    Caleb Hanie

Ahh. This is a good microcosm of Rex's treatment by everyone. Shrink down everything he does, and play up everything his competition does. Play up his weaknesses, play down his strengths. Write off his high moments as luck, and talk up his down ones as "train-Rex". I'll just keep it short and get to the point. Rex is 6'1" even. Caleb is 6' 1-7/8", which if I'm not mistaken, is less than an inch taller.
  2. Oh yeah, Hub Arkush is probably the second to last guy who's opinion I want to hear about the Bears. He's a total lamebrain.
  3. Like who? Albert who has played all of 2 games at LT? Otah, who is about as raw as can be despite his enormous potential (and size), and to me looks a lot like an RT? Cherilus who is an RT? I like Chris more than any of them quite frankly. We NEEDED a ready LT, not a potential one, or an RT. We needed one who could come in on day one and start, and whether he got picked a couple of spots high is completely irrelevant because that is where he went, and he has that kind of physical talent, experience, and "proven factor" to warrant his selection. It wasn't just a "safe pick", it was the smart pick, and a safe pick with a lot of upside. How can one argue against it? Forte wouldn't have been there in the third, and if we liked him enough, why gamble on trading down when we can just get him there? We already had a ton of picks, so getting our guy was important. Not a huge fan of the Bennet selection, but as far as guys who I saw as "high floors" at WR, he was at the top of that list IMHO. Might not be a huge threat, but I could very easily see him as a go-to possession receiver who becomes his QB's favorite target, hauling in a ton of passes. He just does everything the right way, is smart, and doesn't drop passes. I keep hearing Hines Ward attached to his name, but I see a lot of Jericho Cotchery and even a bit of Reggie Wayne in him.
  4. Straight from the horses mouth... LINKY This totally sounds like some team with a hidden agenda slipped this out to a source knowing guys like Mayock would eat it up. With all the physicals and exams these guys go through, there is no way he could honestly say I have no neck injury, and Chris Williams is very much a stand-up guy with great character, so I absolutely believe him over word that happened to come out a few days before the draft.
  5. It will be Garza, without anything close to what I would call competition too. Of course you want to bring in guys to challenge our older roster guys, but like I said in the other thread, even though I'm no Garza fan, the guy has been solid. He is one of those league average vets every team needs on their line, and he was probably the most solid guy on our crap line all last season (kind of sad, but there are a lot of factors that made it so; crap to the left of Olin forcing him to play two positions at once, and the same for Tait at LT watching his right side). He comes cheap, plays a sound game positionally, won't be a weak link, and has the chemistry with Olin and Tait. The only competition for a starters role along the line will be at LG. I would love to see us give Beekman first crack at it, and every opportunity to prove himself, but my gut tells me Lovie plays it "safe" and hands the role to St.Clair in a ruse of a competition. John was actually pretty darn solid those last three games for us though, and it showed as the line as a whole coincidentally also played a lot better (only three sacks given up in that stretch including a shutout of GB's rushers, compared to 11 given up in the three games prior). It would be rather worrisome having to virtual rookies starting on the left side for us if Josh does win the job. However, Garza did play LG his entire career before coming to Chicago, so I wonder if they would consider shifting him back so Beekman could relax in the more familiar RG role with the added comfort of playing between two very good vets.
  6. Yeah, he is basically a UT athletically, with NT size and strength. That is the perfect fit for the C2 NT role, just like Tank.
  7. hahaha. Okay, impact THIS season, not four years down the road. You figured when you slobber all over the guy and make statements like this, you would at least know how to spell his name too.
  8. Williams isn't the sexy pick, but IMO, he easily has the best chance to make the biggest impact on our team. If Forte or whomever runs for us is going to be successful, it is going to be because of the impact from the guys up front. If Rex or Kyle are going to have a big season, it is because the guys up front are giving them time to throw. Like i said, it's not sexy, but the impact that Chris has by taking over the LT spot is just huge for us. It allows Tait to move to RT, which is automatically a HUGE upgrade, and though I'm not a fan of Garza, he is very much a solid/league average RG, so that makes our right side from Tait to Olin a very solid veteran group. Though he may struggle with the run, it is always preferable to have a young LT who excels in pass pro like him.
  9. Caution, you are entering an overreaction zone ahead, watch your step, and be cautious of flying poo.
  10. That and the torn ACL are worrisome. He rushed back from the knee injury, and still ran 5 flat this post-season at 6-3 317 after going through the grind and rehab, and that says a ton about his athleticism. and is obviously a first rounder talent-wise shown by how highly he was still thought of even after the E and weed arrest combined with the injury.
  11. So Harrison over Moore? Bullshivism.
  12. But size on the outside is just really improtant to helping out a struggling QB. GB pretty much recognized that by grabbing Nelson, who BTW is the man.
  13. Yeah, I think the Skins got him in the second.
  14. What do you want me to say? It's true.
  15. Booker and Lloyd aren't big though, they weren't supposed to be our "big" guys, just possession guys. Both are 6', and Lloyd isn't even big weight-wise. We needed to get bigger height-wise.
  16. He actually runs pretty precise routes, and is surprisingly quick. His 10 yard dash of 1.47 was no surprise to me, because he is just a quick twitch guy, who breaks verr well in-and-out.
  17. Would have preferred a bigger/faster wide receiver, but Earl is a damn fine prospect even if he doesn't address our need for size at the receiver corps(5'11-1/2).
  18. That he does. Only he is built like a tank.
  19. Preview. "Oh, JA, how I bemoan thee. Let me count the ways. You had a chance at the next great running back, and a sure-fire franchise QB, and you took two safe picks because you're delusions made led you to believe you are still a contender." Signed #1 A-hole Jay Ferriotti.
  20. I'd say that opinion is wrong. Another ten pounds is a lot to put on that frame and expect the same sort of agility and quickness, especially when his athleticism is already the one real knock on him from scouts. Not all Safeties need to, or are built to be 215 pounds. Look at Mike Brown for example, 5-10 207.
  21. Nope. Check it out anywhere with a Cinci Pro Day report, he weighed in at 203.
  22. He was at 5' 10-1/2" 203 at his pro day, while still running in the low-mid 4.5's. I'd say that weight fits him very well.
  23. Franklin's my guy, and even I don't see him before round 4.
