  1. I have always had those same thoughts. I hope Dabol gets fired from NY and Vrabel gets the job wirh DaBol as OC, he's the one that developed Josh Allen. That's my realistic projection.
  2. Do you have a source as to why Gruden was forced to resign ? I was never able to find his email information that got him in trouble.
  3. The OL, Jones injury is only a 4 month recover and if we can upgrade it would make him a swing T where his play skills should be. Jenkins will be back because until you replace him he is an above average G when playing. He needs competion, rookie, FA, Kiran A moving to guard. Only a few FAs that is an upgrade over Shelton and since Bates is signed for next year also competition. No rookie Cs are rated high buit if we draft a OT that can play center he may start his first year. We need to make it a priorty to get Trey Smith, but a few other vets, young and above average. Robert Jones/Dolphins or James Daniels/ Pitt. So resign Pryor, Shelton, Bill Murray (new FA) Trey Smith or other. Draft a OT and OG/OC . The key will be if Kiran competes at LT or moves to LG and if Bates is healthy. If we drafted 3 rookies and started them., that probably would have a learning curve. Nate Davis not wanting to play football anymore started a path of bad play and injuries the OL could not recover from.. On defense we will add a couple of new high pick DL. The back 7 are okay , they played at a high level until injuries to Brisker, Sweat, Gordon, Billings and the Stevenson fiasco. We can stand pat with Stevenson and Edmunds and hope a new coach picks up their play. You cant replace everyone on a roster because they were injured or had a bad year. Williams, Pickens, Jacob Martin, and even Austin Booker has shown some flashes. Dexter will excel next year and K Walker is a steady player. If we bring back Allen a late round WR to develop will do . We havent been throwing the ball to Kmet so Everett is not going to have good stats because of snaps, not because he is a bad player. If we fix the OL, Swift and Johnson will be mre effective and Ian Wheeler will be back from injury for added depth. We can get by with 4 high profile draft picks and a few high profile FAs plus resigning some of our own free agents. That's not 18 new players . Pickens injuries got him a wasted year. He transformed his body like Dexter but we never got to see the results. Normal progression of young players have to be figured in our plans. We cant write off everyone.
  4. I think we definitly need someone to work with Caleb but if Johnson fails as a HC we wont be much better than we are right now. Caleb has the talent that will shine thru whether its with the perfect OC or an average one. A good defense and running helps Caleb just as much as a perfect OC.
  5. In a way this is a good thing that it happened, then iit will force whoever is GM to address that position with our top 40 picks. If we sign Trey Smith and bring back Jenkins on a cheap contract, LT is a priority. I think Bill Murray showed enough to bring back to compete with Jenkins at LG. Shelton can get us by until a rookie OC is developed. Unless we sign a vet like Ryan Kelly or Dave Dalmen, that is probably what we end up with. There is no OC rated high enough to be a started day 1 unless we do something out of the box. Rookie/Kiran/Jones at LT Jenkins/Murray/Kiran- rookie at LG Shelton/Bates/rookie at OC Trey Smith/rookie/ Pyror at RG Wright/rookie/Pryor at RT. Only LT needs to be addresses in our first 3 picks. After Banks Jr and Will Campbell the OTs drop off until 2nd round grades anyway. If needed we could find a starting rookie OG with our #73 pick, many are rated high at that part of the draft. 2 DL and 2 OL can fill our important needs right away and with a couple of FAs we are back in business.
  6. I understand players end up being who they are. Braxton was an excellent pick for a 5th rounder but just has not grew into a top flight LT. He is a journeyman type, he wasnt a first rounder that didnt work out. He could start on half the teams in the NFL but we need better than that. He would be a perfect swing type T. That doesnt mean Poles failed on that pick. We did not have a first round pick in the 2022 draft . If you look back at OL players that excelled after the first rounf it is a very short list. This was a win for Poles to get by until this point in time. Now we have the draft capital to upgrade the position and have a competent backup. The OL has been a mess because of Jenkins injury issues and the Nate Davis fiascal. Bates only missed one game due to injury up until this year so Poles did not acquire a preinjured FA. Injuries are sometimes random and you cant predict them. Those are why we are a mess, not because of Braxton Jones.
  7. I think this is a realistic draft. I would assume Banks and Campbell is gone at 9 so this happens.
  8. 3 top 40 picks is pretty good assets if we pick right.
  9. The bears arent very good right now. Lions still have many blue chip players still playing. I believe they dont win another game the rest of the year unless Caleb has a great game in him.
  10. He calls a good game kept our bad defense out of place. I would have no problem with him or Vrabel.
  11. Caleb overall had a good day but he holds the ball to long and misses a lot of throws. I just got on here so i dont know if anyone mentioned this, but the defense misses Flus as the playcaller. Everything is in chaos. Nothing is in scync, good players screwing up. Cant wait for the season to get over.
  12. From a few of the sites I have looked at,c Will Campbell and Kelin Banks are ranked top 10 to top 15, so Im not sure either would make it to 20. Also Parker Brasilsford has already siad he is going back to school, so it will take some time for the sites to cacth up to realistic. Other than Wyatt Wium changing to OC, (early to late second) no centers are rated in top 100 playerrs. I think Jared Wilson is top rated and is around the 118 spot Mongo listed him. Probably no true centers would be starting this yr unless its a OT-OG that got moved I seen where Connor Williams who some wanted to sign this yr has retired, he couldnt play well after the surgery in Seattle.
  13. This last year Graham Barton played LT but had some center experience and is now the starting center in Tampa. He was drafted #26 in the first round , he was a highly rated OL which probably would have drafted there anyways because of his ability ti play several positions. Maybe we can draft one of these in the second round
  14. I fully see where that scenario could happen. Everything would be predicated on what we do in Fagency. If we get Trey Smith and another vet, it may cure our woes on the line. If we upgrade a few positions we could live with Shelton at OC. There is no highly rated centers in the draft that are predicted to start day one. I would not complain of that at all. If we get a Vrabel or vet coach, I could see a great Rb as a high option.
  15. There is no overall conspricy by refs to overturn games. Football is to random of a sport to try to even implement that. Now individually, it could happen but lately refs have been getting together to go over a call and making group decisions that would deter that. The 12th player on the field has been terrible this yr but it would so hard to try to blow one call that could change a game. If a ref consistantly makes backs calls, he gets less and less job time, so to affect a game, he would be out of the league in one yr. Im not sayng it isnt possible just not probable. Use tne Bears as an example, in the Hail Mary play there could have been a holding penalty called but rarely are those ever called in games. The Bears came back in that game so it would be hard to predict that play happening to change a game. Odds of us being in that position was slim so how would you pay a ref to change the game on that one play? Also the first Minny game, we scored 11 points in 52 seconds, who would predict that to happen to get to a point to throw the game. We were already ahead of the point spread.
  16. Last year we were 2nd in the league in rushing and didnt have as many sacks with was considered a worst OL. This year, Braxton would probably grade out the same but didnt get better. Jenkins our best O lineman, still continues as an injury risk. Bates was brought in to start at center and have only played 11% of snaps at OG because of the failure of Davis and injuries. He cant be graded do to lack of playing time. Shelton started slow but has been decent overall, definitly has earned being resigned as intern starter for a rookie or as a backup. Wright played bad to start the year but his last few games has been good. Matt Pryor is a decent backup but you dont want him as a starter. Bill Murray actual looked good but injury killed his chance. Kiran didnt have a good debut but still has upside. Kramer shouldnt be playing at all. Signed for next yr is Nate Davis, already gone, Braxton,Bates, Kiran , and Wright. I think they decide to bring back Shelton or Bates but probsbly not both. When you have a weak line you have to bring back Jenkins on a games played incentive contract. I think they bring back Bill Murray for upside and cheap, and Matt Pryor for depth. At LT Jones will be penciled in but hopefully a 1st round OT beats him out to start. I think Kiran may be moved to LG and compete with Jenkins to start. At center if Shelton is back, I suspect he starts , the only high rated FA is Dave Dalman/ATL(probably stays there) , so they probaby have Bates compete or a rookie. There isnt any high rated OCs in the draft so I doubt if they find one that could start his first year. One intriging option is Wyatt Milum, a OT that has played every spot on the line. He is a rated as a high 2nd round pick that would drfinitely be in our range . If we drafted him, he could literally be put in at any spot on the line and is projected to be a first year starter. We simply need to go after Trey Smith/RG in FA. KC is against the cap and Poles was there when they drafted him. He will be between 18-24 mil a yr. If we want to fix the OL we have to start there. Wright seems to be back on the path of high upside and can bring back Pryor as a backup. New players would be Trey Smith in FA, draft a OT and Wyatt Mium and let it play out.
  17. We keep hiring people that have never been a HC before and it scares me to go thru a learning process with a HC. Vrabel had Matt LaFeuir and Arthur Smith as OCs, so I think he can judge a good OC to bring in. Fox was the exception because they thought we could co9mpete right away and we are in that same situation again. Whoever is the coach we will be expected to win right away.
  18. I agree how well teams play when they have good running games. You cant really use it in a box thou, it's many factors that affect outcome. We are within 100 yds of Chiefs, Chargers,Texans and Viking yet they are all more balanced teams and we arent very good. A better running game would have been huge for the development of Caleb this year. Also good defensive play adds to winning. I think Jeanty would have huge impact on our team, but if you dont fix the OL, that will be limited. He may be enough of a want that other teams may trade up to get him putting us in a better position to fix the trenches. Lat year picking Odunze at 9 will have great future results but not that great in his first year. Had we pickes a OL there , Im not sure it would have had a great immediate effect but could be huge in the second yr. The handful of OL picked right after us hasnt been overwelming but later picks like Zach Frazier, Puni have shined. . If we can add several OL and DL in free agency, then that would be a great option. Our next coach will value the running as well as defense if he wants to have an immsdiate impact in wins and put Caleb in a better place to be successful.
  19. Maybe we should have a bad football thread to co exist also. Campbell makes some good decisions that look good and bad decisions that doesnt work out. In certain situations some things work and others would not be successful. A great play design could be blown up by a penalty but still would have been a good football play. Kramer blow up a perfect red zone play on a penalty and then when they did it again it worked out.
  20. You are right stats can deceive you, football has so many random outcomes there are many examples of stats not mattering. The only stat that matters is wins and loses and so many variables are involved in that, its hard to make points on stats alone.
  21. I think good teams have less errors to contend with during a game. Bad teams make more so each one is critical to the outcome but good and bad teams both are affected in wins and loses with strange bounces. Goff had 5 ints in a game which would normally mean a loss but did enough good things to compesate.. If you bet on football you realize how random luck is involved in a game, hard to pin point a certain data point.
  22. Someone put a spell on us, like you said , we lose in such strange ways.
  23. It is what it is, its not making excuses for anybody, its just taking notes as I watch the season turn into a diaster.
  24. I've been living on the ledge since 1965, i only got to get off for a few yrs. Cant say its comfortable out there but I would like to get off for good. I agree with your prespective. People talk about Caleb being damaged with all the chaos around him, but I believe his talent will overcome that. All the negativity has us looking down at everything but I think we are only a few players away but being a consistant winner with the right coach. How would this look had the Hail Mary would not have been successful at Washington? 5-2 with lots of confidence flowing on the team. We probably would have lost on the road to AZ but won at home with NE. 6-3. The positive vibes may have gave us a few more wins even with the coaching chaos and injuries. How would it look right now with 8-9 wins? We will never know.
