  1. He made that trade before Stroud played the season well and wasn't considered to play that well. Easy to look back, not that easy looking forward.
  2. I think they bring him back if they don't get a higher end FA or don't nab one early in the draft. His stats seem decent to me 49 Ts, 4.5 sacks, 10 TFL, 17 QB hits, 4 PDs. They definitely need to upgrade but if they fail, bring him back.
  3. Would love that if it actually worked out that way. One thing will be different, I think we don't get Wilkens and bring back Justin Jones.
  4. I re listened to the press conference and clearly Warren isn't running the show. He sounded like a politician. Poles is clearly running the show . He showed us his vision and it sounded to me like Fields is coming back. Poles likes allot Justin's intangibles leader, intelligent, hard worker, tough, strong character. He knows his passing ability is not up to par, but seen him get better. Fields first year was a shit show under Nagy. Year 2 he brings in Getsy to make him a pocket passer, when than wasn't working, roll outs, RPOs, play action , designed runs, he looked at lot better. Year 3 Getsy goes back to pocket passer and he slowly gets better. Realized that Justin needs a OC that adjusts to his strengths and fires Getsy. Now if Williams is Joe Burrows, he's going to take him. The problem will be passing the character test, that is in question. If not up to par , I think he brings in a OC that works with Justin, get a haul for trade back and keeps improving the team. I don't think he think Justin is a tier one QB, but if he can elevate to a top 15, QB, I think he thinks he can win with him. I also think he going to draft a QB prospect to develop because in 2 years Justin gets expensive. In two years if Justin doesn't prove he's worth 40 mil a year QB, he has a guy in place. If not this year, he will 2 first round picks next year, he will draft one high. I think next year he plans to be a winning team, 10-11 wins. If things go right a contender for a SB in 2026_ while Fields is at 22 mil a year. I think that's his plan. If he identifies a elite QB, he will take him and his long game changes.
  5. In his press conference yesterday, Poles said that JJ isn't going anywhere when asked about Johnson. I was happy to here that.
  6. Poles plan is to build the roster thru the draft that is impossible to do in 2 years. He traded away good players to correct the cap hell we were in which is amazingly done in one year, yet still criticized because we're not playoff bound. Most people picked 5-8 wins, and we made those expectations but is criticized because we didn't win more. He's not perfect but he added core players in those 2 years. DJ, Braxton Jones, Wright, R. Johnson, (2nd QB) Bagent, Sweat, D Walker, Billings, Edmunds, Sanborn, Edwards, Gordon, Brisker, Stevenson. The jury is still out with Tyler Scott, Dexter, Pickens, Hicks, Sewell, Jaylon Jones, Terrell Smith, Nate Davis. I would give him a B+ for the job he's done so far. He will be remembered for keeping Flus and the upcoming QB decision. Those items have yet to play out. Next year at this time is the time to criticize or praise him.
  7. Most so called experts said that Young was the prize in the draft last year, so what would be the conversation if Poles took Young? I suspect not good. Stroud stood out but no one expected that . Hindsight is a great view when you look for criticism. Clearly Poles thinks building a strong roster is critical for the success of any QB. In the second year we would be sitting where Carolina is right now if we took Young. If his evaluation of Williams shows some character flaws he may be trying to still upgrade the roster with a trade back. Poles took the job with a plan , yet so many people criticize him because he doesn't do what they think he should do. If he takes Williams and he fails , the same people criticising him now will be hammering him for taking the wrong QB. If Fields gets traded and flourish, he will get hammered . He doesn't win anyway he turns.
  8. That is an interesting name. He worked with Wilson and turned around and got Gino Smith respectable.
  9. When he got DJ, Wright, Stevenson, this years 1st pick and a top 40 pick next year, he wasn't taken anyone with the first pick.
  10. Did he coach last year? I thought Bieniemy was the OC?
  11. I agree, even if other teams think they stick with Fields, MHJ is a player worth a big bounty at the top. He will score another get bounty.
  12. Poles said he would have to be blown away from a rookie QB to draft him. Not sure who that is or if it's back to Fields, but I trust him to make the right decision.
  13. Been listening to radio and podcasts all day. Sports journalism are nuts. So many of them think because Poles didn't do what they wanted him to do , that it's just same old Bears. Poles is running things and Warren is his sounding board. McCaskeys turned the team over to them. Poles is doing what he planned to do. It was never a two yr plan. The offense has had problems so they'll bring new minds in to right the ship. Flus has an idea on what he wants out of the offense and the new coaches will have similar thoughts. Whether Fields or a rookie , they know what they want to do. You upgrade the roster no matter who the QB is and it will add to his success. We are a pass rusher and more depth away from a top 5 D. Poles will address the offense with more draft picks and free agents. It's either Williams or Maye, or he brings back Fields. Soon to be addressed. Anyway they go , it's an exciting time for the organization. They hired Poles to be the GM and I trust him to do the right thing whether I like it or not. I'm all in on his choices.
  14. First and foremost , Poles didn't get to this point in time and not know what he was going to do. He knows who he wants at QB, we just don't know. The scouting staff already has evaluations of the QBs, Poles now will do the deep dive. He will pick a OC that can adjust to whoever is QB and not one that is committed to a system. When he hires the coach , he will know who the QB is . I can't believe people think they're in a room wondering what to do next.
  15. If a OC doesn't get a head coaching job, you think they will not take a job? None of that's a problem, you want someone good that could be up for a HC job. You're not going to hire people on the basis ( they might not leave).
  16. Flus has 2 yrs left on his contract, logic says to align the contract with a new OC, but it's not necessarily going to happen. Poles has a 5 year deal, so I think they extend Flus for one year and give new coaches 3 years contracts.
  17. Doubt if it works that way but if Jim comes here, he clearly will have the power to hire him.
  18. Reich was OC when Eagles won the SB. He went to Indy and had a few successful years. They have a plan, we just have to be patient and let it play out. As DBDB stated Frank wanted Stroud, so he's smart enough to give him some credit.
  19. Fans always deal with emotion where GMs have to decide what is best for the future. I trust Poles and want to see what his plan is. If we win 9+ next year, probably have to say he knows what he's doing. If GMs reacted to fans every year, he would have a new coach every year.
  20. We need to wait assuming a shit show is a little premature . Poles obviously has a plan.
  21. I just posted that if you want eliminate my thread.
  22. I seen sources that stated Getsy fired, still need to verify it but, happy if it's true.
  23. I agree with that, they either clean house or keep everyone, I want them to bring in a new OC and thinking no one will take that job is short sighted. It's probably more of an elevation of a QB coach that want to call plays, there's 32 of them in the league, former OCs or coaches that want a second chance to prove themselves. They won't have a problem if they do that.
  24. Hindsight is a great equalizer, at the time Watson was the prize, several experts were in on MT , only a few on Mahomes. Trying to evaluate college QBs is obviously very difficult because so many teams screw it up. College stats are nice but they are not end all for evaluating QBs , most have great stats in college. 80% of experts had Young as being better than Stroud. Going to teams with good coaches matters just as much. Had Mahomes came to the bears in 2017, he would never be this good. Listening to the radio everyone is wondering why they haven't announced why they haven't told the press that their keeping Flus. He has a contract, they don't need to tell everybody. The only announcement will be FIRED. Of which doesn't appear to be happening. If you want him fired, the writing is on the wall, he's not being fired, like it or not, Poles seems to be concentrating on building the team. He's resigning fringe players to future contracts and preparing his college evaluation. Someone stated he maybe waiting for a Harbaugh or high end signing which could happen that would take time. I have no problem with an upgrade in coaching but a reset is an admission that Poles plan is failing and I don't think he thinks that. Flus appears to be coming back.
