Aren’t we glad that Pace moved up to get another sure thing? I remain shocked that management watched Pace moving up and giving away picks for years and did nothing. Is it really that hard to understand it is not a good idea to constantly mortgage your future for supposed instant success? How many times did the Bears move up and give away future draft picks under the Pace regime? Any of the top 10 posters on this site could have done better. What a joke.

I think we are lucky to win six games. New systems, new coaches, questionable QB. Not a lot of big time talent on the team. Can hope we come out of the season feeling good about some of our players and look forward to a full draft and lots of cap space available

I don’t follow closely enough to comment on the picks specifically but from what I have read we seem to have done the best we could with the picks we had. We aren’t going to be anywhere close to contention this year so BPA was the way to go. What I really like is that we didn’t trade up and instead traded down to get more picks. The previous regimens constantly trading up and giving away future picks was something I never thought was wise and smacked of desperation. I feel the previous regimens decisions were very poor with the results speaking for themselves. I hope the current management will build the team into a contender piece by piece, resulting in a consistently respectable team. Fans deserve better than what we have had for many years. The Bears will lose their fan base if they don’t do better.

Another testament to Pace and co failures

It sounds like the Bears have indeed become “pussies”. Slaves to the modern day definition of politically correct behaviour. Not what I signed up for when I became a fan in the 1960’s. I will keep an eye on developments but will be watching closely and checking out if this is so. This team seems to be rotten at the very core

Agreed with your point that we are going to have to accept a bad team for awhile, I would say two to three years. I hated moving up all of the time in the draft. Apart from Fields it was a waste. Overpaying for free agents regularly, Glennon has to be one of the biggest wastes of money ever. The philosophy is wrong, always going for today’s answers and ignoring tomorrow completely. If the Bears don’t dump the management this year I will stop watching, buying or supporting in any way until they do

Check out the poll on this site from earlier this year asking which QB should start. Just like the fan pressure from every angle the choice was Fields. Dalton would have likely given better results this year but oh well throw the rookie in and get him killed while we lose games anyway. Another rebuilding phase to come with at least two years of suckdom. Only good thing to look forward to is dumping the entire coaching and management staff, which this loss pretty much guarantees.

With Pace? Not likely
-
Exactly.
-
Pace has given up so many draft picks over the years. That has hurt us this year, next year and for the last several years. Poor long term strategy.
-
Maybe but isn’t Eddie Jackson still on the field every week? What does that say?
-
Amen. The last four years plus is nowhere near good enough.
-
He wouldn’t have done worse and he could have watched and learned. It did no good to start him so why do it? Rodgers sat for years behind Favre and he turned out ok
-
Exactly. It’s not blown calls it’s lack of production. We are not a force in the division, we are mediocre. Why are we giving up draft picks every year? Why are we starting a rookie quarterback who is not ready? Why do we have a coach who insists on calling offensive plays when he has been shown to be a failure doing so? I could go on and on. The issues are with management
-
How can we keep blaming blown calls and conspiracy theories? We lost, if it had gone the other way the fans of the other team would be giving up the same excuses. We lost. We are not good enough. Why? That is the question

Anyone changing their mind about starting Fields?
-
That was definitely the slam dunk of dirty play in that period. To be fair, those days are long behind us. It will always smart for me though
-
The Packers were very dirty under Forrest Gregg. Anyone remember Stills running Payton out of bounds over the players bench? I sure remember
-
The only thing I was thinking was giving Fields more time to get prepared to start, I hate to see him pushed and worry he will be ruined like MT was. I would have liked to see him have some more time to prepare to start but not necessarily the whole year.
-
And we traded up to get him. Wrong again Pace
-
He definitely did in that case, but I would argue he did in Miller's case too. It seems every draft he is moving up and giving up picks or something in return. Then he reaches on guys like Floyd and Shaheen.

One of the biggest things that Pace does that irritates me is moving up in the draft and giving up picks. Think of all of the times, AKA Miller-Trubisky, that we moved up and in hindsight didn't need to. Quit giving away picks Pace!

I am hoping that Pace and Nagy and company will make the Bears better. However, I am not entirely sold. Pace's decisions are questionable are best; Glennon was a disaster is the easiest example. Constantly trading up and losing draft picks is something I don't like to see either. Burton was third string in Philadelphia. Trubisky is unproven. Robinson is coming off injury. Our second round WR draft pick , Miller, has never played a down in the NFL so who knows? Nagy is in his first year as a head coach. I think there are reasons for hope but am have a wait and see attitude. There is a lot to be done with the team to get it to a high level and we are in a tough division and have a tough schedule. I am hopeful. But will wait for results before drinking too much kool aid.
