aren't any true LT's available this year and you don't generally spend a #1 on a RT. But yeah, scheme in the O Line can only go so far, you have to have the players. So I'm all for getting some help in the line during the draft.
  23. Yep. Sorry. If you read the Fansided article it clearly says he did this yesterday. But it's wrong, I'm pretty sure, unless everybody missed this.
