In doing a quick read on him, he looks to be a solid player. Projected out of college as an OLB (as opposed to the DE he was in college) ideal for a 3-4 defense due to "his lack of size". Went to Cleveland for his first four years playing OLB. Then two seasons ago, joined Oakland as a DE in a 4-3 defense (of which he was more accustomed). In his career he's averaged about 7.1ish sacks and 61-62 tackles. I think given his age (compared to Idonije) and that Izzy can rotate to DT I say "why not"? Sounds like someone who would do great in Chicago and other posters are right about him, he has a motor that won't quit.

Couldn't agrees more. My thought was that it's a "waste" a player like Meriweather, who has so much raw talent, has not been able to harness the discipline he needs to control that talent. And the fact that he is going to Washington, possibly to replace Landry. And Landry is a player the Bears are looking at... That's ironic.
-
May want to add that Meriweather is now with Washington.... Seems a waste and ironic that the Bears could be looking at Landry... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/footba...IBXES_blog.html

At some point, maybe next year, the team is going to need to look at drafting a decent QB. One that can be around as a long term (and reliable) #2. Neither Campbell nor McCown are spring chickens anymore.

The Marshall incident can't be overlooked. Police reports say that Marshall was the primary "perpetrator". Given his propensity for trouble and Goodells knack for discipline, look for something significant to occur. I suspect Marshall will at the very least miss some playing time.

Agreed, the two names that come immediately to mind Ricky Manning Jr and Tank Johnson. Loads of talent, but where are they now?

Sounds like the team had to know about it (happened "four days ago") and the character issues concern me. Not sure how Lovie will like this coming to the team. Not sure what I think as a fan, other than being really disappointed. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id...-two-3s-how-why

I'm really glad to see this. I was and am still not a big fan of getting Jackson. Having Marshall makes it easier for Jay to adjust as he knows him already. And the talk I was seeing about whether the team should worry about getting Jay what he wanted or he would "be gone in a few years", IMHO, was ludicrous. They sent Angelo and Martz packing and had a player like Bennett still on the roster, mostly I am sure due to Jays input. They even drafted a top tier OLman last year but who would've thought he would not be able to finish the year? The team has been doing what it can to help Jay and the offense. Unfortunately it was mismanaged somewhat. As far as Williams...no thanks. Originally I was pretty excited about the concept but with players like Wimbley, Hawthorne and Freeney possibly available (at a much lower cost) then I'm ok with letting him go elsewhere. With the move of adding Marshall I'm pretty excited to see what else Emery has up his sleeve. Keep up the good work my man.

I like the rationale especially with all the talk of Mario Williams. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...avid-hawthorne/

I would think having Landry in Chicago would be awesome. Problem is the Bears need more help in other positions. Landry will come at a cost. And if anything the team needs more help at CB, long before Safety.

I'm not sure what it is but I'm not liking this idea of V Jax on the team. Could it be the recent spate of injuries or contractual issues? Is there the possibility that he is a bad influence in the locker room? Like I said, I can't put my finger on it but IMHO, the Bears might want to reconsider going for him.

According to the below referenced link the case is made that a combination of a Reggie Wayne and Mario Mannigham pcikup with a high First Rounder at WR makes the best sense for the Bears. I would go a bit further and say that Vincent Jackson instead of one of the two other veterans makes sense too, his negative being his money wants. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1064362...n=chicago-bears

This was one of the reasons I asked the question earlier about "logical choice"? And as DBD pointed out above it is not the team's primary need. To look at a player like Grubbs, to me, doesn't seem logical at all.
-
Wonder why "logical"?

Was just reading the below referenced link about the top 32 LTs currently. And oddl enough Webb isn't #32. (Actually 28th). The interesting comment they make about him is first they say he has "great lateral agility" but in a few other places note he has no or little lateral mobility...confusing. But to me he reflects almost what youd expect from a second year player in his position. And "they" suggest he would be better at RT. Sounds reasonable to me. Especially since I'm still convinced Williams needs to prove himself at LT now. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/10618...-tackles/page/6

Larry Fitzgerald. But in reality, V. Jackson or Marshall then a high draft pick. In that order.
-
Ah what else we gonna talk about? Another mock draft?

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/10507...n=chicago-bears Intriguing. From what I've been reading, Emery doesn't strike me as high profile big spender. I suspect they are going to try and get a deal done for Forte. This would make some sense, and I think he might be past his silly stage... Or would that matter? I still like Burress (as he could be available) or even better Marshall. But hey..what do I know?

Well you can feel remorse in our team losing but that will in no way shape or form make me less happy to see the Packers lose. The fact that they were able to go 15-1 and EVERYONE thought they were unstoppable (except NY who didn't get the memo) makes it that much more enjoyable. Is our teal that much worse? Dont think so. Most will agree here that the team helped itself immensely with Angelo and Martz leaving. I've said it before and will again. The Bears are not this years Colts. Nor are they the Bengals or Lions or Saints of old. Theyre better than that.

Forget McNabb. I used to like the guy but ever since he left Wa I've thought hea become a douche. It seems every time he speaks he says something else that's newly dumb. The guy couldn't hold a job against a rookie in Minnesota and still thought he was all that. And he was usurped by Rex Grossman. I mean really, what kind of real value did he have?
-
Not to malinger on the subject too long but saw a funny post today: Despite a 15-1 record "the Packers won as many playoff games this year as the Bears did.". Goood stuff.
-
So, I was wondering. You think GB lost so they could get a better position in the draft? Sorry...feeling giddy.
-
I think the priority should be on WR, whether through draft or FA. Then CB. I still like the idea of moving Peanut to FS and putting either Graham or Moore starting at CB. As far as T goes , I think the Bears have proven you may not always find a starter in the first round (Williams) or one that will stay healthy (Williams or Carimi). So to me, it doesn't really matter where they find a good OLman. In that, I have to agree somewhat with DTG that now that Tice is the full fledged OC then the blocking schemes will become more potent. And most of the current OL on staff (save Omiyale) will suffice.

I like what I see in Davis, primarily size. I also like Spaeth, mostly due to his experience. Think he's a great fit for the NFC North.
