Not sure whether this belongs here but here it is. I saw a story where Nagy was asked about what he thought Brays ability would be as a back up. His answer was pretty much, ‘he better be ready’ (or something like that). I thought maybe a trade was in the works... then I saw this (below) Turns out Trubiksy was injured during the one play he was in for last week. https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2020/11/4/21550267/bears-mitch-trubiksy-shoulder-injury

He doesn’t quite check all the Bill Parcell’s’ boxes but is a solid QB, or at least can be. Cowherd was saying SF should make a play for him as Jimmy G (by his estimate) is done in SF. And that Belichick would live to have Jimmy back in NE. What do we have to offer if it turns into a bidding war? Any way to unload Trubisky in the deal?

And to make matters worse, Ifedi and Spriggs are now on the COVID list. Massie (and Daniels) are on IR. Whitehair is out and it’s looks as though Mustipher may miss this weekend. But hey...Leno and Coward are still good to go. OY VEY!!! https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2020/11/03/another-injured-offensive-lineman-center-sam-mustipher-might-miss-sundays-game-too/

I know this was brought up a few times last year but I’d be totally fine with Pagano taking over the HC job at this point. Usually the defensive minded coaches are more conservative (yes boring) but are consistent with their play calling. Maybe look for a bruiser back like Howard to complement Montgomery and we could actually focus more on a balanced attack. As much as it pains me to say this I’d also be ok with putting Trubiksy back in. Foles’ mistakes are not really any different than Mitch but he has less of an excuse to me making them. Add that Pagano’s got experience in the drivers seat and I’d be ok with that to finish out the year.

Depending on how things go today I really believe the Bears can give GB a run for their money. GB is really 1.5 dimensional (I’ve added their running game at half value). You disrupt AR in any way shape or form, you can beat them. Goff is having it happen to him in Miami. Wish the Bears could’ve figured that out.

I’d personally prefer we wait until our team is worse than .500 before I consider that. Probably won’t matter though as Pace and Nagy will be on borrowed time if they do.

I remembered that the Bears played the Saints almost exactly a year ago (week 7 last year, week 8 this year) in Chicago. A couple of key differences; Brees was out, replaced by Teddy Bridgewater and Kamara was out replaced by Ledarius Murray. Thomas did play (9 for 131yds no TDs - last year). On the Bears side the only real significant difference from last year are Foles at QB and Ginn is on the team (as of this typing) after playing for the Saints last year. Its also looking like Robinson could be out for concussion protocol (10 for 87 yds and 1 TD last year). The Bears run D did poorly (again against Murray - not Kamara) and the pass D held their own. There was a blocked punt by the Saints early in the game that resulted in a Safety (first score of the game). And the offense committed two turnovers; one by Miller and another by Montgomery. Aside from Patterson's 102 KO return for a score the offense didn't do much. That is until late in the game. With just about 3 minutes left in the game the Bears scored twice to bring the final score 36-25.

Bill although I haven’t been watching the Bears quite as long as you, I totally get what you’re saying. It has been a long time since 2006 and an even longer time since 1985. We were ‘this close’ (or so it seemed) two years ago then stopped because a kicker couldn’t get it through the uprights. Not once but twice...on the same kick. So goes Bears football. And so too go Bears fans. As you said, this is a storied franchise and frankly I’m proud to be a Bears fan regardless of how well they do or don’t do. The NFL has done numerous polls and over the years Bears fans generally aren’t only found to be the smartest when it comes to football but the most loyal and true fans. Look in most away games (when we’re not in a pandemic) and you’ll find the stadium packed with Bears fans. That’s pretty damn cool. Speaking of ‘damn cool‘ check out this photo I attached below. That’s 5th round Rookie pick Darnell Mooney going up top to catch a pass. He’s in it to win it. I think things will look better before they get worse this year. I haven’t lost faith...yet.

It's funny because when the Packers lose bad, it's a fluke, but when the Bears lose bad, it's who they are And what’s even more ‘strange’ is how no one realizes how one-dimensional GB is. Look no further than their TB game where TBs Defense was relentless with its pressure on Rodgers. That pressure is really what turned the game in their favor and revealed GBs HUGE vulnerability. Or heck, how about the game a few years ago (Mack’s first as a Bear) where Rodgers was injured for most of the game. The team did a 180 when he was out...until he came back.

I’d agree with this; especially in the case of Mahomes and with his set up (coaching) in KC. Watson is in a bit of a ‘weirder’ scenario with former HC O’Brien’s sudden self-destruct scenario breaking out late last year. One that saw Watson lose his best WR in Hopkins and some other odd occurrences. Yet as you point out, Watson is still doing ok; despite it and his team not winning.
