Since we're near the season end, lots of social media talking about the mistakes Poles made this season. Drafting V Jones - 3rd round wasted pick. Paying to much for Claypool. 34th pick. Botched the Ogunjobi grab Failed to get Ryan Bates as a restricted FA. Did I miss anything? Fans have expectations that a GM makes all A+ moves and never makes a mistake. The best in the league screw up a lot, but they do is make enough good moves that makes them winners. First I think he hired good coaches that teach, probably doesn't look good with a season ending 9 game losing streak. The next few years will show it. Secondly he created great cap space for next year. He added some potential core players ( IMO) Gordon, Brisker, B Jones, T Gill, Sanborn, Jury still out on: V Jones, J Carter, Josh Blackwell, Jaylon Jones, T Ebner, , E Hicks, Eric Kramer, D Robinson, Sterling Weatherford, Kellin Diesch. Some vets who may stick, Morrow, Wesco, Claypool, Justin Jones, Armon Watts. This draft and Free Agency will define Poles. As with this year, it will be 2 yrs before we know for sure. I give him a C+ for where he's at right now.

With one game left he is 64 yards away from a record. That's why he was playing when he shouldn't have and why he will play this week. Coaches will help him get there because HE WANTS IT. -
Every year things are always changing. Rams won the SB and with one of the best coaches in the league, several blue chip players and look how they finished. Injuries killed them just like injuries killed us but only a couple games apart? Every year is different.

We can argue about passing on Pickens or Watson but who was available when he took V Jones is the question? Jahen Dobson -- David Bell--Danny Grey--Romeo Dobbs No one has been impactful, Dobbs has 42-425-3. Lots have been better than Jones but that's why you don't judge draft picks on one year. V Jones will be a gadget player, 30-35 receptions, kick returner having one big play a game. It will turn out okay but not a great pick. Next yr Poles will improve the OL and add 1 or 2 playmakers so we can have a more developed passing game. Mooney, Claypool, Kmet and whoever will be enough to start with.

Hard to say with Carter but would still love to get Anderson. Think of the impact a Parsons type player would have on the defense. I would settle for Wilson and JS-N . I think Poles is smart enough to make the right moves. The only draft pick the jury is still out on is V Jones and that story is not complete yet.

Totally agree, he will end up being the best WR in this draft, the only way we get him is if we trade back a few times.

Morrow can be replaced by an upgrade but not sure if we invest capital this year in the LBer group seeing our other needs and the emergence of Sanborn . -

I don't want Adam to take this wrong because he is the biggest contributor on this site but he seems to be the site Dandy downer. I will have to look back, I don't remember him being like that before. I get we have to have a reality check that we are bad, but there is some positives going forward, its just hard to see after getting a beat down. I guess I'm lucky I'm 12 hours ahead and would have to go to a bar at 1 in the morning to watch and choose not to. I choose right. -

That's what he will do. He was handcuffed in his first season of roster construction and he sees what we see. He will be taking BPA what ever spot we land at. A loss like this is telling him he needs more bodies, he will trade down. -

That's a good sign, will have to see when inactives come out. -
Carter's lack of production bothers me then as PHX stated, he wasn't impressive in the bowl game.
-
It remains to be seen but Fields may be the best cab from that year.
-
It would be nice to get but odds are slim we pick high next year. I'll take Johnston, JS-N, Rice, Hiatt or Tillman and see what happens.
-
Is Harrison in this year's draft? I thought he was next year.
-
I agree, if he trades its going to be for a younger player, not WRs headed into their30,s. Anyone else see Tyrik Cohen is fully healthy now? Anyone see they bring him in on a minimum deal?

A couple of other players to watch, 6-3 Cedric Tillman, had a injury plagued year but in 2021 kicked ass. Also Jaxson Smith Njigba had injuries this year but in 2021 he outplayed Cris Olave and Garret Wilson. That feat leads me to believe he is very good. JSN is ranked as the 16th best player and Tillman is 53. Unless we trade back, I see a Edge first, WR in the second and a DT in the 3rd. It could be in the wrong order.

In October, Poles and Cunningham personally went to 3 college football games. Miss St vs Alabama, Syracuse vs Clemson and Virginia vs Georgia Tech. The Alabama and Clemson games are obvious ( Anderson, M Murphy) but who did they go see at the Virginia- Georgia Tech game? The top 150 players I could find were Dontavion Wicks, A 6-2 WR and Keion White , listed as a DE. This year, he had 40 pressures, 7 sacks, he's 6-5, 286 and runs a 4.69 40 time. Big hands and long arms. I find it odd they only went to the Virginia vs Georgia Tech game to only see 2 players. White is the 34rd ranked DL prospect. He's projected as a 4th or 5 th round pick. They went to see Anderson, Murphy, Bresee, White but never went to a Georgia game. I find that interesting.

Its cheaper to get rid of the coach since that seems to be the problem, they have a lot of talented players on that team. They should have been better.
-
I think we're going to draft a big body WR , maybe Johnston if we trade back. Tillman and Hucthinson are both 6'3 and have some game later in draft.
-
Adams had a good year, why would they get rid of him no matter who the QB is. LV was bad this year, cheaper to get rid of coach than players. They will make some changes but don't think its Adams leaving. They have 35 mil next year in cap space, but they will have difficulty going forward, I think they make a few changes and run it back again.
-
Its quite simple, A lot of it is because TV pays big money for the NFL and the league caters to them . The NFL is king but college football is not far behind , they both have big egos and do what they want. Them getting together on game changes are unlikely.

Actually in the beginning of the year before the two veterans were signed he was lining up at RG. Then once they tried Jenkins there, they found their RG. All of that depends on what Poles decides to do with Patrick. He is signed to 2023 but can be let go 1/2 mil dead cap.plus he drafted Kramer that was on IR all year. I think Kramer will probably be a Mustifer type , very average. There are several OCs rated in the top 100 in the draft but I would rather they use at other positions. We have 4 picks in top 101. I prefer they sign Pocic, keep Patrick as backup ( 3 position) keep Kramer around on the practice squad . Patrick will be gone after 2023. I hear Bear writers keep saying Mustifer is playing better but haven't noticed that in games.
