Kyler Gordon

Featured Replies

He’s doing sprints / makes you wonder if frustration with Bears is - they look at that and see someone who should be on field but he just isn’t there or isn’t quiet willing to trust his body to make that final push. Clearly he is not aligned with the staff.

I actually was glad to see this video cause it in some way shows a bit of a fight back like hey I do care and I am working…which is more than I could say about Nate Davis.

One day After Poles kicked him to the curb Kyler send out this video. I don’t think this means he’s close to returning I just find it odd he’s training in bare feet

I was waiting for this thread. Fireworks and popcorn could follow.

I hope his intentions are to be the best and wish he took the route the Bears wanted. But that did not happen and IG posts about going to Paris for fashion bring back a taste Bears fans haven't forgotten.

The PR on this aint great, and the Bears could say something but they choose not to which is a big sign. I mean i dont know anything about whats goin gon, but if you believe in the Bears, then it doesnt look good on Gordon.

At the same time the talent is undeniable. If he comes back and plays well, i suspect we will trade him and he could well have a resurgence on another team, which is fine as long as we get something good in trade for him.

It's too bad, because he is so good when he plays, but I dont think its so easy to earn Ben Johnson's trust after all of this.

Kyler has to get back on the field and ball out no matter which scenario it ends up being. If not, he's out of the NFL pretty fast, and then, dude, no one is gonna care about your podcast.

He's made enough money that he never has to work again, maybe he has Nate Davis vibes. i dunno. But the team is moving on without him whatever it is, and no matter how good he is - and he IS - it doesnt matter if youre not on the field.

It's baffling, frustrating, and obnoxious.

I remember being surprised he made the trip to Cincy when others were left behind to rehab. This video proves the Bears point that he is willing to do things on his own but not with the training staff. While Poles didn’t say that outright he alluded to it.

I thought someone asked Poles and he was working out at the training camp staff? Now maybe that is just recently and why people are noticing him around but wasnt before. I never like to rag on injured players. For anyone that has played before some play with aches and pains and some dont. He has always been a team guy before but has had some nagging injures . Clearly brass in not liking the situation but he is here this year because of the cap hit to get rid of him. No one is trading for a big money player not on the field.

As Poles and Johnson have previously stated, the locker room knows. Players that want to be part of the team outwardly show it. The way the brass is handling Gordon is warning other NFL teams. Buyer beware.

My assumption is Gordon wants to feel 100% before returning and probably stops the minute he feels something. Until he gets over that mental hurdle, he is going to be stuck in this loop.

At this point, I don't even consider him part of the team anymore. If he comes back and contributes, cool, but I am not betting on it. Trapilo had a traumatic injury and recovery and is out there months ahead of schedule, and Gordon can suit up because of soft tissue without a surgery to recover from?

I have a theory that he made a pact with himself that he would be done once he got the second contract. He watched Nate Davis do it and is following his playbook. It is my dark theory and it is sad many fans have to think about this.

I hope I am wrong and he does return and plays a huge role in the Bears success. His workout videos show he rehabbing, so not sure he would be throwing hints of his progress and work to quit.

I've been having a gut feeling of the same for a while now. Yuck. To have that much talent and not want it is a shame.

More like Nathan Vasher. Didn’t we pay him some good money only to have him then play soft?

As anyone that's played before, injures are always different for each player. He is working out at Halas Hall so we can monitor his progress. I never got the impression from Gordon before that he was a soft player. Money changes your mental outlook so as it plays out, it will show if that is the problem. I think with his injures last year where he came back and wasnt 100% that he wants to make sure he doesnt have a reoccurring problem with injures and wants to make sure he's 100% before he steps on the field. Is he safeguarding it to much, probably. He has a month to completely be healed then I expect him to balls out when he does come back.

The key to the defense is can someone carry the load before he comes back. With Bryant being out , this is critical on our performance early. Ourlads has the depth chart as Cam Lewis and Blackwell as the first inline to play there. I have read Muhammad is taking snaps there but I think they will prefer a vet as to letting the rookie ride the spot early.

I am asking for your opinions, do you think we play with the 3 LB sets more? DeMarco Jackson, Devin Bush and TJ Edwards seem like a strong group and with the added speed at that spot, will it stay on the field for more snaps. Last year we were in the Nickel defense scheme 75% of the time. Maybe 60% this year?

I dont think fast LBs are the equivalent of nickel. I understand the point about hiding the deficit at nickleback with three fast LBs, but I dont think that really works. When you need nickel, you need nickel.

One related question might be were we in nickel MORE often last year because we were hiding a deficiency at speed at LB? That might be more likely, so maybe we will play less than 75% Nickel (last year), but not because we are hiding the deficit at NB, but because we ARENT hiding a speed deficit at LB?

And probably not a big effect, DA plays Nickel about 70% of the time across his career.

NFL average is 60% in nickel, so maybe there is some room for this adjustment. But probably only from 75% to 70% or something like that if at all?

Seems reasonable.

The Kyler Gordon revival tour continued today now with national press coverage compliments of Ian Rappoport. Why Rappoport is carrying water for Gordon is an unknown other than he wants access to that doctor.

Kyler Gordon Injury Update: He ‘should’ be back with the...

While the Bears didn’t address the Kyler Gordon situation, we still got an update on Chicago’s nickelback. Details here from @wiltfongjr.

“Bears standout CB Kyler Gordon, who is on IR with a calf injury, is away from the team working with his own trainer to accelerate recovery, sources say,” Rapoport shared on social media. “The plan is for Gordon to return a few weeks into the season and begin practicing shortly thereafter. Some optimism here.”

He had a follow-up post saying, “This has been a challenging recovery, and sometimes players work best honing in with their own people. That seems to be the case here. Barring a setback, Gordon should be back sooner rather than later.”

When Gordon changes teams, Rappaport will get the scoop.

And from other players with the same management too.

Was perusing Bears news and saw this story about Gordon and his “doctor”. Evidently “Doctor Mo” doesn’t really have any real medical background and allegedly has a checkered past. Jaylon Johnson sought him out some years ago (then missed several games himself) before referring him to Gordon. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/chicago-bears-injuries/123038/are-bears-kyler-gordon-and-jaylon-johnson-receiving-bad-medical-advice

I’ll wait until I see him doing that on an NFL practice field with his team and not on some kids soccer field. If he’s that capable it’s hard to understand why he can’t do that with his team.

This is some high level foolishness on Kyler Gordon's part. You cant even figure he wants to be on another team, since we are primed to make a run AND they just paid him. If he's trying to BS everyone and just not play again and keep the money, then Ok thats despicable but it MIGHT make sense. But anything else points to Gordon being a real dummy. Like a moron of epic proportions.

His only chance is to rejoin the team and play SO well that they decide they love him anyway. And Im not sure Ben Johnson can overlook something like this. For example DJ Moore was a much smaller problem, and much more productive on the field, and HE'S in Buffalo.

So Kyler - leave this phony, come back to the team. Tell them youre stupid and this guy fooled you. Tell them youll never ignore their advice again. And then go dominate on the field. You might STILL not be a Bear for long, but at least then SOMEONE would take you. What a moron.

A little edit to my earlier comment. It seems that latest video is from a DB coach not Dr Moe. That indicates Kyler is working with a variety of people to help him get back. I think that’s a good thing. At this time he’s not allowed to practice with the Bears but clearly he is already doing DB drills. His practice window with the team can open as soon as next week. The earliest he can play is week 5. Cautiously optimistic.

Kyler is liked by his teammates - this whole thing is frustrating but he is clearly working at this point and hopefully the new approach will end up working on the soft tissue issue and we get a baller for the next few years starting in a few more weeks.

All Indications seem to be pointing to him returning to practice in next 2-3 weeks.
