  1. Here is my list minus Sapp (who actually played in one NFL game in his career w/ MIN): 1a. Pat Riley, 1995, 2nd round, #52, 1 game played 1b. Dan Bazuin, 2007, 2nd round, #62, 0 games played 1c. Brandon Hardin, 2012, 3rd round #79, 0 games played (tied with Sapp) Honorable Mention: 1. Jarron Gilbert, 2009, 3rd round #68, 5 games played 2. Michael Okwo, 2007, 3rd round, #94, 0 games played 3. Juaquin Iglesias, 2009, 3rd round #99, 1 game played 2007 and 2009 were brutal drafts. Can't miss on that many in the first 3 rounds. Bazuin, Wolfe, Okwo all drafted before pick #94.
  2. I think this is his last shot, he hasn't had the luxury of having the same coach for his entire career like Eli, yet his stats aren't that much different. Once he got to the Bears, we had a great defense and he was passing to Hester and Bennett, then Knox and Bennett, then Knox and Williams in his first 3 years. We got Marshall, but then the defense tanked to 30th under Trestman and now we are here. We should have an improved defense better than last two years and weapons for him to throw to. If he can't win in these conditions, he never will.
  3. How about the Pats have to play with an over-inflated ball for 4 games?
  4. Cracker, I agree, if Brady was just saying "hey, I really like the footballs a little softer" and the staff deflates the balls, then that's on the staff. However, since he technically paid them to do it, then that crosses the line. To me that is enough to warrant a couple of games. I am sure with an appeal it will be reduced to 2 games. For the team, members of their organization artificially manipulated the game in an attempt to gain an advantage. I think a 1st round pick is a pretty fair penalty (since it is not their first offense).

    Khaseem Greene cut

He was way down on the depth chart after the the switch to 3-4. I expect a few more of these as we get down to 53.
  6. Even if Cutler stays, I still think you look at QB early. Next years draft is going to be deep for QB, so I would take advantage of the market. I would also look at OL, DL, and LB.
  7. McDonald-Goldman-Ferguson front 3, rotated in with Sutton-Ratliff-Jenkins seems pretty good to me.
  8. He seemed to be used as a 6th OLinemen as well (in lieu of TE) with some success. Cornick is also familiar with Gase's system (like Montgomery), so hopefully they can speed up the learning process for the rest of the line. Also, the familiarity might give him the initial edge over Mills because Mills was bad enough knowing the system last year.
  9. KC had something like 6 Pro Bowlers (4 on defense) and were 2-14 back in 2012, so Pro Bowl selectees don't necessarily equate to a winning team. I am not worried about Pro Bowl selections as much as effectiveness. A hurry or knockdown might not be a sack, but it is almost equally effective.
  10. Paul Cornick waived by Broncos - come on down http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...e-paul-cornick/
  11. lol I thought the same thing, but it is similar to other vets skipping the voluntary workouts (which has become standard practice).
  12. We will have to wait for the numbers, I thought the same thing, I think he got his numbers crossed. Probably more like $7M spent and $3.5M left.
  13. Jim Miller said on Sirius that some vets like to wait a little longer to sign so they don't have to do all the offseason stuff.
  14. $7mil is some nice space post draft. We still have some room to make a couple of moves after June 1st cuts.
  15. I know it is Bleacher Report, but some knucklehead has us at 29th in their post draft Power Rankings. We finished the season 26th (and lost a string at the end that seemed winnable), so I don't think we were as bad as our record indicated. Now you add a new coaching staff and I would say that bumps us up a slot or two, then take all the micro-upgrades in free agency, and we are up a few more. Then add the impact draft picks and I would say we are in the high teens or very low 20's.

    Best draft

The Bengals had 9 picks and drafted back to back OT's (and the first one has a torn ACL). They also drafted 2x TE's and have Eifert. For me, that pushes their draft down a rung. I liked the Fisher, Dawson, Shaw, Hardison, and Smith picks though. I would say a solid B+.

    Leonard Williams

It basically comes down to Williams+DGB/Funchess or Goldman+White, or a completely different draft order. Williams will more than likely have more impact than Goldman, but White will more than likely have more impact than any WR drafted in the 2nd, so it may end up as a wash. You also have to wonder why the Jags, Raiders, and Skins all passed on him. The Jags picked Fowler over Williams, the Raiders picked a WR over Williams, and Skins an OLinemen over him. So it seemed like the Jets just picked him because the value was perceived to be too high to pass up. Obviously he was not getting past us because he would've filled a need.
  18. I think it was in regards to Foster playing again in a scheme that better fits his skill set.
  19. He could've easily went in the late 2nd and would've been gone before we picked in the 4th, 4 Offensive Linemen went between our 3rd and 4th pick. He was the 16th Offensive Linemen drafted and 3rd Center. He was easily a top 10 OLine prospect and at least the 2nd best Center.
  20. Yeah, I was sort of projecting the 53-man, hard to see those guys making it over the current roster.
  21. With the draft and most UDFA's signed, using our pre-draft depth chart, I tried to figure out who makes the cut at 53. The biggest battles are at LB and CB, and who plays what on the DLINE. Nevertheless, it should be interesting. For simplicity sake, I plugged some guys in for only one position even though they can play multiple. Looking at this you can see why we did not draft a LB. Also, it looks like the low end of the roster turnover would be 33% and can get as high as 45% depending on which 53-man roster guys stick (I see about 6 at risk) and 18 new slots already filled. What do you think, look about right? OFFENSE (24): QB (2): Jay Cutler* / Jimmy Clausen* RB (4): Matt Forte* / Jeremy Langford / Jacquizz Rodgers / Ka'Deem Carey* or Senorise Perry WR (6): WR: Alshon Jeffery* / Josh Bellamy or John Chiles WR: Eddie Royal / Marc Mariani - KR/PR WR: Kevin White / Marquess Wilson* TE (3): Martellus Bennett* / Dante Rosario* / Zach Miller or Bear Pascoe/Blake Annen OLINE (9): OLT: Jermon Bushrod* / Ryan Groy or Charles Leno Jr.* OLG: Matt Slauson* / Michael Ola* C: Will Montgomery / Hroniss Grasu ORG: Kyle Long* ORT: Jordan Mills* / Vladimir Ducasse or Tayo Fabuluje DEFENSE (26): Front 7 total (16) once they figure out where everyone plays. DLINE (7): LDT: Jeremiah Ratliff* / Jarvis Jenkins NT: Eddie Goldman / Will Sutton* RDT: Ray McDonald / Ego Ferguson* / Lamarr Houston* LB (9): OLB: Willie Young* / Jared Allen* / David Bass* or Brandon Dunn/ ILB: Mason Foster / Shea McClellin* ILB: Jon Bostic* / Christian Jones* OLB: Pernell McPhee / Sam Acho / Cornelius Washington* or DeDe Lattimore CB (6): CB: Tim Jennings* / Alan Ball* / Al Louis-Jean CB: Kyle Fuller* / Sherrick McManis* / Demontre Hurst* or Jacoby Glenn/Terrance Mitchell S (4): FS: Antrel Rolle / Brock Vereen* or Anthony Jefferson SS: Ryan Mundy* / Adrian Amos ST (3): K: Robbie Gould* P: Pat O'Donnell* LS: Thomas Gafford *on 53-man in 2014 (35)
  22. Well in an indirect way it does, GB doesn't get any better and with basically zero FA activity, I think they have actually taken a step back. Detroit lost Suh and some other pieces and are definitely worse this year compared to last. Minnesota acquired Mike Wallace and had a decent draft, so they should be better this year. However, based on our coaching changes (scheme changes), front office, free agent acquisitions, and now draft, we clearly have had the best offseason. To me you have to win 365 days a year, not just during the season. If you don't have a good offseason, that can easily translate to the regular season.
