  1. The Bears needing O-line help in free agency is an understatement, especially at a position that is not often successfully filled by drafting kids to start right away. You are proving my point on the post being "post worthy" under the Bears forum. We have differing opinions on Jake Scott's ability to improve the Bears. Just because BearSox almighty doesn't think he would be a good fit doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed with other Bears Forum members with regards to the Bears Offensive Line. Its a possibility to be entertained That was the point of my posting it there to discuss the Bears which is the whole point of the forum.
  2. I'm not an Admin, but I disagree. I think it is Bears related since we(BEARS) are in the market for multiple OL players. Following your logic this thread arguing the merits of whether a post is Bears related should not be in a "other NFL news" but rather some sort of help desk thread or something along those lines since it certainly does not have anything to do with the "NFL news". Please dont make it a pain in the ass to post here.
  3. Scott has nothing to do with the Bears? We lost a starting guard and a starting right tackle this offseason and have yet to replace them. ANY OL that signs a contract during this offseason is Bears business. "The two names were never linked"? So you are saying we can only post about players once some media decides to link the Bears to that player?? Maybe you should tell us what counts as "linked" and who is recognized as having the power to "link" players to the Bears before we are allowed to post about them? Is a sports blog approved media or only established outlets like ESPN? Additionally, your "we have our RG already" comment is nonsensical (stupid) since guards switch sides all the time. Q: You know what posts I am tired of reading on this forum? A: The posts written by people who don’t think things through.
  4. I understand what yuou were trying to do and it was a fun read but Didnt Flacco have the strongets arm at the combine?? No mention of that in his positives other then can make accurate throws.
  5. What are you talking about? Our biggest need is arguably OL. How is the signing of a OL and my asking whether Angelo could or even wanted to sign Scott away from Colts instead of Tennessee not Bears news????
  6. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7895722...away-from-Colts After some serious thought, I now have generally come to agree with the post season moves. This one though I would like to know how involved Angelo was with this if at all. if not , why not.
  7. Would you feel comfortable drafting him @ #14?
  8. he got fat last offseason. that has nothing to do with our oline. that has to do with heart
  9. "Does he love playing the game of football" Thats the problem.
  10. ROBERTSON DEAL ISN'T HAPPENING For the second time since Friday, a deal that the Bengals thought they'd make to upgrade a subpar defense has fallen apart. Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that the trade between the Jets and the Bengals for New York defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson is off. The sticking point was Cincy's insistence that Robertson re-do a contract that is set to pay him $9.8 million in 2008. Unless and until the Jets find a team for whom Robertson is willing to take a haircut, the likelihood is that Robertson eventually will be cut before a $3 million roster bonus comes due in June. instead we chose micheal haynes and grossman. Troy Polamalu taken two spots after haynes
  11. I heard something that made me come off the ledge a bit regarding our WR issues. 2 yrs ago packers had nothing and through the draft they are now stacked with quality talent. To play devil advocate, they had Brett Favre to throw to these kids and we dont.
  12. Resign them both plus get that WR FA from Arizona, labeled a "young Muhsin Muhammad ", Bryant Johnson. I just worry that Briggs is going to force a deal anywhere else besides Chicago to avoid looking like he is coming back with his tail between his legs.
  13. I know I am a downer and I talk no comfort in feeling this way. I hate it. But it is what it is. I sit here in my office with my Bears Flage hanging behind me contemplating a bad bad season. Tell me something good. Tell me we get 1 of our 3 major fa? At least tell me Angelo has some plan other then saving money. pleas talk me off the ledge. All I hear is negative.
  14. We are rebuilding folks. Ive never seen out WR corps as depleted as they are right now- and they are most likely going to get worse when Berrian skips town. We have 1 unproven injury prone WR in Bradley and Hester who even if he becomes great diminishes our Speacial teams which has saved us in the past. Then our Oline blows even more now then at end of season we lost 2 starters and word is we are not going after any Marquee names in that field. No Fanaca. Our D line has been injured. T. Harris coming off major injury as is dusty devorchak. Ogunleye while he had a great season is one year older and A. Brown was just paid so who knows whether he will have drive. RB? We have 2 complimentary RB's and a 1st rd bust. Safety. We have no cemented safety- no Mike Brown replacement. LB. urlacher coming of NECK !!!!! surgery. Despite Bears assurances, if you know anybody who has any spinal cord, back , neck surgery you know it is a scary proposition. briggs most likely not coming back. While we have Jamar williams he is not good enough to carry that squad, hillenmeyer either. QB; status unchanged and all three played last year to a 7-9 record. Oh wait TE is good.
  15. lets hope this passes and goes full circle. Id love to spend a 2nd on him. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...2.22/index.html
  16. http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=777329 According to the Steelers GM, this is the best OL draft in 24 yrs. Means we can take a top notch OL man in 1st or 2nd.
  17. i feel same way you do. when eve sean salisbury opens his trap thats all he can muster. how bad nfc is.
  18. Is Joe Flacco the Next Tarvaris Jackson? Posted Nov 10th 2007 7:15AM by Michael David Smith Filed under: Vikings, NFL Draft, Minnesota The 2008 NFL draft is supposed to be a deep one for quarterbacks, with maybe four or five going in the first down and 10 or 12 going in the first three rounds. One name that had hardly been spoken before the season but is starting to get a lot of discussion as a potential first-day quarterback pick is Joe Flacco of Delaware. Mel Kiper lists Flacco as the fifth-best senior quarterback prospect in college football right now, and ESPN In$ider says this: Joe Flacco of Delaware, who definitely is on the rise and whose arm strength seems to compare favorably to that of the more well-known prospects. The former backup to Tyler Palko at the University of Pittsburgh, Flacco transferred in 2006 and has put up big numbers for the Blue Hens, completing 472 of 712 passes for 5,448 yards, with 31 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions, in less than two full seasons.Flacco is 6-foot-6 and 236 pounds, has good pocket presence and has thrown only three interceptions this year in leading Delaware to an 8-1 record. Small-school quarterbacks don't often go in the first two rounds of the draft; Tarvaris Jackson, whom the Vikings chose out of Alabama State in the second round last year, is the only quarterback to go from I-AA football to a first- or second-round pick this decade. And since Jackson hasn't exactly lit up the NFL, that could hurt Flacco's chances. For all the lip service coaches give to developing quarterbacks, the fact is that in the NFL, if you're a first-day pick, you're expected to perform early in your career. So while Flacco may have all the potential in the world, if coaches think he's the next Tarvaris Jackson -- a player who doesn't get the job done in his first two seasons -- he won't be a high pick.
  19. I bet he doesn't draft OL. He really likes buying established OL and I think he understands that he is a poor judge of OL talent. I bet he goes some random position because some guy he covets fell down to them.
  20. turner should be fired . He is responsible for that offense and it blows. its not one player, its not Rex or Benson. there is no sense of urgency with him. He seems like he is a free agent player and not a coach.
  21. unlike urlacher's skank, this one for some reason doesn't strike me as that type that is trying to get rich quick. Broken promise? CHILD SUPPORT | Briggs makes $7.5M a year, his child's mother says she gets $250 a week December 17, 2007 BY STEVE PATTERSON Staff Reporter/spatterson@suntimes.com In the latest chapter of a soap opera-like saga, Chicago Bear Lance Briggs is facing a nasty legal battle that could soon turn nastier. Brittini Tribbett, who has a 3-month-old baby with Briggs, says she's sharing a room with their baby at her mom's house, has turned to family for help buying diapers, and faces unpaid medical expenses and other bills -- despite Briggs' vows of support. » Click to enlarge image Brittini Tribett, left, is filing a paternity case against Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears. Tribbett, 21, says she can't get Briggs to visit consistently with their child, and that she and the baby girl have both been hurt by his broken promises. And, the college student says, their talk of building a solid family unit for their child was shattered when she learned of at least two other women now claiming to be pregnant by Briggs. "I have had an open-door policy toward parenting," she said. "Lance has apparently had an open-pants policy toward paternity." Briggs' attorney claims the linebacker "is a gentleman who has been doing the right thing" all along. "There's nothing he's not doing for [the baby]," Georgia-based attorney Randall Kessler said. "I assure you that Mr. Briggs has made very generous settlement offers, but apparently there is a desire for 'mother support,' in addition to child support." Tribbett filed a paternity suit in October, and both sides said then it was an amicable legal maneuver meant to protect the interests of their child. At the time, Tribbett said, Briggs was providing her with a north suburban condo, a car and credit card for expenses. But he later took away the car and credit card and has been painfully slow in providing them money for expenses, she said. He provided a car again and visited this weekend, after learning Tribbett had spoken with the Sun-Times, according to Tribbett's attorney, Enrico J. Mirabelli. Mirabelli said despite Briggs' $7.5 million annual salary, he's provided an average of about $250 a week over the last six months, or "maybe the cost of a tire on his Lamborghini." He has offered, in the future, to provide "less than 10 percent of what he earns in one game," Mirabelli said. "There are men who make 10 times less than Lance Briggs who pay three times more than he's offered," Mirabelli said. "We'd expect him to pay a reasonable sum to provide the child with a lifestyle commensurate with the father's earnings, as provided by law." Kessler said Briggs wants to involve an unbiased mediator to help resolve the case. But nothing can take place yet, as court records show Briggs has yet to file a formal response to the lawsuit.
  22. I say, OL(1st round if there is a 1st rd LT out there, move Tait back to RT), Safety(high only if there is a mike brown type leader out there) Linebackers(Middle/Strong even if we resign briggs. I am concerned Urlacher will never be Urlacher again. ), DT/RB take your pick.
