Week 10 Official Game Thread - NYG @ CHI, Nov 9th, 12PM CST, FOX, CHI -3

‘Winning ugly’ is just that. Earlier in the season we won by special teams (blocked FG and FG at the end of regulation). Since then the wheels appear to be falling off the ST group . Winning against the 32nd ranked defense in the league is a confidence builder and they need to be ready and on the ball for when they play the Eagles and GB (2x) later in the season. If they can come out at least 2-2 against Philly, GB and Detroit towards the end, there’s hope. Of course making up for the early loss to Minny would also be good. -
Wright was and still is a liability on the CB position. Got beat horribly on that last TD . Understanding the hate for Poles what more could he have done for the defense? He had a prime directive to improve the offense and then started by hiring the most sought after coach in Johnson. Then to appease Johnson and his 12 offense concept, drafted a TE in the #1 spot. He also got a replacement (and 1st round talent) for Moore with Bolden. Were they wasted picks? Maybe - hindsight it is what it is. But to help the defense he hired “one of the best defensive minds the NFL” in Allen, signed a few key FAs (Jarrett among them) and you should see some improvement in your defense , even if it is minimal. Yet here we are .

Good to hear Stevenson is in. Although not top shelf he’s a functional CB who has flashy plays. And if this is the first start for Gardner Johnson opposite, it’ll be interesting. Big bummer Swift is out. Did they trade away Roschon Johnson or is he so deep in the dog house we’ll never see him play again? Edit: checked my own work and see he is out for a back injury. Why do I get this feeling RoJo won’t be with the team much longer?

There are really two ways this can go…this season. He shows gradual and incremental improvement and matches or beats Trubisky and Mannings stats in their respective Sophomore years. Or he doesn’t. Beyond this season, he’d need to continue to build and do better than Trubiksy (and not fall of a cliff) or pattern himself after the way Payton went. Otherwise the comparisons will be what they will be.

All of this. Especially the part about the D captains needing to keep him in line. I remember when he and Javon Wims had a dustup during a game that I believe ended up getting Wims ejected and a significant penalty. He also was seen mocking Tarik Cohen during that same game. He's a known 'chirper'. Interestingly while reading up on him and while with Dennis Allen in NO, Allen grew tired of him and pushed to get him traded (2022) where he eventually found his way to Philly. Aside from all that, one significant red flag is that the Bears will be his 3rd team since leaving the Eagles earlier this year.

Decided to see what AI would come up with a well known generational talent (Peyton Manning) vs our current "GT" on the team and found some interesting trends. The first search I did was of their rookie years and it showed that Peyton and Caleb were pretty similar in a lot of things, in fact their records were nearly identical, their passing yardage was roughly 200 yards apart, and TDs were 6 apart. One glaring difference was when you looked at INTs. Peyton had more INTs than did Caleb 28 to 6 and his passer rating was lower 71.2 to 87.8. Caleb also led Peyton in number of sacks. Take all that for what it's worth. Then when you compare year two for them, this is what I found. Keep in mind Peyton also led his team to the playoffs that year (but so did Trubisky...so there's that).

But that's what Sweat and Grady Jarrett and Odeyingbo (etc) are for? 🤷♀️

By using the wonderful world of AI I was able to compare Trubisky's start to Williams' start (their respective rookie years). Then compared how Trubisky's 2018 campaign (his sophmore year and the year we last made the playoffs and he nod to the Pro Bowl) was to how Caleb is doing so far....interesting stuff. First each of their rookie years: Then their sophmore years:
