  1. I think all this racist back and forth has no place here. Whether it happened of not is obviously up for contention. But the fact it's become a main point of discord here is wrong. If you guys (Terra and NYC) want to discuss racial tension there are many other places that will host that type of stuff. This is not the place for it. Civil unrest is prevelant just about anywhere you go. It doesn't take much to find a place where it's occuring nor talent to start another fight. Genocide, famine, and outright poverty is happening globally as we speak yet here in the 'Western World' we find new ways to tear ourselves apart . I'm not a big fan of these kumbaya moments we seem to encounter here (at this site)every few months but suffice to say despite all the differences we all have one goal. That is to cheer on our team and hope (with fingers crossed and knocking on wood) that well have a good year. Despite Tucker, Cutler or anyone's else's best efforts. Bear down fellas.
  2. Not to make light but I hope we never have to find out if Tucker will be a good OC. We know he's bad at DC.
  3. I think actually he was referring to Lovie... Nevertheless. I would hope Terra wasn't drawing that parallel. I'd hate to think anyone would harbor that type of prejudice. Let alone a fellow Bears fan.
  4. That actually was one of the more sensible things you've ever said. You're right, there is no way around the fact that our team will be playing it's 97th season and that in it's own right is something to get excited about. I admire the optimism. The roller coaster you mention is one reason they created alcohol. Cheers.
  5. So get ready to disown me Stinger. Cutler sucks. Chicago paid for 7 more years of this mediocrity? I would've easily preferred a 1-2 year incentive laden deal for McCown over Cutler at this point. I know it's the preseason. But geez, this was supposed to be the "dress rehearsal". Apparently they were practicing the wrong script. Cutler was flinging it like he's been doing for the last 4-5 years (or a monkey flings poo). Hoping his team will somehow miraculously catch the ball despite all the defenders surrounding them. I wouldn't be as concerned had I not seen the previous two games. I know the Bears won those but the backups won those games, not the starters. In both previous games the Bears were behind but were able to come back and win with Palmer and Clausen chucking it to the no-names of the third string. Defense? Didn't Chicago once be revered for its "Monsters of The Midway?" The look more the "My Little Pony Cavalcade and Emporioum." Not because they can't do it but because they have inept leadership in the form of Mel Tucker. I like Trestman. He's starting to grow on me. But if this horse manure show continues on he'll be getting shown the exit sooner than he deserves. The only consolation I have from tonight's performance was that the number 1 offense (Denver) was beaten worse a few months ago by this same team. Since our team was #2 and considering that fact, it wasnt really that bad... Right?
  6. They have youth; SMC, Bostic, Greene, Fuller, Vereen, Young, Ferguson, Sutton etc. Problem is they got no damn coordinator.
  7. Interesting points made in the article. Especially how not all that great the O-line was overall. Both tackles (Bushrod and Mills) were listed as concerns. And according to the article Long was a "slight upgrade" over Rachal and Spencer from the year before. Despite he being chosen for a Pro Bowl. Yet, according to the article, both Garza and Slauson graded out better and neither was chosen for the Pro Bowl. I agree that I'm not nearly as concerned with the backup RB play. Both Draughn and Carey have shown promise. I think it safe to say that either will be capable as a third down back should it be necessary. Nice thing is that Forte is pretty durable and plays despite maybe battling injury (from two years ago?). The linebackers will be a concern, as a whole. I still lack confidence in Williams' ability in staying on the field and have yet to see him do anything noteworthy when he is. Briggs will produce but he's in the twilight of his career. Bostic is imporviing but he's not "there" yet. And IMHO if anyone has shown some improvement its McCLellin. I have to say in watching the re-broadcast of the game against Jax he was involved in most plays and seemed to be in the right place, most of the time. Will this translate to effective play against Seattle this week? Remains to be seen. The fact that not one player stands out enough to carry the rest of the group concerns me personally. In the safety area I really want to see Wilson and Vereen get the start. Not sure either will be able but I've got my fingers crossed. With the potential of Wilson's leadership and ability to recognize where he needs to be (and his stout run defense) I think Vereen could gain gobs of experience points. I'm in no way shape or form convinced that Conte is capable of holding his position at Safety. Especially after having off season shoulder surgery. I think a lot will be learned after the Seattle game. And to his credit Kromer paraphrased it best. If we do good great, if we don't we have time to fix it before the regular season.
  8. Obviously there are some unknowns yet to be determined with Holmes but I think you're right. That list seems pretty close to how I see it too. As much as a fan I'm not of Morgan's , he looked especially good in the last game against Jax. I will be interested to see how he does against Seattle, as I hope to see with good things with Holmes. I'm still intrigued by Edwards but his time is running out and so far has done little to make an impression. The return spot is still up in the air with the new signee Reynaud and Williams as probably front runners.
  9. Didn't Doug Flutie kick too? Check out #10 on this list. And was number 6 during Trestman' s tenure? Hmmm...
  10. Why do I get this feeling Bennett is going to get into another scuffle?
  11. So was watching an episode of "First Take" with Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless and they talked about a possibility of Brandon doing a part time gig. From what I understand BM will be taping segments of 'Inside the NFL' every week on his off day. In order to do that he'll take a charter jet from Chicago to NY each week. Could this be a problem later in the year? Link to a story of it: http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/bears-wr-b...de-the-nfl.html
  12. We lost power here so can't see game. Is Allen playing at all? And if so , D still looks crappy?
  13. That was one of the best plays in recent history. Keith "Tractor" Traylor and Big Ted Washington anchored the dline those days. What a force .
  14. Something tells me that he and Steltz saw the writing on the wall and pushed their returns. Wasn't Conte expected to be out longer? He does have some talent but maybe not enough to get the job. I recall a few times where he lost one on one against a TE. ( the opposing O at the time took advantage knowing his bad coverage skills) and he doesn't show a great knack for filling gaps. Personally of the two I felt Wright was the better hitter. Steltz will be gone soon.
  15. My Direct TV is on the Kaputz but enjoyed Adams play by play . Sounds like there may be an answer developing in who will be the #2 TE behind Bennett. My fears of Palmer are becoming confirmed. Neckbeard anyone? Willie Young is a strong player that got lost in the shuffle with the addition of Allen, Houston and the rookies. He's solid enough and young that he could prove to be an X factor this year.
  16. Think of it as a positive that now you'll be able to better read the senior citizen's menu. Which you should be eligible for in most establishments. I actually look forward to that as my next milestone. Hey, we all have to have goals right?
  17. Interesting path he has taken. Super Bowl MVP, Jets highly touted (and paid) WR to ... this.
  18. Couldn't agree more. He was never overwhelming before he came to Chicago. Had one good year out of ?? But, you're right he's played decent (at least year) since coming over. Unfortunately his history seems to be catching up to him. Maybe why both NYG and DAL were willing to pass him off?
  19. Whatever the case, gotta give Fuller credit for playing through. Didn't hear the whistle (unless it was pre-determined to stop after the catch) so at least he's following through. To me it looks like Bennett was first surprised then embarrassed that he got taken down. It is what it is. Seeing Jay come over afterwards to Fuller as if to say 'don't worry about it, good job' is a good sign.
  20. I'm still good with him coming to Chicago, in a back up role. He defines "game manager". Doesn't throw big yards but doesn't make many mistakes. Would he work in Trestmans O? Cerebrally yes but dynamically? Hard to say. From my recollection Orton still gets his money from Dallas regardless of what he does so if he wants another shot...on a wining team...sounds like Emery will be willing. Question now is how would he do in competing for the back up role? From what it sounds Palmer may be leaving soon because he's just not clicking. Clausen is a little more of an unknown. Mostly because he's been off the radar for the last few years. From reading into this article I don't get the impression that Clausen has 'burnt any bridges' and still is showing promise. If I had to choose between the two (Orton and Clausen) I'd go Clausen because he's younger and potentially a higher ceiling. But, Orton comes in a very close second because of his proven record.
  21. I think I may have posted this before but always a favorite of mine. Highlights include: the vaunted '46', LT getting blanked by Covert, SWEETNESS!!! and poor poor Grogan. Here's to 2014 looking much like this!
  22. Not a 'hater' but not a believer...not just yet. Talking the game and playing the game are two different things. Of course BM will stick up for his long time friend, for that he should be (BM) commended. For what its worth, I too have noticed a different poise in how Jay carries himself. More mature and more sure of himself. I just hope that translates to the field.
  23. Nice. Gotta love the commitment. With his regimen and mindset I predict a few more Pro Bowls for him as well as potentially a HOF(?). And a Super Bowl or two as well... Heck with Jared on the other side... Oh the possibilities!!!
  24. Maybe why there were an abundance of Guards signed in the last few weeks/months? Wasn't there talk of one day making along into a Tackle? Maybe they are considering that as a necessity? Edit: oops, 'along' should have read 'Long'.
