Really? A large number of passes have been WAY off target. And the deflection to Morgan was a near INT because he was trying to force it to BM. I know it's early but a lot of old habits showing themselves.

Like Mundy and Young. Great adds. Allen needs to show us something. Looking a lot like Peppers...

Two biggest losses of offseason; Hester and McCown. Cutler WILL NOT lead this team to the SB.

Was reading an article recently where allegedly Jim Harbaugh is "losing the locker room" in SF. This despite in his first three years he's compiled a 41-14 record. Allegedly one of the things that upset players was that he had the audacity to have the team scrimmage his brothers team this year in Baltimore. Of course there are a few other what appear minor issues the players don't like but I mean really? Is this not the pinnacle of self serving pathetic? On a team with a proven winning coach and they still snivel. Sounds like what happened with Singletary before that although his demand for winning didn't translate to nearly as many wins. (Do they just not like ex-Chicago players?). Either way it makes us west coasters look like pansies. I'll give Trestman some credit. Although I'm not really all that sold on how he deals with individuals I'm fairly convinced he has the confidence and support of the team. Like I said before the man is growing on me. He seems to have a pretty good handle on things and am looking forward to seeing how he does with this year . Good luck today fellas and to the rest of the year.

Good insight AZ. You may be right. Perhaps Trestman is more cerebral than I sometimes give him credit for. And from what I've read up on him, he seems he could have some shrewd managerial stylings. I'll still hold the verdict until the season starts. As far as Briggs. Read the article below and thought he (Briggs) had a respectful response. I answered the poll (about what I thought of him taking the day) with 'ask me after Sunday'. Because I think that will tell me whether missing that "one hour" was worth it. http://chicagofootball.com/2014/09/03/lanc...al-day/a2z1rv7/

Names for consideration of new DC: Mike Singletary or Bryan Cox (currently LB coach with ATL). Either one would be sweet.

Not sure 'horrific' is exactly right but more along the line of mediocre. Didn't we just have this conversation? I remember Mad saying Peanut before and I brought up Jennings for a myriad of reasons why he's good. I feel déjà vu all over again.

Agreed. Saw that and thought the same thing. I don't get the idea behind doing so because two of them (McCray and Mundy?) are contributing to ST. What I read is they can't decide who's best to play the position (in other words all look like garbage). I did see they said Vereen would be figured into the rotation, but it was more an afterthought. Doesn't instill a lot of confidence. I kinda wished A. Wilson would have worked out at this point. And this paired with the appearance of players coming and going at will (in Briggs' instance) makes for a bad omen. Why did Briggs wait until one week before the season starts to do this? Maybe its nothing...I'll go with that.

I saw this yesterday and was struck by the fact it even made press, especially the part about why he wanted the personal day. From what I read either Emery or Trestman were saying that when a player needs a personal day we try to honor that request to let them deal with personal matters. And the tone was that it was confidential, which I think it should be. But...since it appeared it was not, I agree that this is pretty tasteless by if for nothing else an example he sets. I understand when a player needs time to deal with a birth of child or some other notable event, but for a restaurant opening? On the other coastline? Really? C'mon man!! I'm not feeling it so far with this team. Between this and Marshall's guest appearances on HBO (or whatever) I'm beginning to question the discipline/concentration that these guys will have on game day. Guess time will tell.

Far as I can figure they don't want to have to try and get someone up to speed. Probably means there aren't many other viable candidates for NB. Frey is back so if worse comes to worse he can elevate to that spot after they re-dump Heyden. My guess that occurs about week 6-8, whenever Wilson comes back.
-
Yeah they could use one more OLman. Especially with Mills' fall off from last year and mystery injury this year. One too many QBs and probably RBs. Not sold on all four of the safeties they chose . Outside of Vereen and Mundy I'm not convinced the team has much depth. Oh well...

Should add Duke Ihenacho ( just repeating my earlier post) And Michael Sam. I'm intrigued by Angerer but it appears after 2011 or '12 when he broke onto the scene he faded quick. Hasn't done a lot since . And wasn't Manning a hated addition from the evil empire of Lovie and Jerry? Why consider he or Wright? Disappointed in seeing Bellamy go. Must mean they're not IRing Wilson.
-
Hmm... ??? Plays SS and was expendable because of the addition of TJ Ward. Young player with lots of upside. I'd be looking at him if I were in Bears mgmt. What you think? Terra? http://www.milehighreport.com/2014/8/30/60...ved-safety-duke

So much for the Bills getting the upper edge in week 1 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...-brian-moorman/

I personally would only consider it if it meant a straight 'trade out' for position. In this case if Draughn were to make the final 53 then cut him to make room for BGE. I'm not overly impressed with Draughn but understand the need for at least three RBs on the roster.
-
This idea I like very much. I hope it's plural for IR because TE Zachary Miller is already there and he too is another keeper. Provided he can overcome the injury bug. *Edit* I wasn't suggesting Fales wasn't good. He didn't do bad. Really he did better than that douchebag Manziel who was a 1st round pick. His mechanics are a bit flawed but probably can be worked out - as a practice roster player. All things considered (to include what you said) his position isn't really one of 'need' right now. There are more issues in other places; ST, Def WR etc. **edit/edit** Just read that teams can only use the IR with plan to return (or however you say it) once per year. There are no multiple designations in that regard. So if that be the case, if looks like Miller is done for the year and possibly Wilson could come back later this year. Depending on what they do with him. And lessening the chance of both Bellamy and Morgan both making the team.
-
I was actually thinking exactly the same. Both Morgan and Bellamy performed pretty equally throughout the preseason. I noticed Morgan wasn't dressed to play so I assumed he was 'in'. With the possibility of 6 WRs on the roster couldn't both make it?
-
Should be filled by Bellamy and Holmes. Bellamy has shown flashes of 'good' and was consistent in tonight's game. Although Holmes dropped his first two he came back with a nice TD and then a decent ( not awesome) PR. Since Holmes is a low cost low risk signing he more than qualifies for a spot especially with being able to do returns. The Bears should carry two QBs into week 1. I think Fales should be put on the practice squad or cut all together. His release is really ugly and obviously needs a lot of work. At least his accuracy was better than 'Lamezel'.
-
I'd add Jennings. He's been to a pro bowl each of the last two years. Two years ago he led the league in INTs. And despite all this agreed to play nickel back if Fuller was the opposite corner to Peanut. Seems to be a good player and character. But yeah, Peanut is no doubt "the man".
-
So that answers the question of who you will direct your attention now that Jason has left your life.
-
Meh. Much ado about nothing. Like Cutler said they "still have to defend it". Trestmans not an idiot and will adjust accordingly. I've never bought into the idea of signing a player in the hopes of getting trade secrets. If that were true every team that signs a NE castoff would be in the playoffs.
-
I get the impression that DBs (especially safety play) is your forte. You comment on it quite frequently. The type of player you describe in Thomas sounds like Adrian Wilson. Unfortunately Wilson appears to be past his prime as much as I wished he could have done better. Anyone currently on the team capable of being a worthy safety? Obviously Conte is out but what about a few of the remaining members of the team? How about potential FAs that might be worth their weight? You think Peanut would make a good safety? I think FS would be more to his style but I know he has no interest. What about Fuller? I'm with Connor in that I think Mundy hasn't been horrible. Not that it's a rousing endorsement. But maybe he'd be better with a competent counterpart?

Another lull in activity. Consider it filler.... ha ha. Maybe a discussion about the new ESPN Monday Night Football teaser? Pretty good stuff called "tunnel". Features Marshall.
