The only thing you can rely on is game tape of you are looking for situational play. You're correct in stating that the physical stuff is proven in pads. Guys in basic training look like all stars until the bullets start flying.

Nice ending! Totally agree. We have college film, combine results and pro days to know if we like a guy. Rookie camp is a chance to see the new fit and test what they can do and learn. Coaches also learn during this time. People have different learning styles, so they must adapt to be better teachers.
  3. I can see him lined up everywhere, including inline. From inline, they won't expect him to handle any DL, but he can chip and release, release and go in motion. Johnson has a motto, "no block, no rock".
  4. Totally agree. Nothing waters the experience down like whoring it out...
  5. It's crazy how we get one of the hardest schedules on an annual basis. Gotta plow through...💪
  6. For the sake of argument, how can we say that Kmet is not good and then say someone would trade for him? That's a contradiction I can't wrap my head around. Either he has value or not. Agreeing that we disagree on skills and value to team, explain spreading the field with a move TE and three receivers vs 2 and 2. 2 and 2 gives you the mismatches you want. It requires bigger defenders. With bigger, meaning slower, you now have the ability to mismatch Swift and Loveland with Kmet as a blocker or safety net. Can't do that as well with one TE. Twelve personnel is a matchup problem in the run and pass game. Lastly, Cole is a locker room leader, legacy player and native Chicagoan. My bet is he wants to stay and would sign a reasonable deal to do so. And if you are correct, he's simply not good enough, he's cut.
  7. Bowers and Loveland are the same player. Kmet gives Loveland a compliment instead competition. They work different areas of the field to provide spacing and give more options. So, yes I disagree. Johnson called exactly 100 pass plays to his TE's last year. Our TE's are individually better than theirs, so I'm predicting a slight uptick in opportunity there. Johnson also is an extremely balanced play caller. He'll vary plays designed to the personnel he has, but I believe that same balance will exist. Still, it's all on Caleb...
  8. You are correct in that you shouldn't pay top money to two TE's. Kmet also won't fetch anything in trade. Not because he has no value, but because he's what every team has. If it gets down to money, I expect him to restructure accordingly or be cut. Just not this year. Again, I can't see anyone trading for his salary...
  9. Gronk is the unicorn in the room. He's the greatest inline TE of all time. Loveland can counter that due to him being more talented than Hernandez. It's still hard to offset the GOAT.

Not only that, he's "Major Burns"...🤣
  11. I bet Swift hits his running lanes quicker this year...
  12. I love this! https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16GD6fRagx/
  13. Kinda like CBS having Jayden Daniels as QB1 of the league...🤯
  14. Kmet is a classic 3 down TE. It makes him a little more versatile than a pure inline TE. I agree that his value isn't in the eight figure range, but he's close. I also don't believe he's trade bait. He's not the type of player teams trade for. Teams will simply draft or sign one in free agency. His greatest value is with us.
  15. Anything over 40 is a failure.
  16. They do the show after Waddle and Silvey. Neither one of them are football guys, so all they do is speculate. I refuse to buy any Kmet trade talk. We've all been saying we needed a move TE to go with him. As soon as we get the complimentary piece, he's expendable? Cole is still a very valuable piece of the team and a top ten player at his position. Loveland and Kmet will actually compliment each others strengths and help free up the other.
  17. It's all about Caleb. After that, I believe we are going to see a physicality that we haven't under the Flus years. In listening to Jurko talk about going to one of the Bears "full contact" practices today, I was completely dumbfounded. He reported that it was the least physical, full contact, practice he had ever witnessed and it wasn't even close. You can replay him on the app to hear how adamant he was. Thayer has mentioned the same and had also commented on poor weight room work habits. Johnson has all but guaranteed, that shit ain't happening. Guys are gonna get physical or get out. My expectation from day one is that we are gonna see that in the first pre-season game. Will this make the OL better? Hell yes it will. Same with DL. This year is not about additions and subtractions, it's all about a new mindset. Back to Caleb. We'll know by week 4 if the light is bright. If bright, we win ten games and are playoff bound. If the light is mid, we win eight. A ten win season puts us in the window for 2026. An eight win season gets us looking for a QB again.
  18. Agreed. The rest of our division plays it the same. Rumor has it that we are in the best division...
  19. She's the best out there...

It's true about Braxton getting dog walked. More weight, better coaching and effort in the weight room can clean it up. There was a lot of talk about the last staff not holding players accountable in the weight room. The bigs sometimes need a little kick in the pants, especially when it comes to working out.

I'm not sure why you think a three year starter isn't good enough to start. Braxton hasn't entered his prime being only 26. With adding weight and getting better coaching, he may hold up better against the bull rush. Kiran is a third round pick with prototypical measurables. He would have been drafted higher if it wasn't for injury. We don't what we have due him never having a training camp. Next, we are as far away from a cluster F since the 85 SB team on OL. We literally have four "plus" on our OL. How many teams can say that? Add to that Braxton was average. Lastly, Braxton should be ready by training camp. I broke my tibial plateau last year and was full go on six months. That was at 58. Aiden Hutchinson almost came back much faster than that. IMO - the only thing this OL has to do is gel. This OL has finally achieved solid status. Next year = deep. I'm not concerned at all.
  22. I highly doubt it. Moore and Burden may get 15 each on average. We also also have Duvernay that should get a few. As a reference Sam Laporta has one career rushing attempt, so Loveland is probably out.

I'm glad they are leaving Wright alone. It's hard enough gelling an OL the way it is. It's such a luxury to have Thuney next to whoever plays LT. Another boost to the trenches is that they just hired Mark Philippi to the strength and conditioning team. He's a former, seven time, World's Strongest Man competitor. The fatties have someone to push the right buttons in the weight room.
