Draft two players or positions to nail round 2 if we cannot trade down
Stinger226 replied to ASHKUM BEAR's topic in Bearstalk
Ruiz will be the first OC-OG off the board, I doubt he makes it to us but would be a good choice. I wouldn't mind if we drafted 2 OLs with our first two picks. -
Draft two players or positions to nail round 2 if we cannot trade down

The strongest draft positions this year are OT and WR . Our 2 positions we are weakest at right now S and OL. So at 43 and 50 we have our best shot at 1st round talent are OT and WR but would still have some solid choices at S if one drops. 43 Erza Cleveland and Josh Jones both are in that area of the draft we could still have one available so what ever OT drops grab one. Since we need a contributor for 2nd round picks this year either player could start at RG and move to LT next year. 50 Jeremy Chinn and Kyle Duggar could be there at this spot and also Denzel Minns or Jalen Raegor at WR. Either position would help this team immediately so whoever is there take here. -
I suspect the most important thing right now is they trade back in the draft. The 4 picks in the top hundred is the best case scenario. With e everything happening we still get thr draft.

They need to double down with a vet and the draft to keep their options open and have competition. It will not be a early pick. 6th or 7th round.

I heard a podcast where a packers beat reporter with insight on Graham . He said if you use him 50% of the time and more for a red zone threat and pick spots for him that he would be an asset. If he's on the field to much he wears down and it affects his production. He said his blocking was better than advertised but that's why you limits his reps because he wears him down.

I think we still need to address the RB position. Available players: Spencer Ware DeAngelo Washington Isiah Crowell Ty Mongomery CJ Prosise Corey Clement These are RBs I think we could get for a minimum type salary. I would take Corey Clement, he's averaged over 4 yds per carry for his career and have recieving ability and also draft a guy late in the draft.

I wonder what their waiting for to clean up the TE room? I suppose they keep them through the draft and start putting the roster together. If we can get 40 catches and 6 TDs out of Graham that would make it palpable.

He is an experienced backup with a first round pedigree. No one knows if changing teams motivates him or screwed him up. Hope he does good but I don't think their set on him being the starter just more competition for the job.

Cohen doesn't make big money 2.2 mil and the team is in a must win this year mode, their not worried about his contract next year. A person could say everyone on the team is tradable because for the right price 90% would be. NY. , their is no evidence that Pace doesn't want to trade him other than .. they haven't traded him. But no evidence they want to trade him either. They want to put a team together to be good on offense, they want more speed , there not getting rid of one of the true ( speed guys) they have. That's just a common sense thing, I don't have any I inside information but I don't think you do either, we just have a difference of opinion.

He didn't have a good year but after 2 good years and a poor offense last year that contributed to his poor performance. He ain't going anywhere.
-
By the way I haven't seen anyone mentioned TylerBray landed back as the 3rd QB. .
-
I'm not sure why you keep saying Cohen is trade bait. The shitty offense didn't give much help to show his stuff. It seems like most his plays were side side instead of down field where he is a mismatch. They're trying to add more weapons not subtract them. A good back up RB will allow Cohen to just be the gimmick that that he is supposed to be.

The key to the season is Massie and Leno playing up to their 2018 level of play. If Massie fails , Germain, Coward and Bars can all play the RT spot. So that leaves the LT spot . The depth chart shows Dino Boyd as the backup. I suspect our first pick will be a versatile OT that could play the LT spot and play the RG spot as the grows. OTs that have a value aound our picks are: Josh Jones Eliza Cleveland Prince Tego Wanogho Isiah Wilson Luis Niang Jones is the only one that could start day 1. I like Ezra Cleveland, he needs to get stronger but has all the tools to be a plus player. Most people think 6 go in the first round. I thi k possibly 5 but we will have some choices. I wouldn't have a problem if they went OT and IOLwith our 2nd round picks.
-
Last year no one thought much about the Lucas signing and he played well in games he replaced Massie in. At least he never gets hurt and will compete at RG where he played the first 2 yrs. Or if he loses that battle becomes our swing OT. The new CBA allows for more OL to be on the roster this year. One of the 2 players added to the game day roster has to be a OL.
-
Bill you a plumber? Or just trying to be funny? I did that 50 years. I think Pace does well in 2nd tier free agents. Not sure if he is the new swing tackle or RG challenger.

I hope MT takes off and becomes who he is supposed to but not likely. I think MT starts and first sign of problems, Nagy is going to go with someone he trusts more with his system .
-
We are probably ranked in the middle for ranking for our WR core . The poor is a combination play calling, bad QB play and poor concentration by a couple of players. If we add a speed WR probably a 10 to 15 ranked squad. If the line plays better you see a great leap forward bt Mongomery. He was learning the system and poor OL play put him in a bad light. Also poor play calling had him meeting the D in his hole instead of a few yards downfield. They will bring a guy in and draft OL whether that is enough remains to be seen. they have to preform at 2018 line play.
-
That was news from a week ago, you in quarantine? No one knows if story was true. No one verified that story and with Foles he won't worry about if he is named the starter, he'll just take the job.
-
Maybe they haven't addressed OT is because they dont have the money to pay the few good ones that were in free agency. The rest they consider worst that what they have. Peters will get 7 to 8 mil. They don't have the money.
-
This causes me to think that if Foles starts, could they use MT in a similar role that NO uses Taysom Hill?
-
I think because of Bars surgery that they wanted him to have a full year of recovery and let him get stronger.
-
I didn't mean for us , somebody. I think we're probably set in our front 7 other than a OLB draft pick to add to the mix. Probably draft picks at S and CB on the back end. Wr, OL ( maybe 2), RB, TE and QB up in the air Pace is best at later round draft picks and 2nd tier FAs. His first rounders suck.
-
It seems the injury knocked him down the list. He will end up being a cheap get as a backup.
-
Probably just not worth the risk. We already have our bad signing for year in Graham.
-
They could easily drop Braunnecker, Shaheen and Burton . Pick up money and thin the herd. If healthy Burton is the best TE but if not cut him and Graham takes his spot. I think Bond is a OLB, I'm not sure. They list Brice as a CB? That's odd. NYC, if you were debating in a courtroom, you could convince the jury to get Peters but in the court of the Bears, they're just not going to do that. I also read where Peters expects to get 7-8 mil on a 1 yr deal.
