It may have more to do with the Bears believing that they could slide Bowman onto the practice squad while McBride would surely get picked up.
-
Is this guy any good?
-
Jason, you honestly have to be the only person in the world that would call the Bears WR corps talented.
-
Yep. If you want to talk about major busts, you'd have to point at Cedric, Haynes, etc. They were first round picks and when you miss on those they have to be considered busts (heck, even Columbo). However, there was solid rationale behind the picks which makes me less hesitant to truly rip Angelo for such. Of course the other luxury pick I'd have major issues with was Devin Hester as I felt it was completely assinine to take him when we did (given the other needs the club had). But it ended up turning into one hell of a pick.
-
Shove it. This isn't a place for two people to continue to make personal attack at each other after personal attack. Put each other on ignore lists because your treatment of each other won't be tolerated on this site.
-
Bazuin is easily Angelo's worse pick since becoming GM. He took a reach of a DE in the 2nd round when the team already had Anderson, Ogunleye, & Brown and had severe needs all across the offense.
-
I've long said that this team has a chance to be absolutely horrendous. If the defense remembers how to play, maybe the team lucks out and goes 7-9 or 8-8. But if it just repeats what it did last year, we are talking about a 2-4 win team.
-
The problem lies with the players and staff. They all think they are freakin great and rely on that so called greatness. I got news for you, great defenses dont' finish 28th in the league in the past year (injuries or not). And yes I realize injuries were a big problem but all I ever hear out of the players and coaches mouths are excuses for why they didn't do this and that...how about they go freakin out there and realize they haven't played right and actually fix things (instead of the stupid, oh were rusty bullshit).
-
Again, I still think when it comes to QB's a lot of there success rides upon the system they enter. In fact, I'd probably go as far as saying that 65% of there success is based upon them and about 35% depends on the situation they enter (it could even be higher than 35%). By situation, I mean offensive system, offensive weapons, coaching staff, etc.

Nice to note the franchise has enough money to trade for Boldin and give him some money.
-
No way do you trade Jones. The whole point in bringing him in was to have a veteran who can share the workload with Forte. Rookie rb's hit a wall and the best way to handle them is to have someone else split carries with them so you can get positive production from that rookie RB throughout the season (ideally in a method that the Colts used in Addai's rookie season).

Moose raved about Rex for two years and than as soon as he got cut after having a piss poor year the story changed. The guy was just downright selfish.
-
Dusty was once again a beast. He moves interior lineman like a madman. I really hope he stays healthy because he's got one hell of a motor. Needs to stay in his gaps better, but damn he's got a motor.
-
I'm starting to think that Kyle does a better job calling pass protection than Rex. I don't know how involved a QB is in pass protection but I'm certain there is some involvement. The only possible contradiction to that is Rex never got much pressure during the Super Bowl season (because last year and this preseason the line has been far better for Kyle than Rex).
-
Did you have the national feed or some other feed? I'm a big Aikman fan and he was raving about Rex the teammate. I don't think he'd be saying that nor do I think we'd have had so many Bears player stick up for Rex over the past few years (despite the few comments from people like Tank Johnson and Ron Rivera) if they didn't genuinely like the guy.
-
I think Bennet is the teams 4th stringer and when Hester is tired will be the slot WR. The Bears are very high on him and he's already a better route runner than Bradley and much quicker/athletic than Booker.
-
I don't know who ends up getting released, but usually someone interesting becomes available.
-
Whoopty doo...he made a big catch on a play where the CB made a mistake. The route was terribly run (which is Bradley's biggest problem). I'm not trying to discredit him because I once hyped Bradley as much as anyone on here, but I'm impressed by good routes and good catches and Bradley did neither tonight, imo. Although Bradley almost had a 2nd big catch where Rex would have had a TD as would Bradley (that ball was perfectly thrown...except for Bradley getting PI'd with). So again, I'm probably harsh on Bradley but Booker, its been 3 games and he's been completely non-existent. There is a reason for that. We have QB's who are trying to win a starting job (or did) and if Booker was open they'd have been leaning on the vet WR a lot (but they didn't and that was a telling sign, imo).

Rex was the first one to high five Orton when he left the field. Hell, Aikman was raving about how Rex and Kyle have handled the whole situation and talked about how while they aren't friends they are professionals and have been trying to help each other out. Rex isn't the guy and I'm sure he's dissapointed about it but he's behind Kyle just like the rest of the Bears are. I also don't expect Rex to get cut and I'm glad we have him as a backup as he's familiar with the system and if Kyle went down I'd think we'd still have a shot at winning.
-
We also can't ignore the fact that its all started since Babich showed up.
-
Orton looked fantastic and made me kind of excited to see his development this season. That said I'm still concerned about the lack of a WR corps but Rashied certainly looks improved although he should have had 3 TD passes.
-
28th ranked defense in the NFL last year. Injuries be damned, people can't ignore the fact that it hasn't just been the pre-season where this D has played like piss. Its been an on-going trend for a while.
-
I know people will tell me Marty is a veteran but he's looked absolutely horrendous in the field. I haven't seen him get open much at all and when you just watch him moving over the field he looks absolutely sluggish. I can't stand Bradley either because I think he's lost the athletism that once made him a potential impact player. I'd prefer releasing both of them and picking up a veteran that gets released elsewhere (it will happen) or keeping Hass.

Orton chosen over Grossman as starting quarterback
DABEARSDABOMB replied to 'TD''s topic in Bearstalk
I'll go more in depth on my game thoughts tomorrow, but damn did Orton look fantastic. Good juice on his throws, tremendous pocket presence, and great decision making. Hell of a game Kyle!!! -
I've seen absolutely nothing out of Marty Booker, so I'd be perfectly content releasing Booker and opting for Horn (who has been a better receiver than Booker over the course of his career, imo).
