I love this move. Edwards has played above his current deal, now locked up for 3 more years. The 2026 Defense has Sweat, Odeyingbo, Jarrett, Dexter, Edmunds, Edwards, Gordon, Johnson, and Stevenson. Safety is the only position without a starter signed thru at least 2026. Edmunds probably a cap casualty, but that is a ton of continuity on the defensive side of the ball. Safety may be a higher priority with Brisker's health and Byard's age. The entire starting offense is also signed thru 2026 besides Thuney and the LT. So right now 9 of 11 on offense and defense signed thru 2026.

I don't know what is worse, Henderson at 10 or Hunter at 7? Both are soooo bad.

This would be nice, especially with Ratledge or equivalent in the 3rd. Addresses trenches and adds playmakers. One thing that I have considered when looking at the roster, I doubt they add a TE and a WR in the first 4 picks. I think it will be one or the other, or neither.

Slightly off topic, but no matter which Mock Draft Simulator I use, it seems like the Bears can come away with 4x Day One starters and another 1-2 contributors (backup Safety, LB, etc).

I was going off of the guys they had in for the top 30 visits. They all seemed to be at worst late 2nd rounders.

Ben Johnson was not that high on Swift in DET, so I think RB may be a bigger priority than we now. I could be totally wrong there too. Depending on how the draft plays out, there may be a solid RB available in the 3rd. One other wild card is Milroe. If somehow Milroe or Dart go in the 1st, or both, that would slide 1-2 positional players down for the Bears early 2nd rounders.

They will definitely be taking an RB in the first 3 picks.

It will be interesting to see if Ben Johnson or Dennis Allen gets their guy at 10. It feels like Johnson, being the new HC is going to want to stack the deck on offense.

Another wild card is Dennis Allen, how much influence will he have on using the #10 pick on a defensive player?

Another thing I like about the signing, it goes thru Caleb's 5th year option year. So technically the entire extension is on a rookie QBs deal window. They can assess his value again with the new cap availability in 2027-2028 after the Bears have won a Super Bowl. I would like to lock down Edwards at LB too, they need continuity at all levels.

We are 10 days away from the 2025 NFL Draft! Give me your top 3 players that YOU believe will be selected by the Bears if they stay at #10. I am going with Warren - TE (people have comped him to McBride, matchup problem, used like a WR3) Banks - OT (replaces Jones at LT Day 1) Grant - DT (If Dexter slides outside sometimes, DT is a bigger hole and needs to get younger quickly with Billings and Jarrett.) After doing what feels like a million different mock drafts, and looking at the needs of the teams in front of the Bears, it feels like Ward and Sanders will go in the top 9. Hunter, Carter, and Graham are the 3 positional players that I am most sure of that won't be available at 10. I don't think Campbell, Jeanty, or McMillan fall either, but they are the possibles. That leaves Warren, Banks, and Membou from the consensus boards. Sanders again is the key. I think it goes Ward, Hunter, Sanders, Carter, Graham as the top 5. Then Jeanty - LV has huge hole at RB, Campbell - NYJ to protect Fields, McMillan - CAR needs a WR. That leaves NO. If Sanders is gone, they could actually pick Dart here, or go BPA, which is probably Barron. If NYG doesn't pick Sanders, I think NO takes him, making the top 9 unchanged, just scrambled.

Based on that list, OL and WR seem like the 2nd round targets.

Great signing, might seem like a lot on the surface, but all while Caleb is on a rookie deal, and that position is slowly becoming one of the most important and versatile on the defense.

and it might trigger another team to try and move up ahead of the Saints to get Sanders. So even if NO doesn't take him, at least 2 QBs should go in the top 9 now. With Dart being a potential 3rd QB to go if someone jumps NO. This seems to rule out the Bears moving back though, because there would be no reason to jump to 10 for a QB if the next team to potentially take one would be PIT at 21. You could easily jump to the 17-20 range and grab one before them instead of going all the way up to 10.

Green in the 2nd and Arroyo in the 3rd would be crazy.

Dane Brugler, who publishes "The Beast" Draft Guide every year has Banks listed as OG2 after Tyler Booker. Even though he played OT, Brugler projects him as a Guard. I thought that was interesting.

If they pick Banks, I would not be surprised or disappointed, they know better than me (most of the time ). I guess it comes down to position premium vs BPA. I believe Poles even hinted at how they may draft in the Hoge & Jahns podcast. I don't know if anyone else listened to it, but he alluded to the fact that they sort of "look ahead" and war game out the scenarios and combination of picks. So they don't pick a position that they can take later with little drop off in performance.

6'6" is tall for a Dennis Allen DT. They might slide him outside on non-passing downs? His get off has always been an issue, he is not very twitchy or bendy to be a true pass rush Edge.

For me, OL at 10 will depend on who is there. I think Will Campbell is probably selected over Jeanty, Warren, and every Edge player after Carter. However, if Cambell is gone, then I think they would take Jeanty or Warren over Banks/Simmons/Membou. Now if Campbell, Jeanty, and Warren are gone, then Banks seems to be a Poles type of pick. So in summary, my belief is: Campbell, then Jeanty/Warren, then Banks. The wild card for me is Dennis Allen, will he have enough influence on Poles/Johnson to get "his" guy at #10 (Edge or DT).
