  1. Fantastic hire. This is one of the real good OC's in the league and he got sucked up by a team in dire need of some offensive direction. THey also will have to get some offensive skill players though cause an OC alone will not save there ship. Saunders is another very good OC out there right now as well.
  2. In all seriouness, if this is Al Davis plan than the only thing I see happening next is him moving the team back to LA. Afterall, that would be the only thing left that would be dumber than firing your young head coach to get a tard like Denny Green. The Kiffin hiring got a lot of heat last year but he's a good mind who did a nice job with a shit team. Davis just has no patience and is a complete tard.
  3. This really doesn't make sense. The new head coach should be the one to bring in his assistants. Williams and Saunders will quickly find jobs though. Good lord there are a buttload of really qualified coordinators out on the market right now.
  4. Mid to Late 1st, but I would imagine that a positive workout/combine would move him into the top 15.
  5. Maurice Jones-Drew is a strong back. He may be small, height wise, but his body type is not that of a skinny/undersized running back. Drew can run strong through the holes and take a beating while not losing his speed. He is the exact opposite of what Wolfe is currently and what Wolfe will ever be. Garret Wolfe will be nothing more than a potential 3rd down back. He was a horrible pick and I hope somehow the Bears figure out a way to make him productive but I am not holding my breath. That isn't to say he wasn't great on those screen passes, but I don't see much value in a guy who does one thing right and everything else poor (when you can't run inside the tackles you are pretty worthless in my book as a RB).
  6. I want to quickly remind people that while Crowton was innovtative (he brought the bubble screen to the NFL) he was far from a good offensive coordinator. His show proved to be a gimmick in the NFL. The same would be proven if some guy came to the NFL and decided to run a collegiate like spread offense or the option offense. I am thrilled to death the Bears will never have to deal with Crowton again. I'm not going to deny he isn't a good offensive mind, because I think his system works pretty good in college but it doesn't mean it will work in the pro's where the players are smarter, faster, bigger and well BETTER.
  7. While I know deep down there would have been some issues with Martz in Chicago I must admit I'd have been excited to hire him. I still think Mularckey & Sporano would be better choices as OC's but it isn't going to matter as Turner is going to get another season to work with things. I'm guessing it is largely because Turner's success will be tied to Orton/Grossman who are going to get another season. If things work out, both will be back and the Bears will be in the playoffs and heading in the right direction and if things don't work out, well the Bears might find themselves in a slight rebuilding mode. I'm an optimist because I believe strongly in Angelo and to a lesser extent Lovie (although I think Lovie made some awful decisions as a coach this past year) & Grossman (hell of a talent, but there is no denying the step backwards he took for most of the year) and I expect the Bears to be successful again next year.
  8. Nickerson resigning had to do with personal reasons. He has had some people close to him fall ill and it has made him want to spend more time with his family. I think he was a hell of a football player and I know he'll be a heck of a coach when he ends up coming back in a few years (he said he will be back, I think he is waiting for his kids to grow up a bit more and things to stabilize in terms of the health of his family). The Bears definitely are going to have to find a quality guy to bring in, especially since Jamar Williams is going to be fighting for a job and depending on the development of the Stanford LB (Okyo or whatever his name is), you may end up having two new starting Lb's before all is said and done.
  9. This show was freaking entertaining. It hurt watching the one girl tear up her knee. After I tore mine up a while back anytime I even think of someone hurting there knee it flat out creeps me out.
  10. I would absolutely love Mendenhall. He has the ability to be a legit, top notch RB. He has game breaking speed, good vision, and it appears to be enough strenght to be an all pro running back. However, the Bears have a major problem and without a good oline your QB, RB, and entire offense won't have any success and because of that the Bears don't have the luxury of taking a RB in RD 1 (unless they spend some big bucks on the oline via FA). Rice had a very impressive game at Rutgers and he is the type of back that I think behind an above average oline has a fantastic career. He has good speed (not great), with great vision and strength and always seems to go forward and gain yards. I think he could be an Emmit Smith type back (ie, not amazingly fun to watch, but gets the job done...and no I'm not saying he will have Emmit's career). I think Rice could be one of the people the Bears target in the 2nd round. I also wouldn't have as much of a problem going with Mendenhall if the Bears moved down to the 20's and drafted him but also stocked up on first day picks to add some talent (this would be based on them signing a FA Tackle and than using the draft to nab a guard or two).
  11. I think Orton will get a serious shot, but if Rex plays/practices at a high level he will be the guy because he has the better skill set. However, Orton really seemed to impress Lovie and a lot of the Bears brass and I know he opened my eyes quite a bit, especially by the way he seemed to really feel the pass rush and make things happen. Kyle definitely has the worse tool-set but that doesn't mean he can't be an above average QB in this league and I for one will be excited to see the two battle things out in training camp. However, once a starter is named I want them to get every opportunity to succeed without having to completely look over there shoulder cause the last thing I want to see is Kyle for 2 games, Rex for 2 games and just a steady back and forth between the two.
  12. I absolutely love this move. Swisher is going to be the face of this franchise along with Buehrle for the next 4-5 years.
  13. I'd be stunned if Rex got a big money contract. No one is going to openly offer him the starting job and at that point he and the Bears know it is better off for him to come back to Chicago where he knows the system and knows that the coaching staff believes in him and that he will end up getting a fair shake in the competition. I like it too because the competition will hopefully make both guys better.
  14. I got to admit, I liked how Sapp had fun on the field. It may come off as jackassery at times, but when a guy loves playing the game it is fun to watch.
  15. If the Bears want a for sure starter, take Julius Jones. Otherwise I go for Justin Fargas (open competition) or Chris Brown (good when healthy and solid competion). I won't touch Turner because it is too much money to give up to a guy who has never been a feature back. I should point out that Fargas is a guy I love. He has all kinds of ability and speed and the Raiders at one point had totally fallen in love with him but something happened and he fell out of order (I don't know if it was an injury or what) and he kind of dissapeared for a year or two before finally bursting out this season. He had a great time with limited weapons and should have success in Chicago, plus I think he will want out of Oakland (just to get on a better team and the Bears could offer that). Basically Fargas and Brown are capable starters and either of them when 100% can easily be an average starter in the NFL. Julius Jones has shown he is an average starter and I think he has the ability to be even better, although Barber is just one of the top 7 or 8 backs in the league so he took a beating. If the money is right go Jones, otherwise settle on Fargas/Brown knowing you would have a couple that could start and as long as the oline is upgraded that should be good enough.
  16. I said the same thing about Hester too though, so what do I know.
  17. Top 20. There are many that feel he is the #1 QB off the boards and for a long time everyone and there brother was projecting him to Atlanta (but that was when Petrino was the coach). Dolphins will be another name tied to ever top QB on the draft boards but I don't think it will be what Parcells does.
  18. That was surprisingly a super awesome movie.
  19. He looked like he had a pretty strong arm to me, based with the amount of stuff he was able to put on the ball when he was off his back foot due to pressure or on a scramble. I got to admit that clip was pretty impressive, mainly because he showed good vision and the ability to make things happen under pressure. The one main concern I'd have would be his smarts (I think it is important for any QB drafted to be incredibly smart, football wise, and if I were a GM I'd have a nice set of tests set up to test the Qb's smarts) and what seems to be a relatively longer delivery (he definitely doesn't have a super quick release, than again, I've watched so much of Rex and his ridiculously quick release). Still, I'd have zero problem drafting this guy in the 2nd or 3rd (I think where we pick in the 2nd may be a bit too high, but that isn't to say the team can't move down or make something happen to get him).
  20. I honestly think the Bears know that Beekman physically would have been used and abused if he started and that would have been detrimental not only for the Bears winning the game but also for the Bears being able to evaluate Rex Grossman, Adrian Peterson, Garret Wolfe and anyone else relying on the offensive line. In regards to Hass, lets be honest, he has great hands but if he was the next stud posession receiver teams would have probably drafted him higher. That isn't to say he can't be a quality player but the Bears obviously deemed it more important to get Bradley, Davis, and Hester more opportunities and it is because all of those guys are superior athletes to one Mike Haas. Hell, I think the Bears have some great athletes in there WR core but that doesn't mean you have great WR's (which I know Lovie seems to think we have a solid corps). Berrian needs to be back and I hope to hell JA realizes how terrible this WR core is without BB.
  21. I would be stunned if the Bears didn't restructure with Brown. I know Brown may ask for something in return but maybe the Bears extend his deal an additional year or two with some sort of roster bonus in a year or two. Basically it would be an incentive that he would get paid if he stayed healthy and produced and if he didn't the Bears would still be able to get rid of him without a cap hit (plus I'd have a handshake agreement about him joining the coaching staff when he retires).
  22. I believe it was important for Angelo to stick behind his coach. Bottom line I think the best thing organizations can do is allow the people who they have hired to do there jobs do there jobs. Angelo is the guy who is bringing in the personell and while he should take input from Lovie the final call is Angelo's. I expect the same from the coaching staff with Lovie getting input from Angelo but the final say being Lovie's. Lovie has still earned that power, imo, and I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. If the team has a bad year next season, than I will start to point a finger. Bottom line this organization started improving when Ted Phillips came in and brought in good football people and let everyone do there jobs and I don't want to see the Bears go around that. If Angelo doesn't trust Lovie to hire/bring in the correct coaches than he shouldn't be our head coach.
  23. Erik Ainge intrigues the heck out of me. I don't think he goes in the first two rounds, in fact he may even slide past the 3rd but I would have no problem if the Bears nabbed him with there 2nd 3rd round pick (which I think comes from the Chargers). He seems to have decent tools and has looked pretty darn solid in the game I saw when he was at Tennessee. If the Bears take a QB in the 3rd round or later I would like one of: Brennan (if he slides), Falco (I doubt he slides), Henne, Dixon (his injury will send him down and I would not be opposed to taking a chance on him late in the draft), Ainge, and Booty.
  24. I'll search around the web and see if there is some sort of add-on that can make things more threaded for those that prefer that option. I haven't seen anything more so than the outline view but if I can find something I'll definitely set it up.
  25. How do his tools grade out in terms of as an NFL player. Also, is he going pro?
