This is Justin Fields last 17 games played. 278-437 63.7% 3004 25-11 92.3 QB rating 1237 yards rushing with 8 TDs total offense 4231 yards 33 TDs All of this with 60 sacks ( bad OL) only 11 games with a legit #1 WR. He is not as far away as we think. Talk on the radio today were saying that maybe we are to close to the prize, other top QBs make mistakes, take to long to throw, miss targets, . When we talk about them we didnt see every snap but just look at highlights and stats. Im back to being all in , once he gets up to speed , he will be one of the most dynamic QBs in the league.

By far the need factor but the first 2 picks will be a weapon and DL. I think he may find a OC in free agency. Several above average available and a cheaper position to fill in FA.

The problem is consistent play, he can do anything great QBs can do. My conclusion is, he's getting better. We always compare to the best case example, people develop at different levels. Justin just isn't the quick learner. My fear is we trade him and he does a Drew Brees type scenario. Went from SD to NO and became a HOFer. -

Poles likes athletes and got excited about his speed. Bad call -
I think the best 3T in the draft is Newton from Illinois. Probably could draft with our 2nd first round pick. Rated top 15

I seen that, its all about consistency and he is trending the right way. I seen an interview talking Justin and suggested they give him more time. That was Terry Bradshaw and said he didnt take off until his 5th year. He said Chuck Noll almost got rid of him the year before but his QBs coach talk him into 1 more year. He won 4 SBs.

Fields is trending on X today. Usually with Bears topics you get 4-10 thousand responses, right now Fields has 77.5 thousand hits.

Players like Brisker are what sets a physical tone for our defense . What he contributes to the new culture on this team is much more valuable than what Pickens could bring you. He was the captain at PSU and Poles was trying to build something here, so went with the guy that has passion and loves football. You dont want whiners in the locker room when you're trying to build new. In a few years our leadership will be built and we can handle some immature players. I think Poles gets it. Use Jenkins as an example. Because he didnt work hard in practice , he sat until he got the hits attitude embraced. He could have lost him but our best OLman bought in . I think Poles brings a Tomlin type attitude to the Bears as a GM. Flus fits that mold, that's why he choose him.

We can win 4 or lose 4 , we just have to let the season play out. The arrow is pointing up. -
Being a good coach is not always about the record, a complete roster redo does not help in the win column. The fact you keep the team together thru that stretch means something.
-
Poles will get a haul for that pick. Another one in the top 10, A second this year, maybe a 4 th or 5th and another #1 next year that will be top 10. That's how you build a team.
-
Stop that kind of talk, I could have a heart attack thinking about that team. We do need to draft a swing OT to finish that OL.
-
Next yr with more depth and another pass rusher, this defense will be top 5 in the league. In passing and rushing defense we are only trailing SF in league stats at this point in the league. I think one of the top 2 picks in the next draft will be a pass rusher. We could take the top choice even after a trade back. We have to bring back JJ even if its the transition tag. Justin Jones is playing well right now, I can see him brought back on a team friendly deal. Color EJAC gone, I thin he is the weak link in the D backfield right now. I think we can get a FS in free agency w/o a big contract to replace him.

He has shortcoming but also has special talent. Can i say the best running QB in the league? I think so. He is improving and if he is getting better at not turning the ball over, that's huge. When they interview opposing coaches, the first thing they say is how dangerous he is to scheme against. We lose that with a rookie QB and if you compare a rookies growing pains to his improvement, what might be best for the next two yrs is to retain Justin. The best QB-WR combo in the league is Justin and Moore according to passer rating. Now if there is a generational QB in this draft, Poles will probably take him. The problem is the one they call that doesnt look like that under scrutiny. If we take a QB with the #1 pick he will get more money than Justin makes next year. The 5 th year option will cost 25 mil which with 2 more yrs of increased cap space will be a cheap price. I still think drafting a prospect after our first 2 picks will give us the best situation going forward. We have 2 yrs to develop a QB and still retain Justin's upside. We will probably get another second round pick in a trade back , maybe at that point or later. Several examples of later picks thriving in the NFL right now. Prudy, Howell, Browning, plus Hurts and Wilson are still in top half of the league. Dont forget the upside of Bagent with a couple yrs of development. We are a better team with 3 potential starters on our roster for 2 more yrs than the prospect of what teams with injured QBs are going thru now.

If we get the second pick that is not chump change, you could still get a bunch of assets for it. Especially after the second picked QB last year turned out to be the better choice.

Read a story on Bleacher report ( national writer) where he says that Fields increased his trade value with a win today. It amazes me how they have no idea what's going on in Chicago. Every time he plays well , he moves the arrow down on leaving. He's not even close to being first tier in the league but how a couple of coaches have called him, the most dangerous man in the league at QB. Defenses have a huge problem defending him because of his feet. If Poles decides to move on from that, that will be hard to find again. His passing skills keeps improving, maybe one day he puts it all together. If I could change just one thing today, it would be a good center. -
With the Bears losing so much over the last 2 yrs, its hard to stay excited but they have now won 2 in a row over winning teams. As the season plays out we will know what this team is, if they win 3-4 games , that's 8-9 wins, that's a team getting better. That means Poles plan is working. Odds of him moving on from that are slim. If he works his magic with the first pick again we could add 4 or 5 blue chip players to this team. Our future is bright.
-
I seen one interview where he said he was his best friend. People bond when they spend time together. He will have his best season ever with JF1 at QB. They have the highest QB rate between QB-WR in the league.
-
I'm not saying he wont be a good QB but definitely not generational. He got his hype from winning the Heisman last yr but hasnt played in big games.
-
Finally players getting better, Flus actually being more aggressive. Poles was smart for building a good DB backfield and now a pass rusher. you hold the second ranked offense to 13 points that's worth a shot of tequila. You resign JJ and add another pass rusher and this kind of thing will happen weekly.

It's a long shot, but strange things happen in the NFL.

We are where we're at, we win out and our negativity related to the team goes away. That's why you have to wait for the full season. If we make the playoffs, I guarantee everyone will be back. It's funny how the season plays out. We just beat the second ranked offense in the NFC. I suspect 8-8 going into the GB game. It will be nice to play a game that means something. Since we have the most dangerous QB ( not my words) in the NFL, hopefully Getsy uses him right. We got a chance. -

We just beat one of better teams in the league ( 9-3) and it wasnt close. Teams can get better players can get better. The last 4 games will define our future.
