Beg to differ.  Brees threw for 5,000 yards in five seperate seasons.  All before the NFL went to 17 games in 2021.

And point taken about “never being done” …for Chicago.  It is a record to be noted considering it’s for one of the founding teams of the NFL.

The point isn’t what HoF QBs have done in domed stadiums.  People saying 17 games makes it easy for Caleb to hit 4k is just a back handed insult by implying that almost any QB could do that.  Yet nobody ever has.  Maybe it does take a special QB to hit that mark while playing half the season in windy Soldier Field?  It certainly takes someone with a strong arm.

I’m confident Caleb will rewrite the Bears record books and exceed 4000 multiple times in his career.  Even if Caleb becomes as good as Brees I doubt we’ll see the 5000 yard threshold ever met while playing at Soldier Field.

Brady only hit 4K once in his first 7 seasons.  Caleb will hit it, and I am sure he will consistently hit it, but if he doesn't, I don't think it is the biggest deal. There are a lot of bad QBs that have hit 4K, so that alone is not the measure of success (Matt Schaub, Brad Johnson, Trent Green, Carson Wentz, Ryan Tannehill, Josh Freeman, Jon Kitna).

Notable QBs in top 50 all-time:
Elway's best season: 4,030 Passing Yards
Esiason's best season: 3,959 Passing Yards
Montana's best season: 3,944 Passing Yards
McNabb's best season: 3,916 Passing Yards
Aikman's best season: 3,445 Passing Yards

I just hope he hits it, gets 270+ so we can finally move onto other discussions.

If not this year but next year. With 11 wins and playoff bound, plenty other things to talk about.

Aikman does not belong in that group. Always has been overrated.

He and Emmitt Smith both benefited from that Offensive Line. They were unusually stacked because of the Herschel Walker trade.

Also, Aikman is going to regret getting into a tussle with Caleb.

I lived in Texas and watched a lot of Aikmans first season in the NFL.  He was nothing close to Caleb in his first season. Both had bad teams around them and bad coaches.  Aikman threw 18 INTs.  Now that I went and looked it up his career completion % was just 61%.

Aikman wasnt a bad QB, but he doesnt make anyone's top 10 greatest either. Caleb has the possibility to be a top 10 QB. It's not guaranteed or anything, but he looks like he is on his way.

QBs come and go and every once in a while, an Aaron Rodgers pops up. We now could have that next great one playing in our house. Thank you Ryan Poles for Caleb and BJ, I think we won the lottery.

The only reason I care about 4000 yards, is so people can shut up about it.  4k yards is such an unimportant stat.  If you look balanced offenses; passing, rushing, sustained drives and TOP matter.  We do well and are improving on those.  When we get better in the red zone the offense will be unstoppable.

Yeah, get the 4K, then it becomes a non-story. Then we can talk about 5K lol.

Yessss!

I don't care as much about stats as some fans do but I would like Caleb to get 4000, DJ, Loveland and Burden to get over 700. Then that conversation can leave our fandom.

To me, the 4k number is meaningless if he doesn't do it in 16 games. Same with the Kramer record. The extra game negates the achievement, in my opinion.

Regardless, I don't really care about it anymore, because he'll do it at some point with Ben Johnson. Right now, the focus should just be on winning the game and securing the 2 seed.

The question I have is, has the plan changed for this week's game?

When BJ insisted we had plenty to play for (#2 seed and home field advantage), it was assumed we would need to win our game against Detroit this weekend to secure it. The news is that Philadelphia will rest its starters against Washington. If BJ sees Philly losing, will he start pulling his starters as the game progresses? If he does, we may not win, but a Philly loss will still secure the #2 seed for the Bears.

Personally, I'm greedy. I want the 12th win. To go from 5-12 to 12-5 would be awesome.

Plus, revenge against Detroit would sweeten the deal.

The Commanders are on their 3rd string QB and probably resting guys, too. It's totally conceivable Philly will win that game even if most of their starters don't play.

The only way he should pull the starters is if the Bears are winning by 3 or more scores in the 4th quarter and have the game in hand. Ben mentioned in the other day, you want to go into the playoffs on a high note, not on a 2 game losing streak.

100%. Momentum going into the playoffs is important.

Herm Edward's said they are football players, let them play.  If you want to give a player a week off start with the older vets.  Does Thuney need a week off? He is about the only one we might be able to spare but I think he would go no matter what.

Not much experience but I played one year in college and after I got hurt, I wanted to play. Smarter people controlled the room. Mongo did you ever play hurt? Let them play, give Rome limited snaps. Limited snaps for the old folks. Do what ever it takes, not to lose.

Watching SF and Seattle. So Seattle will have to play LA or SF again at home. An upset in their first game would give us home field for the NFC championship game. Of course we have to win to get there. I like our chances.

So we just hung 38 on the SF D that only gave up 13 to the seahawks.

And the 49ers only managed 3 points against Seattle's pass rush.

And the moral of the story is that if we had a pass rush, we'd be Superbowl favorites.

Teams are 2-13-1 after playing the Bears too.

They is a sign of a physical team and is not just a fluke.

Wright has been getting burnt a lot. I wonder if Stevenson will get more reps?

you could really see it in the tempo we came out in against the Packers. Wow.

We are a physical team, and it's just gonna get more so when we have a D line.
