And Cousin's Agent has verified it - 4yr deal with Falcons. -
Cousin's Signing with Atlanta - 4YR Deal
DABEARSDABOMB replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
Vikings and Raiders seem like most logical options - I suppose Denver or Seattle are other wildcards along with New England or Giants. -
Dust settling but multiple reports popping up that Cousins will sign 4yr deal with Falcons. No word yet on $'s. Not a good look for Field(s) but now the dust is settled at QB.

Bears sign D'Andre Swift (3yr 24M - 15M guaranteed)
DABEARSDABOMB replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
He had very good YPC in Detroit as well. -
This seems for real. It seems like the Bears want to stay in Chicago and there is a willingness to do so. Maybe Arlington Heights was always just that - leverage. Personally I love the idea of them staying in Chicago. But I didn't care if they moved to Arlington Heights either - but staying in downtown is cooler in my opinion.

I think he will just submit the standard medical report - which is all that happens at the combine, so I think this is more just him limiting the info and how widely it is shared.
-
I thought it was interesting the Bears released this on the same day as NFL free agency opened. Seems like a way to hide this in a news release - which I wonder why. Bears are literally offering to help fund (along with private money) a new stadium on the lakefront. Would seem like good PR so why have it come out same time as NFL FA.
-
Yeah - I can't argue keeping personal info more private. Why give it to 32 teams when maybe 3-5 have a chance at getting you.
-
If Caleb had a bunch of injuries during college - sure, the medicals would be critical. The meds aren't holding up the Bears - especially not when you have a couple QB's all out there. I'm not saying they couldn't look at his meds and be thrown off - anything is possible - but that isn't stopping Bears from doing what they do with Field(s). And the whole league knows Field(s) is available. And even if Poles weren't taking calls - that doesn't stop someone from asking. I am sure Washington and other teams have asked about #1 - they have probably gotten a pretty good feel for - oh man, they aren't budging (or if they are - they had an ask for something so unrealistic it basically implies the pick isn't available (something like 5 or 6 FRP's or something absurd).
-
If teams thought Justin was great - they would be bidding all over for his services. Now if we see him go for a 1st rounder - fine, that tells you someone thinks he is a dude. But if he ends up getting a 3rd - yeah - there is no way to chalk that up than teams just thinking he's a mediocre starter worth taking a chance at given his physical tools. Doesn't mean the league is right or wrong - he could use it as extra edge and turn into something, but nothing on film passing wise and progression wise over past 3 years show him getting the ball out faster and more on script. It basically shows him being the same player from year 2 to year 3 and that is a player who flashes greatness off script but is very much not great during the game and who wilts in the 4th quarter.

Bears sign D'Andre Swift (3yr 24M - 15M guaranteed)
DABEARSDABOMB replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I think they just view it as - Herbert is okay - but probably not a starter. Johnson is just entering year 2 and he was okay. He could end up being good, but he could also just be meh. Swift has been low usage and is in his prime and definitely has some game. -

Herbert is gone at end of the year and depth is important. This is a guy with low mileage as a starter and who has been pretty darn good. 3 year deal is perfect and the money is very reasonable. I love this deal and think we are paying for his BEST years which is exactly what you want to do when you sign a RB. I think whomever gets Saquon or Jacobs are paying for past production vs. future production. -
Reports are he is one of their primary focuses (vs. Saquon). I know the name is less sexy but this would be a really good get. He's still young and he's a really good football player. With rookie QB, Bears can afford to splurge a bit at RB (and it saves them from having to use another draft pick on the position in a draft where they don't have a ton of picks).
-
Good move by Steelers but Cousins goes to Atlanta going to be interesting to see where Fields ends up.
-
Baker is nearing a 3yr 100M deal with over 50M guaranteed to stay with Bucs. This is why I love getting Caleb. Fields is totally fine if he was willing to sign a below market deal - but paying mediocre qbs that sort of money is going to mire a franchise in mediocrity.
-
I could dig those numbers - that was great value.
-
I think whomever get Wilson is going to get someone highly motivated to stick it to Sean Payton and Denver.
-
I don’t like Clowneh. He goes everywhere and seems to never do much. He has been all hype. I want a 3 down impact linemen and the Bears have all the space to pay for one.

Has any generational QB prospects ever won a SB?
DABEARSDABOMB replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
In that game - Caleb had 6TDs and 10 incomplete passes. He also completed a pass to 10 different players…talk about reading a d and not just going to one guy. He went 30-40 for 405 yards and 6TDs and they won by a td cause USC defense is awful (Colorados is too in fairness). I watched that game and I was blown away at how smooth Caleb was (happened to be in Chicago eating a deep dish hole watching). Really appreciate the level of review - and I don’t disagree with some of those examples but there was a ton of great in that game. Great reads and great throws. I am a huge Fields fan boy - love him and want nothing more than for him to be a star. I will root for him wherever he plays next cause he is so likable. -
I think both of those guys are signing for 20M plus.
-
Seems like a solid short term vet signing. I am guessing they are going to spend on a dlinemen and want to get a few things checked off so they can focus on first few days in a couple key targets. My guess is either Vikings or Dolphins dlinemen and for some reason I think they add one of Saquon or Jacobs and then probably wait for a vet wideout signing and maybe pick up another guy olineman.
-
Mac going to Jacksonville where he will back up Trevor. Fields at least worth more than this - how much more, I don’t know.
-
That is the floor for me. If they can’t get a 3rd and a conditional 3rd or something next year than Fields value is so bad Bears and Fields should keep him. Fields would have no leverage at that point to be anything other than a great teammate.

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
DABEARSDABOMB replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
He isn’t staying unless his trade market is awful and he actually chooses to stay and compete with Caleb vs going somewhere else he doesn’t want to be. It is obvious - Bears are taking a qb in round 1.
