What did Fowler run? He's been my guy.

Poll for #7 Pick
Admittedly I'm not much of a college sports fan, so I don't watch a lot of these guys play every Saturday. From what I've read about Fowler, a lot of his negatives are coachable. He has the skill set to be a force. I trust these Bears coaches now for the first time in a long time, especially Fangio. If he likes Fowler, I'm all for it. The real target should be Gregory IMO, but he is probably long gone before #7.

Poll for #7 Pick
I like Fowler because he's big and athletic compared to Ray, who's smaller and more compact. I like arm length and Fowler certainly has that.

With new coaching staff in Place, Briggs wants back
No way. Lance checked out midway through last season, if not all of it. Plus he's old, slow, and often injured these days, on top of also not being that great at football anymore.

Been away on vacation got a question
Fangio runs a hybrid scheme, but a base 3-4. I suspect that will remain here. I don't know why it wouldn't. He's a Dom Capers disciple.

Is Marshall on the way out?
Spiegs acted like he wanted to come to blows with Bernstein yesterday talking about Marshall. It was weird. He called Dan out and said the way he treated him and Mannelly was unprofessional and it pissed him off to the point where he said his report was complete BS. Dan continued to be his douchey self and said he was sticking by his report (even though he clearly back tracked) and that he was not going to change the way he treats people. For more context about what caused this, Bernstein went on the other day during transition and joined in the conversation about Marshall. Dan reiterated that the Marshall decision had already been made. He's out. Pat couldn't believe it. He said that when he was there, Marshall wasn't bad in the lockeroom. When Matt and Pat even entertained the idea that Marshall could be back and that they would want him back, Bernstein quipped, "Agree with me and you'll look smart", That didn't sit well with either of them, and Matt went on yesterday's show to call out Bernstein for the back tracking and the arrogant, condescending attitude with which he treats people. Of course Bernstein didn't back off. He handled the situation well from an emotional stand point, but never once said he was sorry or any of that. Just business as usual. I've listened to the show pretty consistently for about 4-5 years now. I've never seen it get to that point before.

Donatel Officially Hired as DB Coach
Finally being run like a professional NFL team.

Gase is OC
I hope he doesn't leave after a year, assuming the offense is worth a crap. That's my only concern. Could be why Fox was hesitant at first.

Gase coming to visit his buddy Fox
Bye Bye Marshall

Dan Durkin / Brad Biggs Indicate Ratfliff Might be Gone
Ratliff looked like a killer but talked like a gentle giant. I guess I shouldn't be surprised if he was in the middle of some altercation, but I kind of am.

Gase coming to visit his buddy Fox
Hard to see how he would need to interview given he's been on Fox's staff the past 4 years. He's got to be getting the job. After Shanahan, there really aren't any other candidates out there that excited me. Would have been nice to see Fox reach out to a college guy, possibly from Oregon and go that route.

FANGIO JOINS STAFF
I am more excited about this hire than John Fox.

Remember this name...Dashon Goldson
Is this the guy that always gets fined for illegal hits as often as Brandon Merriwether?
-
Rumors of Charlie Weis being spotted at Halas Hall
This guy is one of the most disliked coaches in sports. Hard to imagine him having another job in the NFL as an OC. He never lasts more than a year. Only person that kept him under control was Belichick.

Bears request an interview with Vic Fangio DC of the 49ers
The Bears might not win a bidding war with Snyder for Fangio, but if job security is an emphasis, then he can't take the Washington job. There is a more than good chance Jay Gruden gets fired next year so he could be looking for another job 12 months from now.

John Fox's Introductory Press Conference
I am a little concerned with what the coordinators are going to be. John Fox was suppose to be able to bring in the best guys for the job yet Vic Fangio (the most qualified DC candidate) looks to be going to WAS while Kyle Shanahan ended up in ATL somehow to work with a first time HC. Not encouraging.

Jeff Rodgers hired as Special Teams Coach
Well he has to be better than Joe D. You can't get much worse than him.
-
Jim Bob Cooter
We're running out of options at OC. This is not good. Fox should have hired Shanahan the day he was hired..
-
Shanahan to Falcons as OC
What is John Fox doing?? We're going to be left with nothing if Gase goes elsewhere, and I'm not even excited about him..

who does Fox bring with him?
It's almost universal now from every Chicago beat writer I've seen that believes he's gone. Where there is smoke... I didn't believe it at first, but more people have begun jumping on that bandwagon lately, it almost seems inevitable. He's not a very well liked guy in that locker-room, and the biggest ally he had I'm sure isn't too thrilled with him either after he got thrown under the bus.

What did we get from Seattle for Cutler ?
I hate both teams but I still felt kind of angry the Packers blew that game. They played like the better team the entire game except for one bad play on the onside kick. Actually two if you count the mind boggling Clinton-Dix play where he just let the ball hang forever instead of getting in front of the receiver to knock it down.. A lot had to go right for Seattle to win that game. Somehow they pulled through.

who does Fox bring with him?
Momentum has been gaining on Marshall being cut or traded from the Bears for quite some time now, I'd be shocked if he were here next year. The Bears aren't winning anything next year anyways, so it makes little sense to keep him around in a rebuilding year and having to deal with all the extra crap that comes with him. I don't think hiring Fox changes the fact that the Bears are thinking long term with this thing. He's been in this situation twice before. He knows how to turn around teams fast. I'm sure that played a huge role in him getting the job in the first place, knowing that it could be a rough year 1.
-
who does Fox bring with him?
I'd take DT once the Bears inevitably get rid of Brandon Marshall, but unfortunately they are in no position to get into a bidding war for any high priced free agent's services. The Bears would be best served taking the approach of the Packers and other great teams that value keeping their own younger guys as opposed to being players in the free agent market every year like the Bears have been. And it's all because of bad drafting.

with John Fox as HC - Mock Draft 1.0
I would be surprised if the Bears didn't take a DE or LB in the 1st. Fox's first two drafts in his first year with the Panthers and Broncos were Julius Peppers and Von Miller... Pretty good. Fox is known for having a big D-Line and physical man to man corners. He has ran a 2 gap 4-3 scheme like a Greg Blatche. In Denver he went with multiple front looks to take advantage of Von Miller's unique skill set.

Mularkey requested for interview
For some reason, I confused Mike Munchek (sp?) with Mike Mularkey. I feel a little better now, although I still would really like to see Kyle Shanahan.
