For what i have watched and that's limited, i like Daniels, for the reason you guys have mentioned. i dont want any smallish QBs, prefer size. Justin at 6' 3" 230 is perfect for a QB . i always worry about one's under 6'1" and close to 200 lbs . worry about durability. Poles will do the work and will trust his judgement even if he decides to stay with Justin. +1 in his last 7 games. If he finishes with a 5+ or better he may have a better upside than any rookies over the next 2 yrs. Tua didnt start out as a QB with great skills but now is hitting his stride in his fourth yr with great WRs , a running game and good OL. He had a good 3rd yr going 9-8 in his first yr with Hill. Hurts didnt hit his stride until his third yr on a already built team after he got AJ Brown. Same for Josh Allen his third year when he got Diggs. Anyone see a pattern here? The built a team around him and gave him a #1 WR. For me , Justin is in his second yr. Spending a yr under Nagy was a negative. That year they planned on Dalton starting and Fields sitting for a year. Never got any first team reps and then threw him to the fire with no OL and limited weapons. The first game he started he was sacked 9 times .A wasted year. So if you view this year as his second the view looks a little different. If you build the team ( happening right now) and taylor an offense around his skills he can win in this league.
  2. I ran a plumbing business for 15 years . I didnt hire an account to go bid jobs for me, maybe he learned enough to do that after a few years but he didnt have the experience. Same goes for Warren, he may want to oversee everything but havent even nailed where the stadium will be yet. I truly doubt he's worry about day to day operations quite yet. Of course he dont like the losing but every thing takes time.

I've only seem one game of Daniels and he played well. Seen 5 of Williams and he lost all of them to good competition. he did beat Colorado. Ended up with good stats but didnt impress me much.

Maye seems to be more of the pocket passer that fits what were doing now. Williams seems more similar to Fields as far as a wild card. Maye has a higher floor but not as high of a ceiling as Williams does. Hell Poles may like someone else more/ Los of choices this year.
  5. Warren was brought in to build the stadium, he lacks the experience in running the personal and daily football operation. I think his goal is to oversee all of it after he gets the stadium started . I dont think he was given the power to crash a rebuild not even 2 yrs in. Poles walked in with the concept of building thru the draft. in the history of the NFL , no one has completely rebuilt a roster with 2 drafts. I think he gets 4 but not even 2 yrs has passed and you are started to see what he wants. One more draft and we should be able to see the fruits of his rebuild. I get the talk of Flus being gone but thinking Poles could be gone is someone doing some powerful drugs. It aint going to happen. Next year is when he will judged on wins and losses.
  6. No olineman Edis perfect, Davis played well against Detroit. Can't say much about missing time, his non that lived with him, was dying. Family comes first. So he didn't get up to speed in training camp and had injuries because of it. It just played out that way. As AZ showed , The Football Scout showed a lot of good tape on him.
  7. For some reason a lot of people think he was hired to remake the Bears after just hiring a new GM and coach. He may end up being more involved but only after the stadium becomes more defined but they're not even sure where they are putting it. I suspect Poles gets 4 years to rebuild the team and if successful will still be here. If he goes then maybe Warren becomes more involved but that is years down the road.
  8. Is there the chance we beat the Lions physically and it effected their play in a short week?

Im not smooching for Bagent just saying there is many options on the table. The 2 most likely are Fields is our QB next year or Poles drafts a QB with one of his 2 first picks. The problem is its a little early to predict that now. If he plays like he did against Detroit , he will be our starting QB next year. 70% dont think Flus makes it to the 2024 HC position. Poles has to win next year to keep his job so rebooting may not get him there. Having a rookie QB may not advance this team in his first year. So are either of the top 2 picks, Bryce Young or CJ Stroud? No one knows that . I dont think there is a Mahomes or Burrows in this draft but I dont get the same info that Poles will have to make his choice. Lots of prospects to choose from after that. Several good ones could come out of this draft or all could just be a guy. GMs get new contracts or get fired according to those decisions. If Flus goes 6-0 or 5-1 in the last 6 games he may still be here whether we like it or not. Poles gutted the roster last year so all of those losses are not on Flus but this year has exposed a lot of shortcoming on his part. He is a first time head coach and also Getsy as a OC. If they go 5-1 going forward that means they were doing something right. That's why these last 6 games are so important to let play out. My take is Poles needs to win next year and his best case scenario is to keep Fields for the next 2 year and take a QB not named Williams or Maye. That gives him the advantage of Fields (ends up being the guy) while he can develop a prospect. Why would he take the risk of both failing instead of both being good or just one but which one? Wasnt the Farve - Rodgers an ideal situation in GB? They both were good. If he picked the right QB then in 2025 he could trade a good QB with a 25 mil salary which would be cheap . Move on with a young QB that he got to see his development. I dont think Fields has the kind of ego that would not welcome the challenge as long as it wasnt the 2 top QBs. This is the kind of draft I would like Poles to do, lots of trade downs .This many probably wont happen but we could load the roster and still draft a QB prospect. 2. I don't think that worked out for SF, 3 first rounders for Lance and ended up with the last pick in the draft starting for them. Good think they built the team first so that worked out for them. ( so far)
  11. Poles came into a situation with 5 draft picks, no first, and 5 mil in cap space plus a bad roster. He turned that into 11 picks. Still on the roster: Kyle Gordon, Brisker, Braxton Jones, Trent Gill (starters) able backups Elijah Hicks, Ja'Trye Carter. V Jones and Robinson aint working out. UDFAs Sanborn, Jaylon Jones are still on the roster. The losing sucks but he has completely rebuilt this roster only 8 remain from the original roster. Yes he has made some mistakes but has added many core players, 2 first round 2024 picks and 82 mil in cap space and his second year isnt over with yet. IMO he has did a very great job.
  12. That is just someone's opinion. I get the coaching changes but you fire a GM after his second year of of a 3-4 rebuild that has actually rebuilt the DBs, LBers room, in the process of the DL, OL, WR room and gave this team a group of good RBs in 2 years ? That's bullshut. Like you said, Warren never run the personal on a team before, strictly finances.
  13. As soon as the Packers lose, I will wish every one a happy T Day because I will already know it has been.
  14. No matter who the QB is, you run MHJ, DJ ,and add in Kmet, you have a serious passing game. Along with a excellent rushing game? You have something.
  15. Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
Lets go with your scenario and Fields plays well the rest of the year and Poles decides to trade him for a 2nd round pick ,or maybe even a #1. We draft McCarty and still have Bagent. It could work out that Bagent starts the season as the starter and McCarthy doesnt play this year because we upgrade the team enough to make the playoffs with Bagent. It may not be a rookie for any QB other than a Williams or Maye acquisition would sit. Would you be good with that?
  16. For reference I listen to the SCORE most of the day and watch numerous U tube videos' on the Bears and i am not the only person that thinks the way I do when it comes to praise of Fields and the better play of the D. Still lots of doom and gloom out there also. I almost feel like we are arguing politics at some point. TBH if everyone had the same opinion on this thread, it would be quite boring.
  17. I think Braxton Jones has progressed enough to project him at the LT spot. Would Alt or Olu F be better ,yes but why repeat a existing position when you need to add somewhere that is weak. We will have a top 3 pick so MHJ is in play, and with a probable top 10 pick, not sure that is tradable. We need to trade back and get a 2nd round pick back so if we drop back can we still draft J Newton ( best 3T) or a viable edge player ( Latu or Robinson)? We still need a OC, FS , players we can pick in the next few rounds plus QB prospect. To get a Jaylon Daniels or a Penix, we have to use a 2nd round pick we dont have as of yet but the way Poles have handled his first 2 drafts, I expect him to find one. We also have the luxury of cap space that could net us a new OC and FS. I think he works it out to be able to draft the best player available at our spots. Poles is not perfect but he has did a good job of building the roster. The OL needs a OC and swing OT upgrade. The D needs a 3 T and another edge. I think he easily fills those spots. Im not sold on Harbaugh as the next coach, due to the fact he will want more power than Warren and Poles will give him. Is he an upgrade, absolutely but there will be other choices. i want to see everyone in play before I swoon for Harbaugh.
  18. Here is a good breakdown of the OL play. ood breakdown of the OL play by (The Football Scout)

Here is a breakdown by Tim Jenkins, he does a good job of explaining everything.
  20. How many times do I need to say I want him gone? I was saying the defense has been playing better under his direction and for some reason you think that means I love that guy. I loved the first 56 minutes of dominating one of the better teams in the league , yes the last 4 minutes clearly pointed to coaching problems. A good coach would have given us a win. We dont have one , OC called a good game but sucked the last 4 minutes. I dont pretend to look thru rose colored glasses but I do see the team getting better. Fields finally started showing some better decisions and your take is we are 3-8. Poles will decide who the QB will next , neither one us will have a say in who that is. Although I do have a message in my voicemail by Ryan to give him a call back.
  21. Every situation has a positive and negative side, the last game loss totally sucked but their was some good things that happened. Some where in life I figured out that people have different opinions , mine doesnt have to agree with everyone else . I will never change my positive outlook on life, its serviced me well. Im sure when the Lions went 1-6 last year coming off a 3-11-1 record , lots of fans was wanting to fire Campbell. I get that and Flus isnt the coach Campbell is but you have to judge a season of 17 games not partial season records.
  22. I agree with that but the defense is playing better was my point all along.
  23. Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
Its will be his 4th yr at 7 mil but they have to pick up his 5th yr option which would be 25 mil. So technically they have him for 2 more yrs if he is playing well and could still draft a prospect ( McCarthy, Nix , Penix, Daniels and bring him along for 2 years. QB is the hardest position to fill in the NFL There is not 32 good QBs in this league so if we have a top 15 QB and also draft a prospect , we could solidify that spot with Fields, (?) and Bagent. With better coaching and a better roster, we could finally have a continued winner for many years to come. Poles may think Williams or Maye is special and blow this concept out of the water but having several QB options is not a terrible idea. Farve and Rodgers were on the same team for several years and the result was a multi year winning team. As much as I hate to use the Packers as an example but they had winning records 11 times out of the last 14 years and those were years the QBs had injuries. They were in the playoffs 11 times.

No shit, I think we get a top 3 pick and also a top 10. Ideally the first pick. NE, Giants ,Wash, or even Az may be desperate for a QB. I think Poles will set this franchise up with another miracle type trade. Chargers have a potential great QB and they are losers with a bad coach and shaky roster. To be fair they have a lot of injuries but so did we. Poles came from KC and Cunningham from Philly, both of those teams built the team and then got their QB. Liken Fields to the situation where KC had Alex Smith and as the 3rd QB taken, Mahomes sat for a year. I think he is using the same build plan. It may still be Fields but I think he also brings in a QB prospect to fall back on if Fields fails. We are one offseason from having the rebuild almost complete. He may think somebody is the real deal and draft him #1, he set himself up to make that choice in the next yr. Had we had better coaching and execution, we could be talking about a 5-6 record and would be having a different conversation. I think he has to win next year to keep his job, so does drafting a rookie guarantee that? Not hardly , so I think he gets a better coach and adds to the roster then keeps Field and a QB prospect. Mahomes was the 3rd QB taken in his draft, Hurts was pick 53 the year he came out. I think he doubles down and hedges his bet on the right QB.
