Its call sarcasm(its a form of humor) We wont know until they remake the roster how this will turn out. They could fail, but do you not understand we cant keep doing business as usual. What has been done in the past isnt working, 4 playoff visits in 19 years. They have to tear it down to build it right. Im hoping it all works out, that's the optimism in me. Marshall is part of the part that wasnt working. Good player but his baggage is a negative.

I didnt mean to put you down because you love checkers, I was just trying to make the point, there is more to the story than your brain lets you understand, and the new regime agrees with me. I read both Fox and Paces bio, and they love chess. go figure.
-
This draft is deep in WRs , I have read you can get a potential starter in the 3rd or 4th. I would like to see us get Cobb, and then add a good prospect in the draft, and then we have something.
-
Some people play chess and some people play checkers, the BM supports are quite obvious the checker players on this blog.

The facts are, our new leaders thought he was a bad guy, and they talked to several of the players about him, and not one wanted him around. The fact he is gone is the proof of those things were true.
-
Actually the league knew we were going to cut him, so getting anything is a good thing. He was a very good player on the field, but part of the reason for failures last year are once things start going bad , you cant have one of your stars creating chaos. There is a reason teams getting rid of him. That is 3 now, if you every played team sports and you have a guy like him in the room, it creates a bad atmosphere to try to have a winning mentality on a team. He was part of all the bad of last year, plus he had his worst year last year, and is 31 years old. For all of you thinking we're playoff bound next year, this is a 2 to 3 year job to fix all the bad drafting and bad FA signings. Good people do it the right way and that is from the ground up. Look back at the fact we were only in the playoffs 4 times in the last 19 years and then maybe you realize how big a job this really is. There doing the right thing.

I think they analyzed Marshalls valve and decided they didnt want him around because of the chaos. I have no problem with this, they have a plan and now lets see it played out.
-
I know its hard to due but we need to look to the future, not a broke QB with little good history.
-
Curtis Lofton expected to be cut from NO. Pace knows him, had 144 tackles last year. Another option with ties to the new leaders.
-
With Pace and Fox looking at tape from last year, they could have physically gotten ill from what they had to watch. IF they add several LBs then we have to assume they seen no valve in what we have, If they add very little, then they see players ascending. The point is, we assume the coaches was a big reason they didnt play well, the fact is they may not be any good no matter we assume. We have no idea what they think of any players, so they actions will show that very quickly. The attractive thing with Michael Wilhoite, Fangio knows what he is, not a star but was a starter on a very good defense, his valve has upside you can measure and will come cheap. This is a tight lipped regime, we will soon find out what they think.

this all could fall together quite nicely.
-
That would a great deal for us. Get a starter with a 6th round pick, that is familiar with the coach. We would be getting him on a cheap deal also.
-
I agree, he may be sly smart, they get Marriotta, draft a RB and win a SB, or not.
-
Im not sure hanging there hat on Cassel is going to get them to a super bowl, but definitely better than what they have.
-
I think, as always it comes down to money and years .
-
Just shows you how rumors take on a life of there own. It has been discussed but not initiated. May happen, but odds it isnt.
-
you wrecked my whole post, I forgot the rookie pool money,(see you are one of the smart ones)Im not

Ok all the smart people on here, be the GM: you get one expensive contract 10 mil a year (that means Suh is not on your list) you get one 6-7 mil contract 3= 3-4 mil contracts 3= 1-2 mil contracts BE REALISTIC and then do your draft FAs: Randall Cobb 10 mil Orlando Franklin 6 mil Jared Odrick/DE 4 mil Rahim Moore/FS 4 mil Cris Culliver/CB 4 mil Mark Ingram/RB 2 mil Nate Irving/ILB 2 mil Virgil Green/TE 1 mil we pick up extra money by cutting BM Draft: #1 Mariotta is available and we trade back with ST Louis to #10 and get an extra 3 and 5 WE select Bud Dupree/OLB #2 Karl Davis/DT/DE Iowa #3a Anthony Harris/SS/Virg #3b Ty Montgomery/WR/Stanford #4 Harry Anderson/DE/Stanford #5 Garret Grayson/QB/CSU #6 BJ Kinney/C/Kansas State #7 Josh Crokett/RB/NDS Offensively we have a QB prospect Grayson Ingram,Forte and Carey at RB BM gone so we got Cobb and drafted Montgomery Green for a backup TE Franklin and a center prospect in Kinney defensively we have Davis and Anderson, Ordick for the line. LBs Irving and Dupree CB Culliver Ss Moore and Harris Your turn

We need to get younger not older. More expensive, and if we add a WR he needs to give us speed. Last year defenses could play us underneath with no speed WR to take the top off.
-
Those are all good names. The only big contract I would like to see is Randall Cobb. Not likely but adds a whole different dimension to our offense and weakens GB. Other wise I would like to see Moore/FS, Cox/CB, Odrick/DE,and would love to get Franklin to pair with Long to anchor our OL for years to come.
-
He has 93 tackles and 16.5 sacks in 3 years, thats not pro bowl stats. I would say as high of a pick as he was, he is on the low side of his expectations.
-
There goes the Forte trade down the drain.
-
As somebody suggested, if BM goes, we could use a speed guy as a #2 and still grab a slot WR, someone like Beasley from Dallas.
-
There are lots more players being released that has game. I wonder if we grab some older pros or stick to the youth movement I expect them to adhere to. I think if there is a few leader type pros, maybe we sign a couple of guys over 30 to fed the new culture they with to establish.

If Fowler or Gregory is there, they will be our selection.
