  1. Braxton is playing WR or Hback or whatever OSU calls it. I guess he cant throw the ball like he used it, one of the reasons he moved positions.
  2. C Jones has looked like garbage this year, if you haven't seen any OSU games.
  3. Off topic, Cal had three timeouts, no clue why they didn't use them and take their time getting the best play called possible and calm your team down. I get that Utah's pass defense isn't ranked high but their front 4 got constant pressure on Goff all night.
  4. Not good for his draft stock. end of story
  5. Down 6 on the 5 with 4:52. Let's go Goff!!!!
  6. I missed a couple of INT's, saw one that got tipped by a lineman, I think one tipped by a WR and the 5th one. Pressured, threw it off his back foot and shorted it. Not a good performance. He is talented and there is a lot of football left in the season to help his body of work. Was really rooting for him tonight.
  7. #5 Utah vs #23 Cal I believe college Game day is in Utah, should be lots of media hype. Big stage, pressure packed game against the highest ranked Pac 12 team. Lets see if Goff can handle it. Utah is suppose to have a pretty good defense too. If he plays lights out the media buzz around him is only going to get bigger.
  8. With Cutler injured I would be holding my breath regardless of who is in. Ever since Cutler got here I have held my breath, one because of poor protection and two the dreaded INT. Hey, maybe this kid from OR will surprise us just like Long.
  9. Because the spread has been so successful in college everyone has incorporated a certain amount of it in their offenses. The spread typically means, QB in the shotgun, WR's (typically 4 or 5 but not always) spread out along the line of scrimmage creating spacing problems for Defenses. Also vertical routes are used more often in a spread to attack the spacing problems created by spreading out the WR's. A true spread offense would something like what Baylor runs. There are different variations of the spread, like the Read Option spread. Only difference is the option is ran out of the shotgun.
  10. He didn't look good yesterday. I have watched a lot of his games and would say this was one of his worst outing I have seen in a long time. There is still a lot of football to watch and scouting to be done. IT will be interesting to see where he ends up ranked.
  11. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/...eview/72104824/ Read the first line. Then the second, we are both right. It's a mix of pro and spread. One of the biggest concern running a spread for a qb is the lack of experience taking snaps under center and footwork involved with it. Connor Cook has plenty of experience taking snaps under center, in the run game, play action and drop back passing. Either way Connor Cook is not a prospect I think is a no doubt about it NFL caliber QB. I think he is a good college QB but if we are drafting high I would much rather go a different direction. Let the Browns draft him.
  12. First off just because they run out of the shotgun a lot doesnt mean they dont run a pro style offense, how often does Tom Brady ling up in the shotgun. One write up of Cook stats they DO run a pro style offense. I have seen alot of MSU games and last year with Langford they lined up with Cook under center a lot. Does MSU run the spread???? Nope. Cutler under Shanny = pro bowl Under lovie = nope under Dr Death = nope under Gase = looking better 60% completion is not great, Ill give you that. Im sure I can find other college QB's with similar stats that panned out in the NFL tho.
  13. Hey if the guy plays with a mean streak that can make up for being a little weak in the strength dept. As far as technique goes there is nothing like learning on the fly! Next man up!!!! I saw a draft segment on him and loved it, really hope he turns out.
  14. 6'4 220 can make all the throws goes through reads well plays in a pro style offense Biggest negative is when pressured his mechanics breakdown (read this on a draft site) in their words tries to "arm" throw it instead of stepping into the throw You cant teach size and arm strength but can teach better mechanics...... I wouldn't be unhappy with this pick, from watching game film I like Goff better. Im with SCS in that I'm hoping Cutler looks good to great the rest of the year and QB will not be a major need next draft. I would much rather add some top tier Defensive talent and add a QB in the later rounds.
  15. Cook yes Boykins not to keen on, If the Bears were drafting him in the 5th or later I wouldnt mind but would rather a pro style QB drafted. Its hard enough to develop a QB coming out of college, why make it harder.
  16. I agree with Nkemdiche, the guy is legit. Just watch the replay against Bama. He would play the 5 in a 3-4. I also agree with you on where the Bears will be picking. I think the Defense and Offense will continue to get better and win some games pushing us out of the top 5 picks. I wouldnt be upset with Cody Kessler in the later rounds. he is 6'1 215, similar to size as Drew Brees, play in a pro style offense, http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players...13/cody-kessler
  17. He does throw off his back foot alot, even if he isnt pressured. But the ball is still right where it needs to be. Good NFL coaching would correct the throwing off the back foot.
  18. I agree with you, no body knows what we have with White. I made a comment that the Bears would be better with Alshon and White in the line up. Just having Alshon in that comment makes it right, he is a pro bowl WR, already NFL proven. As far as White goes, I think the Bears will be better with him vs without him. You are right tho the key phrase is "I think" or "if". Ill take my chances with an unproven White over an unproven Wilson or Bellemay based on physical measurables and highlight tapes from college. Alshon, White, Wilson, Royal looks better then Alshon, Wilson, Royal Bellemay for 4 wide sets. Right now Royal is being asked to run as a number 2 wr. He is better suited to play the slot. Having Alshon and White in the lineup makes our slot wr better even if White turns out to be a bust. This brings me back to one of my original posts, having a 6'3 210 4.3 guy lining up changes everything, even if he sucks. Royal is now in the slot where he is BETTER and DC's will have to game plan against TWO guys on the outside that can go up and get jump balls(white has already proven that he is good at high pointing jump balls, that talent does not go away just because he is in the NFL now), this opens up Royal and Bennett running in the middle of the field. Bennett and Royal are already proven NFL caliber players. DC's will have to game plan differently solely based on the perception that White will be good.
  19. that thread went from one I wanted to forget and one that is pretty funny. Thank you all involved.
  20. At this point of the season the best way to determine what the Bears needs will be is by age. Guys are going to pan out and lessen the need. A couple of examples: Ratliff is old, they will need a replacement or back up plan soon for him Rolle is old, they will need a replacement for back up plan soon Two younger guys that could pan out to lessen a need, not saying eliminating a need just lessening Amos = maybe he pans out and we don't need a replacement Fuller = I pray to god he turns it around. I would think one area the staff will be looking to upgrade would be Linebacker, outside and Inside. Fangio will want to get his TYPE of linebackers.
  21. Jaylon Smith is an absolute beast. If we are not in the top 10 and he is still around he would be a great draft pick.
  22. Im done predicting because the amount of growth we could potentially see each week. OAK has a good offense and the Bears defense showed up to play and did really well. The last two years we have not seen the offense or defense get better. It was the same old same old week in and week out. With coaching staff we should see each unit get better each week. There will be set backs, should be expected but we may see a completely different team by the end. When is Alshon and Ratliff getting back? Both of these guys are key guys that should provide boosts when they get back to being healthy. Any word on Rolle? Hope we don't lose him for too long.
  23. I agree with you guys....If he is 100% and in football shape you have to get him game reps to get the acclamation process to the NFL started.
  24. I liked Amari Cooper more as well, at first I was thinking White but then once Cooper ran the 4.4 it was a no brainer. I will agree with you about many super fast guys having failed, but I wonder how many of them had the senior year highlight reel production along with size, strength, vert?? Normally super fast guys are missing something else, very rare to have all the traits....Perfect example is Tavon Austin(brought up by Lemon), blazing speed but short and weak strength compared to White.
