  2. I feel like this draft is going to be the most impactful draft since Payton and or the Butkus Sayers draft. The difference is the Bears' teams back then sucked. The Bears are adding to a 7-win team that lost 3 games they should not have, and now added two top 10 players. Comparing Odunze to guys like JSN and Olave, I actually prefer Odunze over those guys. He is going to learn so much from Moore and Allen. Bookmark this thread and come back next January when the Bears are playing in the playoffs.

From Don Banks' "Snap Judgments" at cnnsi.com: By some estimates, it's going to be a double-digit year in terms of NFL head coaching changes. But if there's any silver lining to all that impending turnover, it's that teams looking for an upgrade at defensive coordinator might find an unbelievably deep buyer's market to choose from. How so? Well, consider the potential defensive coordinator prospects if there's a bloodbath in the head coaching ranks: Wade Phillips, Romeo Crennel, Marvin Lewis, Rod Marinelli, Jim Haslett, Dick Jauron, Herman Edwards and Mike Singletary are all ex-defensive coaches who are thought to be in varying degrees of jeopardy. And then…

  4. Some trolls here are having a sad. On the other hand, real fans can take heart in the team showing improvement each week. Frankly they looked better against the Packers in week 1 than expected and then had a few games where they looked like last year's version of the Bears. Recently they've played some teams who, like themselves, aren't in the top tier of the league. But a road win is solid regardless of the opponent. And the manner in which they've won the last two games has been impressive no matter if you love Jay or not. Putting together those "captain comeback" type of drives are exactly why the Bears paid him the big bucks. Unfortunately he can't pull a w…

    1. The Bears defense has allowed as many 50-point games in the past 11 games as it did in the previous 759. 2. Chicago joined the 1923 Rochester Jeffersons as the only teams in NFL history to allow 50 points in back-to-back games. 3. Chicago’s 42-0 halftime deficit was the second biggest in NFL history. 4. Chicago has allowed more points in the first half of games (179) than the Cleveland Browns have allowed all season (172). 5. Overall, the Bears are 31st in the NFL in opposing quarterback’s rating (107.0), ahead of only the Jets (108.8). Only two teams have been worse in that category in the last 10 years. 6. Cutler’s 10 interceptions this seas…

Sounded like he had an offer from Bears and Pats - ended up choosing to reunite with Vrabel. Wish him the best. Was hoping we'd keep him. Fact we were still talking to him tells me we may still add a vet safety yet. I still think a 1yr deal with Brisker could make some sense. Maybe give him some upside with incentives and allow him to hit the market again next year.

I always liked it later in the season, between weeks 8-10, that way you can rest some players for the stretch run. I also like playing the following week at home, that way you essentially get an extra day (no travel). This year we have our Bye in Week 6, a little early for me, but at least we play at home the following week. For comparison, Green Bay has their Bye in Week 10, Minnesota in Week 11, and Detroit in Week 5. All three teams play on the road the following week. Every team also plays one Thursday game.

Since it’ll be a few days until we see the Bears play again...how about this? Parkey set to sign with Titans after Santos let go. Wasn’t that nearly the same route the Bears took last year? https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2019/10/07/cody-parkey-cairo-santos-kicker-tennessee-titans/3903660002/

New Super Bowl predictions? Coach most likely to be fired soon? DROY? OROY? Comeback POY? MVP? DPOY? I'll say: (I said Jets/Packers before the season) but I'll change to Jets/Falcons. DROY: Earl Thomas, Seattle. I believe he has 4 or 5 INT's this year already. OROY: Sam Bradford, Rams. No explanation needed. Comeback POY: I'll say Urlacher. He's been good. MVP: Peyton Hillis. I know it's a longshot since the Browns have been average, but he's been unreal. DPOY: Mathews. Yes, he's a Packer, but he's insane.

Now that we're 4 weeks in, I'd like to get everyone's playoff predictions NOW and some of the awards. Let me start: AFC 1. Colts 2. Ravens 3. Patriots 4. Broncos 5. Steelers 6. Chargers NFC 1. Giants 2. Saints 3. Vikings 4. 49ers 5. Bears 6. Eagles MVP: Peyton Manning (special mention: Peterson, Brees, Flacco, Eli Manning, Cutler) OROY: Mark Sanchez (special mention: Knox, Moreno, Garcon, Harvin, Stafford) DPOY: Elvis Dumervil (special mention: Allen, Revis, Rhodes)

Just a dumb mans opinion. Offense- D No where do I see anything that I can hang my hat on going forward. QB play has been at best below average. One good quarter and the rest below average. I don't care about stats or other such things. The eye test is just sad. Neither Mitch nor Daniels look like they can lead a team to the playoffs or a long run once they get there. Being a game manager is just not good enough today. Sometimes you have to put the game on the QB and expect him to win the game. I have no faith in either of them doing that. The off. line is just horrible. Nothing more to say about the run game or passing game it all starts with the OL pla…

  18. 1. Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama --Assuming the Bears are selecting in the 20's, this guy would be a great pick. It's clear that Rachal isn't the answer. Spencer sucks. Louis is in a contract year. At 6'4" 320, Warmack is arguably the best OL on the best team in college football. 2. William Gholston, DE, Michigan State --The Bears have never been shy about selecting DL, and why would they? Melton's in a contract year, Peppers has been silent since week 2 it seems, McClellin is getting there (slowly), Idonije is old, and Wootton could get hurt at any time. Gholston is a freak physically (6'7" 280) who's had a down year thus far but last year was a beast. 4. Jelani Je…

Byrd promoted in coaching shuffle The Bears added a third wrinkle to the changes on the coaching staff as assistant defensive backs coach Gill Byrd was promoted to assistant DB’s/safeties coach. The club announced the move Wednesday afternoon when it also got around to officially naming Lloyd Lee the new linebackers coach, and announcing the addition of Eric Washington to the staff as an assistant defensive line coach. Byrd, a former Pro Bowl performer for the San Diego Chargers, has been on the coaching staff for the past two seasons and was elevated to assistant DB’s coach last season after serving as a quality control coach in 2006. http://blogs.sunti…

The big prize Connor Williams is still available and would be a great fit but his injury recovery really clouds the contract talks. Is Shelton gap insurance if we sign Williams? Is he gap insurance to help a rookie come up to speed?
