Push off by Hopkins.....no call

Mitchell spins the ball, no penalty

Yeah, the refs are clearly controlling these games. Helmet to helmet. Hopkins hands to the face. Odunze also was held on the long throw to Duvernay.

Every week, the officials shape the game.

This is the defense without forcing turnovers. Hard to blame them but Huntley is not an NFL starter and pretty much did whatever he wanted all game.

Offense still looks out of sync. Swift had 11 carries after back-to-back 100-yard games. Game was not out of hand until the last drive, so why abandon the run game that was so successful?

Too much bad all around. Even without the TD after the INT, the defense still allowed 23 other pts to Huntley. Not good.

The offense and Williams are still playing bad. I don't know what is going on, but Loveland gets 2 catches, then 1 for the rest of the game. Swift only had 11 carries. Williams had the 2 intentional grounding penalties, the bad INT, and several other inaccurate passes.

Was thinking earlier in the game are the Bears simply a “paper tiger” contender?

Their defense hangs out near the bottom of most categories (aside from TOs), the offense ‘scores 21 in every game’ but barely win against the Raiders and the Commanders save for the last minute special teams heroics?  And they barely lose against Minny early on who have since collapsed on themselves.  Aside from the lopsided win against Dallas earlier, things haven’t been all that rosy.

Still think the fault lies somewhere between scheming and execution.  Gotta lean in Johnson’s favor (only by a sliver).  He made changes to the running game during the bye and that improved dramatically after that.

As far as execution goes that mostly is on Caleb.  Although the play calling and not doing things like involving your #1 pick this year and less running is inexcusable.

The only reason the offense had that streak of 21+ points is because of the turnovers. The sheer amount of possessions they've gotten per game allows them to score points, even though they always settle for FG's. Frankly, they should be scoring 30+ with as many takeaways as they've gotten. QB play and penalties have killed them all year.

Was just gonna say the Phoenix that is Justin Fields leads the Jets to their first win.

Right, in week 8.

People who are waiting to prove that JF is actually a good NFL QB are going to be disappointed. He just isnt.

And not because of me. I have nothing to do with it. If youre hoping to prove me wrong, it's certainly possible! But not with this particular subject.

The only reason JF even started today was because the backup got hurt.

There is some weird cult of personality around Fields - probably because he is such a great runner. But hes not an NFL QB. It's not hard to make this claim at this point. It's not really an opinion?

This was a bad game for Caleb, Johnson and the whole team. No doubt about it. Terrible.

Don’t overthink it.  Just highlighting the guy who’s had a few crappy weeks lately.  As a long time Bears fan I’m accustomed to root for the underdog.

Ah ok - well I think Fields is a good guy and a good athlete.

I thought you were directing the comment to me based on the longstanding discussion of JF. If youre just rooting for the underdog - thats downright kind!

We are not going to be a good team until we clean up the penalties. We have no control over bad ref calls and they are real. Every time we had some consistency, a penalty killed a drive, took us out of the red zone and threw off any continuity we had obtained. Gave them life and allowed them to move down the field.

We had two DL go down early in the game so that affected how our defense performed later in the game. We were fairly effective in the run game but  let Caleb do to much. With all the potential he has, he makes to many mistakes. Saying all this, we were in the game at the end. We have to play to perfect to win these type of games.

Caleb is suppose to be the unicorn that raises the players around him and he keeps coming up short.
