  1. I'd rather he NOT play in the Pro Bowl. Get well, Beast!

I agree. However, I understand why people have really turned onto Trestman. All of these big names such as Gruden, Jimmy Johnson, Steve Young, Jim Gannon....the list just keeps going....say he would fit Cutler like a glove and what a great offensive mind is. If you add in the fact that Emery has interviewed everyone under the sun and it sounds as if he likes Trestman better than anyone- that has to count for a lot.

That developed quickly.....right after the Bears notified him he wouldn't be back.

This. He chucks it far too much.

Keep them coming. I appreciate the hard work you provide and everyone else as this is where I turn to hourly for all the latest news regarding the Bears HC search.

You did call him a horrible GM. Horrible GMs don't help build a Super Bowl team and last 10 years anywhere.
  7. Well said. I myself am a police officer and agree with your assessment on how serious mj use can be. However, unfortunately....it is extremely commonly used by a lot of people. I don't condone it and believe the Bears should stay away from players who they KNOW have issues with it. Regardless, that is what the interview process/background checks are for. I wouldn't write this kid off because of mj usage as a young adult....juvenile/young adult recidivism rates can be favorable in these cases.

If there was any reason he wouldn't be a good fit in NY is because it took him until he had to unload 2 1st Rounders and a 3rd for Cut to finally get a QB. He's going to a team that doesn't have a QB and will have to revamp their offense. I still like him picking players for Rex Ryan, though.

To call JA a "horrible GM" is taking it too far. I broke down each draft on here last off-season, year by year and pick by pick....I gave him a C-. I'd agree with you that his draft record was below average to say the least. However, if you take into an account that if Harris' knees didn't go out, Tank wasn't a complete bone head and Vasher didn't plump up and not be able to play anymore....those are three players that could potentially STILL be Bears. Angelo couldn't have seen their problems IMO. As far as him identifying players with high ceilings/good floors....he's better at good floors. I say that because he's always been able to find talented special teams guys. I think he's had some bad luck with injuries, but at the same time the Bears were far from sorry in his tenure. If he gets the GM job with the Jets I think he'd be a great fit for Rex Ryan and I would wish him well. I'm not saying I don't think Angelo should have been fired, but I don't think piling on him as the #1 reason for our problems is the correct response, either.
  10. While Ogletree looks fantastic.... it is way way way too early to start targeting any specific player. We should probably reserve judgment until late March/early April after we've seen some combine numbers or had the chance to read about their private workouts. Ogletree could show up and a run a 4.8 at the combine and he'd be lucky to go RD 2 if that happens. Now I'd be very surprised at this, but you just never know. I'd still rather the Bears attack a LT in FA and STILL look OL at #20 if there were a big body worthy of the 20th pick.
  11. It is exactly like the old argument in baseball, which my dad constantly reminded me of when I was on the mound, "If a defender behind you boots a ball while you're on the mound- don't show any frustration and keep your cool. It would be the same as if you gave up an extra base hit or a home run....they shouldn't come and scream at you for giving up that hit." However, Cut is exempt from this line of thought for how badly he has been beaten the past few years. I'm hoping someone is capable of doing analysis of how many times Cut had to plant his foot and instead of actually looking down field, he had to run up or out of the pocket because the protection broke down immediately. I'd be willing to bet my retirement Cut has had to do that more than any QB in current league during his time in Chicago. If the only real incident Cut has had with his offensive line was that bumping on Webb....then Cut is a better man than most. If the assignment of the play was for Webb to absolutely at all cost not get beat inside on that play....just let him go outside....and Webb gets beat inside....yeah. You'd go batsh*t, too. Cut went crazy on Webb because he knew and knows that coaching staff never would.
  12. There were several plays last night Matthews stood flat footed waiting to see who was going to take the ball whether it was Kap or Gore. I watched Ware a few weeks ago against the Skins and he did the same thing. These are house on fire off of the corner guys....if the QB hands it off at the last second and the DEs and OLBs drill the QB...it shouldn't be a personal foul. This argument has not been mentioned but it should...in college guys take out the QB all of the time because thats their assignment. The Pros still can't touch these QBs even in the spread which is BS.
  13. Their zone blitzing scheme just doesn't work against a spread offense. The NFL should allow QBs to get rocked in that spread offense as they stand there deciding to hand the ball off or not....the DE or OLB shouldn't have to stand on the outside and have to wait to hit the QB. If the QB ends up handing the ball off, but still gets crushed....thats fair game IMO.
  14. Very surprised....but I feel if the poll was on "who you want" rather than "who you think"- I think McCoy would have a lot more votes.

Ding Ding Ding!!! http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...-fighting-irish I'm not sure why ANYONE would ever leave Notre Dame for ANY job. Think about it. With endorsements Kelly could easily pull down around a cool $100 Mil the next 12-15 years. WoJo did an article about a month and a half ago and rated the best football jobs out there. He rated the Packers job #1 and Notre Dame somewhere like #4. FYI the Bears weren't in the top 10, but did get honorable mention. I have no idea how he rated his "jobs" but I'm not sure how the ND job isn't as good as any sports job out there in every capacity.

  19. Thanks for sharing this and absolutely.....this is great news. I don't ever recall others being overly complimental of Angelo in any aspect through his 10 years.

I'd rather not go with Arians as I work with a die hard Steelers fan who is familiar with Arians chucking it A LOT. He won't accept the argument of- "The Steelers lost Arians and they fell a part" largely in part due to Mendenhall not getting back and losing Ben for so many games. I happen to agree with him. I'm also bothered by his health history combined with his age of 60 years old. I can't say I'm thrilled about the idea of Trestman simply because he's been in another league the past 5 years- regardless of how great his resume/references were prior to going to the CFL. However, if Emery hires Trestman that will have been HIS hire. That is exactly what I wanted in the first place. With all of this JJ talk of Trestman already "having the job" I don't buy it, but I'm not ignoring it, either. My guess is someone in the Bears organization leaked to JJ or someone close to JJ that Trestman is the front runner. I also feel the Bears are doing their dilligence by waiting until this week to wrap things up as it is 4 more high quality teams that will have staff available to interview/hire. That is if indeed Emery actually hires someone this week and doesn't decide to interview another 10 people.
