  1. I just want to bring up one player who was flying up draft boards after being a total workout warrior. No one knew if he could handle the position shift from safety in college, but now he's widely considered one of the best MLB's to ever play the game. Brian Urlacher!!!!
  2. One thing that should be pointed out is Walker's injury history. I think if you bring him in you either keep Moose or go after a veteran slot type receiver (David Patten or whomever) that way if Walker goes down you still have some options (since Walker does tend to get hurt). I'd love to go after Walker and get him and hopefully have him play motivated cause he would be an awesome addition, when healthy, to the WR corps.
  3. David Patten is a guy I would like to pick up for our #2 WR role (if the team plans on getting rid of Moose). Stick Patten in the two spot, keep Berrian or go after Walker/Bryant Johnson and than let the rest of the guys fight for the 3 spot with the goal of having Hester as your #2 a year from now (and you have the ability to slide Patten into a pure slot spot where he would excel as well).
  4. I don't take much into pro-bowl practice although I do think it is worthy to take notice to his tools. While a lot of the players may be in lackkadasical states and screwing around for the pro-bowl when you have better arm strenght than some of the best at the game it should be noticed. Still, Anderson played behind a stellar oline, had legitimate offensive weapons (Braylan is awesome) and would be comign to a far worse situation in Chicago. I think it is best not to give up two first day picks and cap room when the Bears clearly have more dire needs (ie in the trenches...in this case the offensive line).
  5. 7.8M would be a lot to give BB for one year, but unless the Bears plan on making a serious run at Chad Johnons/Javon Walker or some other legitimate WR, there really isn't any other option than to tag Berrian (the best option would be to resign him to a deal that works for both sides, obviously) to ensure that you have at least another season of Berrian while you work on finding or developing your new #1 WR. I know Berrian isn't a pro-bowler, but he's damn solid and by far the best playmaker the offense has. And when you have young, relatively unproven QB's you better make sure you at least give them weapons (maybe a guy like Peyton or Brady or Favre could get semi away without having weapons and having to deal with a real unproven WR core for a short time, but it isn't wise to stick young QB's in that position).
  6. There were some things in there I agreed with and some that had me shaking my head. Ryan being behind all of those guys was just puzzling to me.
  7. The Bears did hire him at one point correct? Wasn't he our dline coach or something for a season or two when Jauron was here?
  8. Personally I could see the logic in moving him, but it would come down to whether the Bears brass truly believes Hester can become an impact player. I am fully aware that he is the greatest return man to everp play (and this is after just two seasons) but in the return game it truly is relatively easy to keep the ball away. Yes, that is still valuable because it leads to the Bears getting the ball at the 40 more than any other team in the league. Bottom line if the Bears brass feels he can develop into a legit 1000 yard, big play WR, than you don't make the deal, but if he could, you make the trade knowing that the Bears have some capable return men on the roster (ie, Davis/Garret Wolfe/Nathan Vasher). But if I'm talking trade, it would not be a 2 and a 3. The Bears drafted Hester with a 2 and a relatively high one at that so that is not good value for a player (basically trading him for what he is worth)....it would be for a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder. I don't know if a team offers that (or a first this year and a first next year) but that is the only way I'd make that deal and at that point I think it would be worth at least thinking long and hard about making a deal (honestly, is it worth paying a pure return man that much money a year and we are going to have to renegotiate soon enough with him). Still I love watching Hester play and given what he did the past month of the season (he looked to be growing as a WR) the Bears may truly have an offensive weapon.
  9. Actually, the funny thing about Chad Johnson is that his teammates really seem to like him. I know Carson Palmer (or at least it seems like it from the games I've seen) really gets along with him. I'm sure they have there heated moments, but so do most great professional athletes at times (and both Carson/Chad are great football players) but they are also seen joking around an awful lot on the sidelines. I can't really think of Johnson ever throwing his QB under the bus. I'm sure he's said some things about the team having to play better, but he can't even be compared to a Moss or an Owens. Moss is a whiny prick who has had some off the field issues, while Owens is a guy that doesn't think before he opens his mouth (I'd compare him to Frank Thomas) but is actually a good person (ie, Owens hasn't ever had any sort of encounter with the law). Ocho Sinco is a guy who just loves to play the game (he plays hard every game and just likes to celebrate in good spirited nature when he scores).
  10. One problem, I don't think Orton has a big arm. I've seen him make too many throws now that have me concerned about his down the field arm strenght. He definitely has a sissy arm compared with Rex (and obviously a much slower release). But Orton has a much large frame which allows him to see things that Rex may not be able to (since he can see over the lines at all times). Flacco, I would think is a better comparison to Big Ben but even that I think is an unfair comparison because I think Flacco has the tools to be a better pure passer than Ben.
  11. Urlacher definitely played his best the last couple games of the season, but so did the entire team. They seemed to get the monkey off there back and stop playing scared and start just playing the game. It is too bad it didn't happen till the very end of the season though cause there is no reason the Bears couldn't be playing today.
  12. You listed two names I like at the WR position. BOth Blythe and Thomas are guys that I think have the ability to become impact WR's. Blythe was a potential first round pick a little over a year ago who fell off the wagon thanks to horrid QB play at Iowa State. Thomas is a pretty good athlete who is raw and I think could turn into a pretty darn WR. That said, unless the Bears lose Moose & Berrian (without bringing in another WR), I'd be surprised if they ended up drafting two WR's. I think if they lose BB you'll see them take one in the first two rounds. If they tag BB, this again is still a possibility, but if they resign him you'll see WR fall to the 3rd-5th round ranges (which could be where one of Blythe/Thomas fit in and I'd be thrilled with either of them).
  13. They are speculating that because Jerry Jones is an Arkansas alum that he will do whatever it takes to get McFadden. However, I think 14 is the range where people will start looking at the Razorbacks other back, Felix Jones, who could end up being like Ronnie Brown (moving up a lot of draft boards, despite playing second fiddle to another back...ie Cadillac Williams). Both McFadden/Jones are very talented, McFadden just has a lot more highlight films that go along with him and its why he will go top 10 (but if he was there at 14, the Bears would probably have to think long and hard about taking him or trading him because there would be some strong trade offers on the table). You could also have a team looking for the WR they want willing to move up a couple spots to the Bears (since there are so few WR's, any team that really wants one or has one target, would have to come calling). I'm talking about Deshaun from Cal (who is probably the first WR off the board and could be there at 14 and than Malcom Kelly who would be the second and has stellar hands, good size, and good speed). Oh and I'd be thrilled if the Bears picked up 2 1st. If Phillips fell there, you could get a safety and than a tackle, you could potentially take a WR and a tackle or get real gutsy and take a guy like Mendenhall/Stewart, a WR or tackle with your other pick and than in the 2nd round take the other position (and get three offensive players within the first 45 or so picks, while you still have a couple third rounders, one which would get your QB and the other which would get you a safety or a defensive tackle or whatever else you want).
  14. Jones/Hardy/Oher are all pretty likely 1st rounders. The only one that legitimately could fall out would be Oher simply because there are a shitload of tackles out there (which is one reason why I could see the Bears taking a skill position at 1 and than go oline in two...in fact if Ryan falls to 14, which I doubt happen, I'd be stunned if the Bears didn't take him). Right now I'm thinking the Bears only make the pick at 14 if a stud falls to them, otherwise I think they move down. If they only move down a few spots, I think they'll take a WR or RB (assuming a good chunk of olineman are still on the board) and than they'll land a lineman at 2 and target Flacco in the 3rd (but have there ears to the ground in case they need to trade up to get him). I'd be happy with an impact lineman (Baker or whatever tackle ends up being there at 2, a QB like Flacco, and a quality skill position guy, whether Mendenhall who can come in and help as a great receiver out of the backfield and a guy with a shitload of speed/athletism which would be an awesome combo with Benson and Peterson as the 3rd string). Maybe find a taker for Wolfe for a 4 or 5th rounder.
  15. Well, I can't complain with any of the three guys in round one. They all look like legitimate NFL starters and any of the three would fill a major need. The second round picks are very hopeful, considering there is a chance all of those guys are off the board by the early 20's, which makes it highly unlikley they make it to the 14th pick in round 2 (if any of those guys are there at 2 good lord you take them). Jones may be off the board by the time the Bears pick (he has the ability to rise that quickly, although having Mendenhall/Stewart also in the class makes things more likely that one of the backs falls till late in the 1st, maybe early in the 2nd). The fact that you have Hardy on the board in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds (considering the lack of talent at the WR position, you'd have to expect a major run on WR's to go and any worthy WR to be off the board by the end of the first and if they make it to the Bears pick (I'd take Hardy in a heartbeat) in the 2nd I'd be thrilled. Falco may be gone by the 2nd round and there is zero chance he is there in the 4th, zero. Let me say I hope I'm wrong in all of this cause if the guys you have down are on the board in each of those rounds we are going to have one hell of a draft.
  16. I think you are right about Moose. The big reason why is that Moose is a great guy to have around Hester to teach Devin the intrecacies about being a wide-receiver. Now, I know thats why the Bears pay to have a WR coach but it isn't the same. Having a guy out there on the field that can help Hester is just as important, not to mention Moose is currently playing in the league and has had lots of success in the league so there are many things he'll be able to pass on that Drake may not be able to.
  17. If you could get a receiver like Chad Johnson for a 2nd round pick and Alex Brown you do it. If you could get them for even less you do it. All I know is Chad Johnson is an impact WR. He's the type of player the Bears have never had at the WR position (in the history of the franchise). Financially the Bears have cap room and adding him probably allows you to let Berrian walk (or if you sign Berrian you clearly have a pretty lethal WR core with Johnson/Berrian). And to an extent I buy into what Johnson says because when you have an elite WR, you have a WR who can be a QB's comfort guy (plus Greg Olsen/Dez Clark) and it will make it easier for Grossman/Orton to have bail-out guys to go to. I'd be totally down with a Johnson, restructured Moose, Bradley, & Hester WR core.
  18. The more I've seen of Flacco the more willing I am to take him as high as the 2nd round. I'd be giddy if they got him in the third, but this guy has all the NFL tools. The only questions surrounding him are a little longer release (and I've seen many analysts indicate that really isn't an issue) and whether of course he can break down and read defenses (and in all reality, that is a question about every QB entering the NFL). I'd also be all over Brennan, but not till round 3. I'm starting to think if the Bears can address the line via FA, that I would be okay with going with Rashard Mendenhall in RD 1 (I know it isn't a massive need pick, but the guy is a stud). Stewart is another guy I really like too. Than you hit QB in RD 2 and draft some project lineman in the 3rd round (cause the Bears do need to draft some olineman, but if they sign a guy or two via FA they can afford to take a couple lineman later on). Another thing I'd be down with is taking Jamaal Charles (Texas) if he's there at three (if you go olineman at 1, Qb at 2, Charles with your first 3rd rounder). Charles is the perfect compliment to Cedric Benson (fast as a mother f'er but probably not big enough to be a 30 carry a back player, but thats fine, you give Benson 15-20 and Charles 10-15). The problem is the Bears had that terrible pick in Garret Wolfe last year.
  19. Check out Fox's website as they may stream it, but also hit up some torrent sites. Basically google tv show torrents and you should find plenty of places that would probably have it available for download.
  20. I don't know much about the recent minivans, but the Honda Odyssey's have always gotten pretty good reviews. I would hit up edmunds.com and read up on the various minivans for the model years you are interested and see what they have to say. The Chrysler/Dodges were pretty darn good for a number of years but the last time I researched/looked at minivans was probably 7 years ago so I'm sure things have changed a bit.
  21. I would probably think long and hard about Stewart/Mendenhall and the Olineman. I don't think there is a WR on the board worth picking, but the RB's would be solid value picks at that spot as would the tackles (even though they aren't the lineman). The only question would be what Angelo truly thinks of Benson. If he has faith the Bears won't draft a pick that early and will instead bring in a veteran backup. If they don't, you will see them pick a RB in one of the first two rounds.
  22. Considering the friendship/respect Lovie has for Rod Marinelli I would put the odds at very slim that Lovie would go out and pick up a football player that Marinelli cut for attitude and other various reasons (simply because if Rod doens't like him, that probably means Lovie wouldn't see him as a fit either).
  23. Haha, I love that Chuck Norris one. I think we need a Rambo one after the awesomeness that was the latest Rambo movie.
  24. I would love Flacco in the second round, but I think anything sooner than that for a QB would be a mistake. He has a buttload of tools and would be a perfect guy to come in behind Orton/Rex and be groomed for a potential starting position (and if Orton or Rex develop you have a good problem in the sense that you'd have multiple QB's with talent, none of which would have high price tags and you could eventually swing one of them off for a draft pick). I should also note that I want the Bears to move down in the draft and just stockpile as many day 1 picks as they can (as I think they have multiple needs which can be filled real nicely by having a late 1st, 2 2nd's, and 2 3rd's (we already ahve the 2 3rd's and if the squad can find a way to use its first round pick to get another 2nd we would be in business).
