My first reaction to Shurmur was screw that, wasnt he the guy that lasted 4 mins as the HC of the Browns. The Browns have been ran so poorly who knows if it was his fault or what.

Too bad he just extended Pace, Reggie has put together a good looking roster over there!

I would normally say this is crazy but I just read an article saying he may want out. Only problem is he really wants to coach the Giants. So you may be right, just wrong team.

With all the Names being throw out there and interviews scheduled I would like to know who wants who. Ill start with my choices. My Top 2 McDaniels Shurmur Some of my reasons, both Offensive guys. Both have been HC's. Banking on the fact that they learned from their mistakes and will correct them. I lean towards McDaniels due to being apart of the Pat's organization. They have won for so long sooner or later one of the guys leaving the Belichick tree will figure it out! I also am intrigued by Patrica from NE as well. I have not done a ton of research on him, planning on reading up on him this weekend.

I'm not sure how that works, I'm sure there is a unwritten code with it. But I do remember the Bears screwing up a hire in the 90's, I think the guys name was McGinnis. The Bears released that they were hiring him too early. That pissed him off so he didn't sign the contract.

Fantasy land. Guy reads that Shaw is a good coach, and throws it out there as an option. There is no documented interest level, just the thought that he is a good coach at the college level and may be a good coach at the NFL level.

Its got Rooney Rule written all over it. Pace has said he wants to act fast, there are a lot of teams going after the same coaches. The only other coach the Bears have interest in that meets the Rooney rule is Wilks from NC. He cant interview him this because of the their playoff game. Pace is interviewing Shurmur and McDaniels (if they can get there) today, DeFilippo on sunday. If Pace has a favorite from the 3 guys being interviewed this weekend it makes total sense to satisfy the Rooney rule before. Interview your guys and make the hire. Don't let another team sign your guy before you can.

I really dont know much about this guy other than his D was great this year. I think the Bears should hire Urlacher as the HC, Briggs as the OC and because they both played for Lovie they are connected to Harbaugh who knows Shaw and may know Fangio. So Fangio will stay on as the DC because of prior connection listed.

Ive only seen Lavar talk about Shaw being an OC. I was going to disagree with that notion but didnt want to get into it with him. Grizzley was 100% right on Cutler being a DUD. He isnt as keen on potential HC or OC hires, but Im not surprised, he really loved him some Lovie.

Makes more sense than Dave Toub being hired to be a OC.....

Listening to the score (cant remember who it was) - mentioned that around the league most think Pace has done a good job. Bears had to make a change, somebody was going to get fired. You cant have 20,000 fans not show up and doing nothing. Eberything will depend on what these coaches think of Mitch.....if they like what they have seen then we will get a good coach. Anyone else think about the Indy job..... The Bears passed on Ballard to hire Pace. Now Indy will prolly hire Toub, a guy people on this board want.....

Im with you, I would be happy with McDaniels. Hoping he got all the stupid shit out of his system in Den and does it right his second time around. His mentor had a HC gig before the Pats..... just saying.

I agree that if Pace gets this right all will be forgotten. My problem is between the 3 interviews it was clearly stated that this is Collaborative effort. George, Ted and Pace have offices next door to each and bounce ideas off each other. Ted and George will be in all of the interviews. You cant tell me Ted and George will not have a say. George owns the team, he should. After listening to all 3 interviews my biggest fears are confirmed. The Bears need to do what the Packers did, move Ted Phillips aside, and place a FOOTBALL CZAR above Pace.

I have zero faith in George and Ted to make any football decision and that is who Pace looks to for support. It wont change anytime soon unless Pace and the new HC royally freak this up. Ted and George already hosed up the Emery Era, if the Pace era doesn't get better the only thing George can do is fire Ted Phillips and completely restructure the Front office. Ive never disliked a Pro Teams President as much as Ted Phillips. I like George, he seems to really care but freak Ted Phillips.
