  1. I personally wouldn't be surprised if JA wants to get rid of Lovie. It seems as if there's been a disconnect between the two. They have stated different stories about the QB situation, and I believe JA feels he's paid a lot on D for Lovie's guys, and they have not produced. I think JA's line of thought is that if the Bears and Lovie do good and make it to playoffs, great, but if they have another subpar season, it gives JA more reason to find a new HC. Also, there will be some really good options for next year, most notably Cower, Shanny and Gruden.
  2. I believe I called this a whiles back Great news!
  3. YES YES YES!!! I'd throw in a 4th as well if all it took was a mid-round 1st. Also, another thing I would do is trade up back into the first and get Eben Britton. It would leave us with basically no more draft picks, but I feel getting two players like Boldin and Britton would be well worth it. You'd be talking about 2, hopefully, long term answers at no. 1 WR and RT. Plus, Boldin would make a great combo with Hester. And lord knows we have the cap room to give Boldin the money he wants.
  4. It'll be sweet if we get a 6th for Ayanbadejo. IIRC, he made the pro-bowl again... that's gotta count for something.
  5. We'd need to give up more than that if we want to move up that high. I like the idea though and had one very similar. I don't want to let go of the our 3rd rounder this year, but if we package 49, our 6th rounder, and a 3rd rounder next year, we might be able to move up to 34. Also, the Pats are very active in trading picks and this could make sense for them, considering they have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds (3 in round 2) and might be willing to move down to gain an extra pick for next year. My ideal mock, using the trade above, would be: 1-18) RT Eben Britton, Arizona -If Michael Oher or Andre Smith is here, they're the obvious choice, but I see tackles going on a run similar to last year. I really like Britton however, and I would consider him the most ready to come in and make an impact right away, even though he doesn't have the same upside of Oher or Smith 2-34) WR Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina -He's been falling a bit due to a less than impressive pro day, but he is still a very solid prospect and one that we really like. He would form a great duo with Hester. However, if Kenny Britt is here, I'd take him. 3-84) QB/WR Pat White, West Virginia -Surprise, surprise. While a lot of you might say... what? I think this makes perfect sense. We need a 3rd QB, and White has really impressed as a QB this offseason. However, his value will come with his ability to play WR and being the perfect QB for the Wildcat Offense. We know Ron Turner has had his version of the Wildcat drawn up for a while, but I believe the reason we hardly ever saw it was because he didn't trust anyone to take the snap. White can read the D and make the right choice, while also being a threat to pass. He can be a very valueably weapon for the O. 3-CP) S David Bruton, Notre Dame -Seems like a typical JA type of guy. Can play both FS and SS, is a leader on the field, and can contribute on special teams right away. JA doesn't seem like he is ready to go out and get a front line S yet, but Bruton is a good player to have for depth. 4-115) LB Jason Williams, Western Illinois -Another JA type of guy. Williams is a local product who really impressed at his pro day. He is a phenominal athlete, and not only potentially be an option at SAM, but be able to play all 3 LB spots. Also, he should be a great special teams guy with his size and speed. Oh yeah, did I mention he is a master at stripping the ball, forcing something 20+ fumbles in his college career. 5-146) FB Quinn Johnson, LSU -We need another FB and someone like Johnson is similar to Runnells who we draft a few years ago, but better. He is a hell of a blocker, and can pround the ball as well as do some receiving. However, this could signal the end for AP, who I like, but isn't really neccessary to keep around anymore. All 3 7th Rounders) BPA
  6. Getting Osgood wouldn't be for the WR corps, it'd be for Special Teams. Our special teams was very mediocre last year and we need some upgrades.
  7. I'd gladly send a 5th or a 6th to San Diego for him.
  8. Because he ain't that good. He's decent but nothing spectacular.
  9. I really like Britton in round 1 right now if Oher or Smith don't fall to us. We need a RT, and any of those 4 options would be good ones.
  10. This isn't really that big of a deal. We aren't going to go through all of minicamp with Balogh (sp???) as the starting RT. We're moving Omiyale to RT to get a better look from the OLine, and we'll adjust after the draft. THIS IS ONLY MINICAMP! Nothing is set into stone.
  11. Even though I hope it doesn't happen, I'm glad. The players union is getting way too much power and they shouldn't be the ones making the rules. Look at what the players union in baseball, it's ridiculous how much power they have over drug testing, contracts, etc.
  12. don't forget, none of these position changes are set in stone. Idonije will likely stick at DE but Bowman could very well be moved back to CB at OTA's. It's ridiculous to complain about these moves. How can anyone complain about playing Omiyale at LG? No one has ever seen him play, and quite frankly, a OT in a ZBS is likely a better fit inside for most other schemes. If we should complain about anything concerning Omiyale, it should be that we signed a guy who has started a total of 1 game in his career to a 4 year 16 million dollar deal (or something like that). Bowman never got to develop at any position because he was always injured. He barely developed at all as a CB, and quite frankly, there isn't much of a shot for him to succeed at CB with all the depth ahead of him. Right now, moving him to FS will give us another option if he shows he can play it at all. THIS IS MINICAMP! This isn't the end all be all. And also, we didn't decide not to put Peanut at FS because of injuries but rather because it'd be insanely idiotic to move our best CB to FS.
  13. St. Clair is a decent player, but I don't mind this at all. The guy is a decent stop gap who's main role on a team will be backup swing tackle. He's a solid player for depth, but I wouldn't want to give him 9 million. Now hopefully Oher or Smith will fall to us, but if not, I'd settle for Britton.
  14. Omiyale is a best fit at G in our blocking scheme. Bowman is moved to FS because we wanted him to get some work in, and CB seems pretty crowded with Peanut, Vasher, McBride, Graham, and Manning. Idonije should have stayed at DE. I really have no idea what you're complaining about. You acting as if we just moved Tommie Harris to OG or something.
  15. I'll pass. We don't need an underachieving drug addict on this team.
  16. I don't see us signing him, but I'd love it for a vet presence who can be a solid receiver for at least the next 3 years.
  17. Jason Peters was one of the worst LT's in the league last year, and a huge part of why could have been the hold out, but still.
  18. I'd gladly send our 1st and 3rd over to Arizona for Boldin and the money that comes along with him. However, I doubt it. I personally think JA wants Lovie to fail and move on in a different direction, and that doesn't involve making any huge splashes. I think what we are doing this offseason is for the future.
  19. I've been saying it for a while we should go after Weaver, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in our part. I'd love to sign Weaver, cut McKie (and Davis), and maybe draft Quinn Johnson in the 5th, if he's there (if we draft Johnson, cut Peterson).
  20. I think there's no way Berrian and Turner don't get the teams 3rd round comp. This guy does play it safe though usually in his predictions. He's usually dead on from the 5th round on.
  21. Barnes sucks ass... I'm still trying to figure out why people want us to waste money on him.
  22. Maybe we are planning on making a move for Sanchez in the draft? Hopefully not Freeman though.
  23. Pace's play was probably in the top 5 of all of the LT's last year, he's still got some juice left in the tank.
  24. Pass, it'd be a waste of money. Garcia can only play in the WCO, especially at this point in his career. I really wouldn't like him as a backup either. There'd be virtually no upside with a move like this. At least with someone like Leftwich there is some upside with signing him.
