Hester got a lot of hype after a week but I have continued to say he still needs to become more mature in this league and one of the things he definately has to do is get better at protecting the football. Lets not forget this guy got benched during one game this year for fumblitis.

Have the Bears ever franchised a guy? If we did the only person I could even think of would be Spellman. I know they gave Raymont Harris the transitional tag a number of years ago, but overall the Bears pretty much stay completely away from using this "tags". That said we if we Franchise him and have the cap room this year to do it we can either lock him down, trade him, or just keep him for a year and than let him walk (either way it puts us better prepared). However, I still wonder how we are going to sign guys like Tillman (although he may still have a few more years left since he already has signed one extension...the guy is our best CB by far), Vasher, Tommie Harris (we'll have to find out how he recovers first, imo), and Rexy.

I closed this thread since a ruling has been made. I figure all future discussion can occur there.

Thats awesome. I wonder who will ultimately replace Harris. Ya, I think its a total joke that Romo made it into the pro bowl considering he wasn't even a starter until a good chunk into the season. I think since than Romo has been a probowl caliber QB (although he's had some rough games) but by no means do I think he's deserving of being in the probowl.

It is official, the Chicago Bears have announced they are suspending Tank Johnson for the Lions game for ignoring the message the Bears sent to him following the raid that ultimately led to the death of Johnson's best friend Posey. I originally thought I would be against such a move, but Johnson appears to have shown a lot of remorse and really was an adult of the situation. Angelo/Smith reported how Johnson came to them with a list of life choices that he needs to change and from the sounds of it, it was that type of admittion he made a mistake/remorse that led to the Bears keeping him as opposed to cutting him. In the past Lovie was involved in a choice like this with the Rams Leanord Little and Leanord has turned into one of the better guys in the league. We can only hope that Tank will respond positively to the 2nd chance he gets.

Clark kicked serious butt tonight and Rex did a great job finding him and getting him the ball.

Jackson criticizes fans who sold game tickets to Bears supporters

Ya, it was so cool to hear the Moose chant when he'd make a big play and just all the Bears fans in general. Gosh this has been a fun year so far and I hope the the funnest part doesn't happen till Miami -
Devin has done some amazing things and Anderson has been a tremendous pass rusher. But I don't think either has played enough to warrant being rookies of the year on either side of the ball. The fact of the matter is that Reggie Bush has been a very very key player. He's been huge in the city and on the football field. Colston would be my runner up, but I think the impact Bush brought to the team (his winning attitude and play-making ability) along with the Brees and Payton are the reason this team has really turned around.

I think they'll probably have him not play the next couple of games. I also expect them to sit down with him. I doin't know how many second chances he could get but I'd have no problem if we suspended him for the remainder of the season and than cut him. At the same time I'm hoping (cautiously optimistic) that having his friend and bodyguard getting killed will be the final straw that gets him to clean his life up and start surrounding himself with quality character individuals. I think his actions have been completely unacceptable and I am also very concerned that he initially lied and said he wasn't at the club (when in fact he was at the club where the murder happened). Either way the Bears need to talk to him and figure out what happened and than make there decision from there. Its sad that a guy with this much talent can't figure out by now to clean things up and get anyone away from him that can force him into these type of problems (although everything falls on himself for putting himself in these situations).

Great stuff...welcome aboard Allen. Always good to have another Bear fan over here for what should be a fun end to the regular season and hopefully a real fun post-season
-
I think that will be the plan. Its going to be the Ced show cause there is absolutely no reason to use TJ if he isn't 100%. I also think this will be good because it will allow Ced to get some momentum as we get closer to the post-season. Plus I think we are going to see a steady dose of both for the remainder of the season since the weather will be cold and we'll need to be able to run the ball often and productively at Soldier field in the cold.

We obviously have a lot of depth when it comes to tackles but we also have some question-marks. We don't know what type of DT Dvoraceck can be. He looks like a pretty solid prospect but injuries have prevented him from playing and thats really the best way to evaluate someone. Tommie Harris is an absolute stud but we don't know what type of player he will come back as. Will he lack the same explosion he had before his injury? If he does he surely wouldn't be near as special as a player as he was. And than there is Ian Scott who is due to be a free agent and right now I can't see (with our other question-marks) us just letting him walk. Scott is very good against the run and is going to really need to play well down the stretch and in the playoffs for us to succeed. That said I think we have a dire need to get some young offensive lineman that we can start grooming to take over because i'd hate to see our line get riddled with injuries and us not having guys that could step in and replace them (since it is getting older).

Sorry but as much as I want the Bears to win, If Johnson was in possession of a Leon Lett like quantity of drugs, I want him to rott for it. I already whined and complained about his off-field problems in the past and think the best thing you can do with consistent malcontents thats get into legal problems is cut ties with them. I am waiting to see what actually happened, but I do not feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for the team that relied on him and us fans. He's just a f***ing prick that deserves whatever wrath comes on him for breaking the law (if in fact we find out he had posession of drugs with the intent of distributing it).
-
Ya, apparently they found at least some of the things according to the Tribune. Although they did not get into any specifics. Tank has already had a few problems and this makes me want to unload his ass so fast. I really hope somehow he isn't involved but I'm sure he is and I'm sure he'll suffer because of it and unfortunately a position that is already thin will suffer another loss.

Its Alonzo Spellman all over again.
-
Hope someone that was a diehard was able to pull through and get them.
-
Ya speculation is that it is roids, but considering they just got a search warrant and searched his entire home makes it sound far far worse. Who knows, we may be without both of our starting defensive tackles for the rest of the season. I know Tank had some past issues with the law already and I just hope this isn't as bad as it is sounding right now (as I assume the worse when I hear someone's house is being raided by the police).
-
Most importantly....Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo will both be getting fat contracts this off-season.
-
The contract was something offered a while ago. My hope is that Urlacher is a man of his words and does offer to give in a bit and that we find a way to franchise him and lock him up to a deal that pays him mega bucks (50 mill plus). The guy is that good and I completely agree with Urlacher's sentiments that he's one of the most underrated players in the game. Bears fans keep saying he'd be easily replaced but I think they'd find out that that couldn't be further from the truth.
-
I think now, we need to focus on teaching him and developing him as a corner. He has the speed and quickness to be a premiere CB in this league. The first time he ever played the position relatively full time was his final year at Miami so he is still very raw. Lets let him get his touches on the return game and focus on teaching him how to be a good CB. In time (a year or two) as he gets comfortable we may also than work him in on the offense with potential reverses and the likes. This guy is a primetime athlete (and yes I intentionally used the word "primetime").

Are you ready for some football? Gamethread: Bears @ Rams
DABEARSDABOMB replied to BearSox's topic in Soldier Field
I should say...I am backing this up by purchasing a Grossman jersey. It may be stupid and this may be on my emotions but he's been my favorite Bear since Rosie Colvin (and right now I've never cheered harder for any Bear player ever and that says something). So this is my first jersey purchase since I bought a McNown one (the only other one I own is a Curtis Conway one as he was my favorite Bear when I was a kid). -

I am so so so so so happy that Rexy had a good game. I haven't ever liked and rooted for a Bear player to succeed this much. I was so overjoyed when he had his TD pass to Berrian and than again to Moose. I absolutely love this guy and hope he continues to build upon tonights performance as well as the performances from earlier in the season. Oh and I must say I was very very dissapointed in our defense...it was absolutely horrible and its been getting increasingly worse each and every week as of late. I am hoping this was the start of new things for Rex and at the same time it will be the game where the Bears D realizes they need to go back to the drawing board and clean things up and get back to executing flawlessly. -

Can't wait to get out of work and head home to BBQ and watch the game. DVR is set just in case I have to work a little longer tonight.
