  1. Well they went with the kick at 15 and live ball for 2 pt conversion. It is gonna suck for teams to make a game tying drive only to have the Kicker miss the 33 yard XP and lose by one. Kickers just became a lot more important.
  2. Yeah, 7 pts for a TD, unless you elect for 2 where a successful try gives you 8 and a failed try gives you 6. Basically the 2pt conversion really becomes +1 or -1. There were only 8 missed XPA in 2014 out of 1230 kicks. So less than one percent of the kicks potentially had an impact on the score and game. Why not just award the point, and speed up the game?
  3. Yeah that was pretty bad. Enis over Moss is basically inexcusable.
  4. It looks like there have been two rule changes over the past 20 years, one in 1999 that introduced the kicking balls, then in 2006, they allowed the visiting team to bring in their own set of footballs. I find it funny that you could basically do anything to the ball prior to 1999 and it was ok. Here is a blurb from Brady: http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2006-11-2...ition-committee
  5. Interesting thing for Romo is that he has had Jason Garrett as either his OC or HC and Jason Witten both since 2007. He has also had a least Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, or TO to compliment Witten every season. He has been in a very comfortable situation.
  6. Great moves, really impressed with Pace so far. I like when we pull from winning organizations.
  7. Here is my list minus Sapp (who actually played in one NFL game in his career w/ MIN): 1a. Pat Riley, 1995, 2nd round, #52, 1 game played 1b. Dan Bazuin, 2007, 2nd round, #62, 0 games played 1c. Brandon Hardin, 2012, 3rd round #79, 0 games played (tied with Sapp) Honorable Mention: 1. Jarron Gilbert, 2009, 3rd round #68, 5 games played 2. Michael Okwo, 2007, 3rd round, #94, 0 games played 3. Juaquin Iglesias, 2009, 3rd round #99, 1 game played 2007 and 2009 were brutal drafts. Can't miss on that many in the first 3 rounds. Bazuin, Wolfe, Okwo all drafted before pick #94.
  8. I think this is his last shot, he hasn't had the luxury of having the same coach for his entire career like Eli, yet his stats aren't that much different. Once he got to the Bears, we had a great defense and he was passing to Hester and Bennett, then Knox and Bennett, then Knox and Williams in his first 3 years. We got Marshall, but then the defense tanked to 30th under Trestman and now we are here. We should have an improved defense better than last two years and weapons for him to throw to. If he can't win in these conditions, he never will.
  9. How about the Pats have to play with an over-inflated ball for 4 games?
  10. Cracker, I agree, if Brady was just saying "hey, I really like the footballs a little softer" and the staff deflates the balls, then that's on the staff. However, since he technically paid them to do it, then that crosses the line. To me that is enough to warrant a couple of games. I am sure with an appeal it will be reduced to 2 games. For the team, members of their organization artificially manipulated the game in an attempt to gain an advantage. I think a 1st round pick is a pretty fair penalty (since it is not their first offense).

    Khaseem Greene cut

He was way down on the depth chart after the the switch to 3-4. I expect a few more of these as we get down to 53.
  12. Even if Cutler stays, I still think you look at QB early. Next years draft is going to be deep for QB, so I would take advantage of the market. I would also look at OL, DL, and LB.
  13. McDonald-Goldman-Ferguson front 3, rotated in with Sutton-Ratliff-Jenkins seems pretty good to me.
  14. He seemed to be used as a 6th OLinemen as well (in lieu of TE) with some success. Cornick is also familiar with Gase's system (like Montgomery), so hopefully they can speed up the learning process for the rest of the line. Also, the familiarity might give him the initial edge over Mills because Mills was bad enough knowing the system last year.
  15. KC had something like 6 Pro Bowlers (4 on defense) and were 2-14 back in 2012, so Pro Bowl selectees don't necessarily equate to a winning team. I am not worried about Pro Bowl selections as much as effectiveness. A hurry or knockdown might not be a sack, but it is almost equally effective.
  16. Paul Cornick waived by Broncos - come on down http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...e-paul-cornick/
  17. lol I thought the same thing, but it is similar to other vets skipping the voluntary workouts (which has become standard practice).
  18. We will have to wait for the numbers, I thought the same thing, I think he got his numbers crossed. Probably more like $7M spent and $3.5M left.
  19. Jim Miller said on Sirius that some vets like to wait a little longer to sign so they don't have to do all the offseason stuff.
  20. $7mil is some nice space post draft. We still have some room to make a couple of moves after June 1st cuts.
  21. I know it is Bleacher Report, but some knucklehead has us at 29th in their post draft Power Rankings. We finished the season 26th (and lost a string at the end that seemed winnable), so I don't think we were as bad as our record indicated. Now you add a new coaching staff and I would say that bumps us up a slot or two, then take all the micro-upgrades in free agency, and we are up a few more. Then add the impact draft picks and I would say we are in the high teens or very low 20's.

    Best draft

The Bengals had 9 picks and drafted back to back OT's (and the first one has a torn ACL). They also drafted 2x TE's and have Eifert. For me, that pushes their draft down a rung. I liked the Fisher, Dawson, Shaw, Hardison, and Smith picks though. I would say a solid B+.

    Leonard Williams

It basically comes down to Williams+DGB/Funchess or Goldman+White, or a completely different draft order. Williams will more than likely have more impact than Goldman, but White will more than likely have more impact than any WR drafted in the 2nd, so it may end up as a wash. You also have to wonder why the Jags, Raiders, and Skins all passed on him. The Jags picked Fowler over Williams, the Raiders picked a WR over Williams, and Skins an OLinemen over him. So it seemed like the Jets just picked him because the value was perceived to be too high to pass up. Obviously he was not getting past us because he would've filled a need.
  24. I think it was in regards to Foster playing again in a scheme that better fits his skill set.
