  1. I'd like that quite a bit. I prefer Cooper over White since compliments Alshon better, and I don't like the UVA safety, but that would be a good draft in my mind.
  2. The Bears select AJ Cann, OG, South Carolina. A.J. Cann...start immediately. Picking the #1 true OG in the draft is inarguable value, and sets up the much talked about move of Long to OT. Don't like Armistead. Shaq has question marks. Too early for QB or RB. Almost went with McKinney out of MSU, but felt Cann was a higher value. Jordan Phillips was the second choice, but his back injury history, laziness, and uncertainty on the Bears roster made the Cann pick easier to swallow. New York Giants (Adam) on the clock.

    Agreed 1000%.
  4. 2.1 - The Titans select Ronald Darby, CB, FSU. TB (Stinger) on the clock. You know Lovie is itching to pick a DB from a division II school.

    BAM!
  6. Best case scenario is if Mariotta falls to us at 7 so we can trade out. We should not be trading any picks to go higher unless something absolutely ridiculous happens.

No, no. Don't misinterpret. Your post: Then Stinger followed up with: I simply listed the number of players that were in similar positions at his size. I don't disagree with the assessment that someone his size has a harder time getting off blocks than someone with 10-15 more pounds of muscle. That's just common sense. I disagree with the notion that someone his size can't get off those blocks. The players I listed are testament to how a smaller LB can survive and thrive in the NFL. I wouldn't mind seeing him drafted by the Bears as an ILB, and then we should have him gain that requisite 10lbs of muscle while teaching him how to better shed blocks. I think what he lacks more than size is knowledge and skill in shedding off blocks.

CJ Mosley with the Ravens was pretty good last year wasn't he? Pro-bowl his rookie year? 6'2", 235lbs. BTW, Darryl Smith, the other starting ILB for the Ravens is the same weight. Other examples: Lawrence Timmons, ILB, Steelers - 6'1" 234lbs David Hawthore, ILB, Saints - 6'0" 230lbs Curtis Lofton, ILB, Saints - 6'2" 238lbs Navorro Bowman, ILB, 49ers - 6'1" 230lbs Brad Jones, ILB, Packers - 6'3" 230lbs London Fletcher, ILB, Skins - 5'10" 245lbs Perry Riley, ILB, Skins - 6'1" 238lbs So Shaq has to gain less than 10lbs and he's the same size as all the other guys. I went ahead and included London Fletcher since he's so short, ya know, to show that the height/weight combo isn't everything. BTW - I didn't look at all teams. I just checked out the teams I could recall running a 3-4.
  9. The lack of Collins and Grassu has more to do with the availability of other players in later rounds than anything. I felt like a FS is available in the mid-rounds, and the early pick could be used elsewhere. I honestly think Hronis Grassu will go late second, which didn't fit the mock I was doing. I tried to be realistic to an extent, despite the unrealistic concept.
  10. I was thinking about the uncertainty of our draft, and wondered if you guys would rather see, if it happened, an all offense draft or all defense draft? For instance: 1 - Amari Cooper, WR, Bama 2 - Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon 3 - Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA 4 - Reese Dismukes, C, Auburn 5 - Shaquille Mason, G, Georgia Tech 6 - Dominique Brown, RB, Louisville OR 1 - Vic Beasley, DE/OLB, Clemson 2 - Shaq Thompson, ILB, Washington 3 - Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon 4 - Derron Smith, S, Fresno State 5 - Joey Mbu, NT, Houston 6 - Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M Try to make one semi-acceptable. It's tough.
  11. I like the first one quite a bit. The second one makes me throat-punch the author. That would be atrocious.

Why do you say that? I have a friend who is a huge UW fan, and he thinks Shaq could easily be an ILB. He's got a ton of athleticism. Always around the ball. Play-maker. How is he not fit to be an ILB?

I'd be pretty happy with that. Especially the start.
  14. You either believe OT not. I won't rehash or re-research everything again to prove what was already proven. It's about the frequency of OL error per play. Rodgers' number was higher because multiple guys had bad plays together. Cutler's was higher because multiply guys were taking turns sucking. The major difference being that Rodgers still had several plays where he had huge pockets with tons of time. Cutler did not. All things being equal, Rodgers is obviously better. But all things aren't equal on their respective OL.

A lot of people on here were clamoring for Mercilus, but I didn't like the idea. I was pissed the Bears went with SMC instead of the available Reiff, DeCastro, or Zeitler. I really liked Decastro.

Wow. This guy is inside my head. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl-draft-nee...iNVhg4AVTUnnIlQ I don't like it all, but I agree with the sentiments about which positions are needed.

Regarding the second article, I liked the David Terrell pick as many here know, and liked the Carimi pick. Hated all the others...well, McCown was fun for a bit. I still think David Terrell was a wasted talent, a fragile psyche that got damaged through misuse and mismanagement by Shoop for three years, then spent one year with the offensive juggernaut minds of Terry Shea and Lovie Smith. By then he was too damaged to succeed. Had he been drafted elsewhere, I believe he had a much better chance at success.
  18. This one seems pretty obvious to me. The Niners lost Patrick Willis, Chris Borland, and Ray McDonald. Meanwhile, Justin Smith is contemplating retirement. They signed Torrey Smith, Jerome Simpson, and an aging Darnell Dockett. They need defense. With the 15th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, he 49ers select Malcom Brown, DE/DT, Texas. He's projected as having flexibility in a 3/4 or a 4/3. Perfect for a team with uncertainty. Houston Texans (scs787) is on the clock.

For the record, the fanspeak draft ended up: 2-BENARDRICK MCKINNEY, ILB, MSU (Machine. Starts day 1) 3-DERRON SMITH, S, FRESNO ST (Ballhawk, future leader in the secondary) 4-ROB HAVENSTEIN, T, WISC (Allows Long to stay inside) 5-IFO EXPRE-OLOMU, CB, ORE (I don't think he'll last this long, but if so...wow) 6-SEAN MANNION, QB, ORE ST (Prospect with good intangibles) I'd be ecstatic about that draft.

What if DT LEONARD WILLIAMS falls to the Bears at 7? I did two mocks and it happened twice. I also had this happen on fanspeak. Assume there are no partners for a trade down. They have to draft Williams, right? If so, that certainly would be a curveball to the draft plans. What would the rest of the draft have to be to alter the unexpected?
  21. That's a very solid, well reasoned breakdown of how WR makes sense.
  22. Good question. Which is why I still have an inkling of hope that it's Scherff. I think I'd still rather have Collins, but Scherff would make me happy. Bushrod - Slausson - Montgomery - Scherff - Long Great running on the right side.
  23. This is based on what I think the Bears will do, which is based on the FA moves and talk of pure BPA. With the 7th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Bears select Amari Cooper, WR, Bama. Atlanta (Stinger) is on the clock.
