I’m guessing ‘your son’ was named after Walter not Manning?

I was afraid of that. ‘Next Man Up’, Time to bring up Horstead or bring back Bunting.

Bears vs Packers - Week 1 - Official Game Thread (Thu, Sep 5th, 7:20 PM CT/NBC/Bears -3, O/U 46)
Too many unknowns; especially on O. I suspect the D will carry the team. Not sure how Trubisky will do; haven’t really seen him do much since last season. Yes there are a lot of new shiny pieces on O but we haven’t seen them in a game time situation since January. To me it doesn’t matter too much that the Packers are in a new scheme. The offense goes the way of Rodgers...and he’s still there. Their D isn’t shabby; have a new guy goes by the last name of Amos. And the two Smith guys are going to be a concern. Think the odds are right on this one. Predict a closer contest like 3 point separation with the Bears winning. 27-24, 24-21...something like that.

Bears Cut List, Getting to 53
Well so much for the Horsted project and the two Ivy League TEs. And surprised that Bray was cut; considering how poorly Daniel was playing in the pre-season.

Titans @ Bears-Preseason week 4
Is it me or does it seem weird that currently (as of this posting) two of the Bears TEs are Ivy League schoolers? Braunecker from Harvard and Horstead from Princeton. A whole lot different than our HOF Coach/TE from U of Pittsburg.

Yes JESPER...oops. Thanks.

Titans @ Bears-Preseason week 4
Tyler Bray seems to be a solid QB...at least during the preseason. And what to make of Tyler Horstead? Hub Arkush dubbed him a “Burton clone”. https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20190829/hub-arkush-two-bears-stand-out-in-preseason-finale-loss-to-titans

Cutler coming back!!!
Don’t get me wrong, when Jay was traded for I (like many others) was to the moon with anticipation that our team finally had its franchise QB. Then I got to see him for who he really is on and off the field. You're right that Trubisky is a genuine human being and fits in with the culture that Nagy is building, he himself a genuine ‘family’ themed guy. Still waiting for the Franchise QB results...

Cutler coming back!!!
Me neither, just thought we could use some non-sensical news as to what some of the former players were up to. That Fry story is actually sorta sad...

53-Man Roster Projection
So you think a converted OLman is not as good at blocking as a Shaheen? We haven't seen much from either Sowell and probably less from Shaheen this preseason to really determine who is better at catching and/or blocking. Nagy has a propensity to not use his starters all that much during this time of year (one of my only beefs with him when it comes to Trubisky learning the offense...but I digress).

Miller
The comparison was more in line with injury history than productivity. And to be fair his ‘college shoulder injury’ was listed as unspecified when he was a rookie I believe (which caused him to redshirt). He injured a shoulder (not sure it was the same as was in college) twice last year (both time dislocations) and had off season labrum surgery. He also has a stress fracture injury listed for his right foot from 2015(?). Maybe it’s nothing...

53-Man Roster Projection
Was just going to say the same thing...or close to it. I don’t see Shaheen making the 53 personally. He really hasn’t shown he belongs...at all. I think the Frankenstein’s Monster that is Sowell will advance because of the points AZ made as will Bunting due to his surprising emergence.

Miller
Saw that Miller returned to practice after being out with an injury since 11 August. I honestly didn’t know he was injured and not only that but that it was an ankle injury. Knowing he’s had some issues with his shoulder I was curious about his overall injury history. Am I wrong in feeling like I’m seeing the ghost of Kevin White still lurking Bears field? I don’t get the ‘warm and fuzzies’ most of you do about Miller when I see players like Wims and Ridley on the roster.

Leno Contract Restructured
I see there’s a fair share of speculation about trying to sign Jadeveon Clowney (within the Tweet you linked and other sources). As much as that would seem awesome, it doesn’t seem realistic with all that money involved...right? I even saw one place it was suggested the Bears could give up Long, Floyd and a draft pick for Clowney. (The Texans are rumored to be hurting for OLmen). I’m not sure I like it or the Bears need that. Not with the current kicker situation as it is.

Kicker Battle - Elliott Fry waived, Pineiro's job to lose
How about US Soccer star Carli Lloyd? Here she kicks a 55 yarder through a narrow goal post (almost looks like CFL). I understand that she comes to Eagles’ practices once in awhile and knocks a few through the uprights. Unfortunately she’s an Eagles fan...

Kicker Battle - Elliott Fry waived, Pineiro's job to lose
Gotta think this is more about the contract they signed Pineiro to than anything right? Neither Pineiro or Fry outperformed the other. I agree that the team is still looking for someone to fill the role and this isn’t over yet. In other news; did you see the link about Cedric Benson dying in a motorcycle crash last night? Sad for sure. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bears/ct-bears-cedric-benson-killed-20190818-ve4gwhffyrbsjcif5at2rsbyla-story.html

Fugly
Somewhere in this sh*t show resides some of our ‘depth’ players. I know the roster is still at 90 so I’m hoping ... man am I ... that the performance we saw tonight was the bottom half of that 90. Edit: I think Mizzell is done especially as a RB for Chicago.

Loved the Pic
What’s the backstory? Or is it just Kyle being Kyle; a veteran leader looking out for a young player and teaching him the new ‘Bears Way’?

Agent Trace Armstrong
Perhaps I’m in the dark on this but just read the below article this morning. Former Bear Trace Armstrong is Matt Nagy’s agent. How cool is that? https://www.chicagobears.com/news/armstrong-proud-of-nagy-former-team

Emanuel Hall Cut
Speaking of lazy, was he the one that came off some off season surgery or was that the other Hall? No matter; he was an UDFA and (as Nagy says) there are plenty of good WRs on the team. Notably Ridley and Wims who both seem to be holding their own. I saw that Pinero and Fry continue to trade ‘tit-for-tat’. My money’s on Fry winning the battle between the two. The question I have is; will there be another kicker brought in later in the preseason not currently on the roster?

Eyes on Training Camp
Prince vs. Wims: Apparently Amukamura and Wims had a dust up recently in camp. Link of first hand account below (no video of fight). But first some takeaways: - agree with DWC that Wims is dumb for hitting Prince on the helmet as a WR and vying for a starting spot. But it is evidence that Wims is taking this seriously. - this is ‘normal’ behavior at camp so no real need for alarm - sounds like Nagy nipped in the bud rather quickly and effectively (very much unlike Trestman a few years back).
