1. Dont care if you dont want to admit you are wrong. I would be willing to bet you know deep down inside that hiring Toub as the OC would be a mistake. 2. My thoughts on Cutler were based on football logic. Surround a QB with top 10 talent with the right pieces and we could win. Pieces = OC, Oline and weapons. The Bears never were able to get those pieces all at the same time. The Bears and Cutler failed to reach the level they SHOULD have. If thinking putting the right pieces around a top 10 talent QB would result Wins loses my credibility with you so be it. 3. Last year after one of the shit hole games I stated that I cant defend Cutler anymore and that I was wrong. You responded to it. To your praise you did not rub it in too much. I figured you would have a field day with it. In the end we both lost....the Bears suck. 4. Your thoughts on Toub being hired as an OC are not based on football logic. The logic that since Toub is a great STC he could be a great OC is not logical in the NFL. Im sorry, that does not work in the NFL. It takes years of coaching to become an OC or DC. Toub has ONLY coached ST. There is a reason Toub has never even interviewed for an OC or DC position (doesnt that make you think for a second, he's interviewed for HC but not OC/DC), because he is no expert in offense or defense. He has only interviewed for a HC position. Most HC's in the NFL work their way to an OC or DC position in hopes to become a HC. One would think that if Toub wanted to be a HC bad enough he would have made the switch to one side of the ball or the other. He hasnt, he has made a name for himself as a ST guru and at some point he will get a HC shot. He will get a shot at being a HC because he can flat out coach and being a HC you need to be an organizer and you need to connect to the players because you need them to buy into your WAY. HC's dont need to be the best defensive or offensive minds, case in point Trestman. Trestman didnt fail because of X's and O's, he failed because he lost the team. Toub reminds me of Bruce Arians, a coach that can get guys to run through brick walls. Man I wish Emery didnt try to be the smartest guy in the room! Had he just hired Arians instead of Trestman we wouldn't be having this convo. 5. Thinking that Toub learned some offense from Reid is a reach. Toub is in charge of the entire ST, Reid is not sitting around teaching Toub offense. IF you want a Reid taught coach why not poach his OC or QB coach? Someone who clearly learned from Reid to coach his offense. This idea seems smarter then taking Reids STC to coach O or D. Would you take McDaniels from NE to coach the D? 6. The Cleveland Browns are trying to reinvent the wheel. They have failed miserably so they are trying your version of Toub to OC with bringing on a Baseball guy to turn it around. So far I would say its gotten worse. Sometimes you cant reinvent the wheel. Just find the right coaches and players, get everyone to buy in and the Wins stack up.

Lavar, Can you show me where Bill was a career ST coach with no experience coaching defense or offense and got promoted straight to OC or DC?
-
Hey Lavar, Donald here, I prefer to be called El Presidente. Ill take being nicknamed Donald, at least he made a couple billion and became president. What has Lavar done? Other then get air time for spewing the most amount of bullshit Ive ever seen. Side note, not a fan of Donald so maybe we agree on something.....maybe we can be friends after all. Getting back to your understanding of Football, I do question your total understanding of football with making the argument that Toub should be hired as the OC. Im now seeing that you cant handle being wrong. You will twist your argument just so you feel better about yourself. Toub COULD be an OC.........yeah Lavar, everyone knows anyone can do anything they set their little hearts too, look..... Donald became president. Doesnt mean its the right choice tho. As for Cutler, I admitted I was wrong. He could never get over the hurdle. There are many reasons he never got to the franchise level QB I hoped he would. But Im not going to waste my time rehashing that with you, as there is no reasoning with you about anything related to Cutler. So Im glad you brought Cutler up, see I was man enough to admit I was wrong.......Are you man enough? On to Mitch, where did I say he was the Messiah? The guy has thrown about 26 passes through 5 or 6 games. The only thing Ive said about ole Mitchy is that I think hiring Toub as the OC would be the dumbest move in the history of all dumbshit moves the Bears have ever done. I didnt say he COULDNT, just that its the dumbest idea ever brought up here in bearstalk. I would prefer an OC that has a proven track record of developing QB's, or even a guy like you mentioned Tony Romo, someone who studied the QB position and offense for his entire career. Hey come to think about it, maybe Devin Hester should be the next OC, he was the best return man in the history of the NFL. Lavar, i dont care if you admit your wrong, keep defending your dumbshit idea it only makes you look more clueless. I can already sense a little dislike for Mitch, I hope you dont get a complex over him too. My season tickets go for more then 10,000, fact. A single PSL in my section go for about 7,500 to 10,000. I own more than 1 seat, so yes Im sure I can sell mine fore more then 10,000. My friends used to pay 11,000 a year for seats in my section, just buying the single season seats. They stopped because they finally bought their own. So yes Lavar, Im sure.

lolololololol!!! Thanks Mad, I just spit coffee all over my computer screen.
-
That does not look to good when grading Pace at the end of the year.
-
Im now hoping Toub gets hired as the Bears HC and takes us to a SB. Hell maybe he can call some plays for the OC while he's at it.
-
I understand what he says my link is saying. I guess its not clear. Ill try to make it very clear: 1. He said the Bears should hire Toub as an OC 2. I said that is the dumbest shit Ive ever read 3. he said why, he is a good STC and interviewed for HC jobs. 4. I said because it never happens, because this is not some fairy tale land. 5. Posted a link proving current STC's do not get promoted to run OC jobs. 6. Now the argument is whether Toub COULD be a good OC, because he doesnt want to admit it was a dumb comment 7. Could.....sure......shouldnt..... 8. If the anyone hires Toub as an OC I will bet you and Grizzley 10,000 dollars that he doesnt last 2 years......how about it???? If you guys are so confident that he would be a great OC, lets bet on it.....We can hire an attorney and put the money in escrow........ If you guys dont want to bet money we can bet my season Bears tickets. Only problem is this will never happen.....

Another list to prove my point https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_curre...ve_coordinators Find the one DC who has any offense on their coaching resume....yep only one of the current DC's in the NFL right now has any offense experience......why is that......because def coaches stick to defense and off coaches stick to offense..........Could Toub be an OC, sure he COULD.......doesnt mean he SHOULD......... he suggesting he would be a good hire as an OC is a dumb comment....that is my only argument...... I agree with you that Toub is a great Coach, I agree with you that he will probably make a great HC. Im only saying that Toub as an OC will NEVER happen because experts of all things offense are the only guys that get those positions.
-
My list proves a flaw in my argument????? How so? I posted the list to show that ZERO OC's came from being a STC. An OC failing as a HC or a STC suceeding as a HC has no bearing on whether a STC would be a good OC. Find me one OC in the history of the NFL that had zero Offense coaching experience that go from being a STC to OC....... As for data to support my claim, Im guessing we wont find any data on it because its never happened......why has it never happened, because this is not some fairly land where a DC sleeps at a Holiday INN express and wakes up being an OC or vice versa. Your opinion is the Toub should be hired as our OC, my opinion is that Toub would make a terrible OC because he doesnt know offense like an OC should.....Guys who have spent their entire career's coaching and studying Offense cant do the job well....and you want to make a career STC our OC.....
-
My list????? I didnt come up with it, its the active OC list of the all NFL teams........ real question, have you ever played football or coached football????? What does being an OC who went on to being a HC back to OC have to do with being a STC to OC??????? The two do not correlate.
-
Im shocked you agree with Grixzzly on this. Either way Ill show you guys some info that makes this thought "PS4 talk". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_curre...ve_coordinators Take a look at the list of current OC's......see if you can find one that had zero offensive coaching experience before becoming an OC. IF you dont want to take the time Ill tell you, not one. There is only one or two on the list that actually had any Defensive coaching experience at all. ALL had years of Offensive coaching experience before becoming a OC. The Bears will not risk the development of Tru with hiring an OC with NO offensive coaching experience.

Cutler got hurt in the NFC Championship, so you are going to blame Cutler for that loss?????......hey smart guy, you just proved my point, with the right situation you can win with Cutler.....They made it to the NFC Championship.... Pace signed with the Bears at the age of 56, if you watched his play that season he was washed up......Pace on Rams was a HOF caliber player.......again your argument is shit...... Cutler owns the INT Record and i think every other passing record too, but you think he was the worst Bears QB ever....again another dumb comment.......... Martz system worked with........Warner, Pace, Faulk, Holt, Bruce.......didnt work that well anywhere else... We agree, your idea's are mostly dumb and every once in awhile you come up with a good one......On this idea of Toub being an OC you should probably just admit it was dumb and move on.....
-
Crediblity..... coming from a guy that wants to hire a ST Coordinator as our OC to mentor our new QB.... Never said Cutler was HOF worthy....only that you could win with him in the right situation. Running Martz system with Pace as your LT and Devin Hester as your Number 1 WR = shit show not greatest show on turf but your dumbass thinks that was ALL Cutlers fault. The Bears need to do anything they can to turn Mitch into a FRANCHISE QB, hiring a ST coach as the OC would be the dumbest thing Ive heard.
-
1. Interviewing for HC positions has no bearing on if he could be a OC. 2. ST is a completely different animal, would you switch a DC to be a OC 3. Simply sending him packing with minimal disruption???? Are you shitting me???? What, you want to go down the OC trail like the Cutler Era??? 4. Connor posting about ST coaches going on to win SB, Im all for Toub as a HC not an OC. Toub has ZERO offensive coaching experience on his resume, suggesting the Bears hire him as the HEAD of the Offense is some real goofy shit. Mike Tice had years of OLINE coaching experience, the Bears gave him the OC position, how did that turn out???? Just because a guy is a good coach in one aspect doesn't mean he can be a good coach in another area.
-
I couldn't have said it better.
-
Toub has zero Offensive coaching experience.... hiring him as an OC seams like a reach if you ask me.
-
1. Not that I want Gruden but I thought he said he wanted to get back to coaching but it had to be the right fit. Bears seem like right fit...... Young QB, strong D, only a couple of glaring wholes, great market, founding team... 2. No thanks..... 3. McDaniels...... hated him at Denver but he was a young cocky coach.... now..... could be a better time to bring him on
-
End of the Lovie era all over again.....Martz....tice...... puke...... I agree if you get rid of Loggains then you clean house.....hopefully you figure out a way to keep Fangio,
-
Good coach, cant stand the smug prick. Only wonder how good of a Coach he is without Rodgers.
-
Has Toub ever been an OC or coach anything on offense?
-
I believe he tore his other knee in college. ACL tears suck but not as bad as they used to be with surgery today.
-
What do you mean this will give Tru time to catch up???? Who cares how they match up in first year production. Watson plays on a team that went to the playoffs last year while having a ton of talent around him, throwing to Hopkins and Will make Watson's job very easy. When you looking at his stats you dont see Hopkins taking a screen 75 years for a TD. Tru is throwing to "what's his name". My point is Im not worried about comparing Tru to anyone, only worried about how the Bears develop him. The Bears have done no favors to any of our QB's when it comes to talent on the Offensive side. No one knew White and Cam would go down, but it happened and now you have a rookie QB throwing to bunch of 4th and 5th string WR's. No Zach Miller is out for the year. Teams are already stacking the box to defend against the run, Tru is fighting a up hill battle. Get him some ACTUAL NFL caliber WR's and then compare him to Watson all you want.

Sorry but this has no reflection on the real #50.
