...and another one's gone. ********************************************************* ST. CLAIR LANDS IN CLEVELAND Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2009, 5:40 p.m. Tackle John St. Clair has opted to sign with the Browns, and to spurn the Bears. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, Biggs has agreed to terms on a three-year, $9 million deal, with $600,000 guaranteed. The Bears had offered exactly half that amount — $4.5 million over three years. But Biggs says that the contract appears to be a series of one-year deals; this suggests that sizable roster bonuses are owed to St. Clair at the start of the 2010 and 2011 league years. …

  2. At first thought I would say absolutely. But then I started to think and the evidence might tell you a little something about Cutler. Take a look. Before Cutler came into the starting lineup in 2006, Brandon Marshall had 6 rec 76 yards 1 TD through 12 games. Throughout the final 4 games of the year when Cutler came in, Marshall had 14 rec 233 yards and 1 TD. Over the course of the next two years Marshall recorded 206 rec 2590 yards and 13 TD's. So who made who? Was it Cutler or Marshall? I think Cutler was the reason for Marshall's improvement. Tony Scheffler who was also drafted in 2006, pre Cutler, he had 6 rec 75 yards and 0 TD's through the first 12 games o…

I'm still searching for OLB prospects thinking we'll be keeping this 3-4 defense under someone, possibly Fangio. Take a look at Lorenzo Carter against Notre Dame and tell me who you see. He doesn't have the sacks stats to go with a top 10 pick but neither did Floyd when we took him. It's hard to assess draft stock right now players like Carter, low production, in sacks not tackles, but high potential. He might be a good candidate if we trade back a few spots.

  4. Last year LA had a high drafted QB, a good defense(ranked 12th) They added a high profile offensive mind in Sean McVay. They added John Sullivan and Andrew Whitworth on the Oline. They added Robert Woods,/WR in FA, and drafted Cooper Kupp/WR, Josh Reynolds/WR, Gerald Everett/TE in the draft. They had left over from a 4-12 season, Todd Gurley and Travon Austin. They added Sammy Watkins by trade and ended up being the the tenth ranked offense in the league last year. Goff had 3804 yards, 28 TDs, 7 ints. and rushed for 51 yards on on 28 carries. Gurley rushed for 1305 yards-13 tds. Receiving stats Todd Gurley 64-788-6 …

  6. This will be a good game. The Redskins are improved but I don't think they are at the Bears level. This is a must-win because we are the better team. We can't afford to lose in the weak part of the schedule. We were great against the spread last year, and now we are 0-2, so just based on trends and odds, we are due to win one ATS. So I am thinking Bears 20-13, with Pineiro getting 2 more FGs and the Redskins get a late TD and a failed onside kick to give us the W. Keenum is 2-0 against the Bears, with 2 wins in 2017 with MIN. In those games he was very efficient, but with very little yards (140 and 189). He doesn't have the supporting cast like he had in MIN, so this…

So after all of this talk in the offseason, we leave training camp without an answer. If you have two QB's, you have none. My gut tells me it will be Foles based on Nagy's comments. He keeps saying it will be a tough decision, but wouldn't naming Trubisky the starter in Year 4 be easy? So if it is a difficult decision, then it has to be Foles right? That seems logical to me because if they were that close throughout training camp, the no-brainer is to go with Trubisky. So I am saying it's Foles for Week 1. How about you?

  9. Lions favored at home by a FG. Talk about a great game to bet on. The one team that Trubisky has dominated has been the Lions. I am surprised the Lions are favored by anything, but I suspect this line will crawl closer to even by game time. I say Bears 27-13.

  10. Disappointed with this, understand the need for cap space but might have been better to cut Hicks because there is still a lot of dead money.

Here it is, in a nutshell. Pace made Andy Dalton sound like the next Tom Brady and Nagy will resume play calling duties because Dalton is good enough to run the plays that are called from his back.

The Rodgers drama, now Davante Adams? This may all end up being nothing, but both of them could be gone after this year. I never saw this coming. I didn't realize he was a year older than ARob. I also didn't realize Adams has only had 2x 1000 yd seasons. He is a TD machine, but has only hit 100 receptions and 100 yards twice. The fact that they offered Rodgers a 2-yr extension to make him the league's highest paid player also speaks volumes about how they really feel about Jordan Love.

I have a feeling this SF game will determine a lot. A loss should make them sellers. However, even with a win, I would still look to move any of the following players: 1. ARob - The Bears will get a 2023 comp pick for him, probably a 3rd or 4th, but that can be negated by acquiring FAs, so the guaranteed compensation is thru a trade now. Take a 4th or 5th in 2022 if you can get it. He has been basically a waste of a roster spot s WR1. Bring up Adams or Thompson and see what happens. 2. Foles - To get anything for him and some cap relief that can carry over to next year makes sense. Obviously, you can only move one of the two backup QBs. 3. Jackson - This would b…

Foles starting, no Fields, Ifedi in, Borom out. Nagy doesn't care, so why should we? What is absolutely mind-boggling is the Bears still have a chance to finish with the worst record in the NFL. After a 3-2 start, they are 1-8 in their last 9 games. Their only win was a 16-14 nail-biter on Thanksgiving against Detroit. JAX will prevent that from happening, but man it is close. JAX and NYJ face off this week. The loser basically gets the first pick. At 2-11-1, if DET wins 2 of their last 3, they could finish 4-12-1 and if the Bears lose out, 4-13. That would be hilarious at this point. Detroit plays ATL, then SEA, then GB (who will be resting starters). I mo…

Bears should just hire Shoen and Dabol. Seriously I don’t want to over think this. Bills have drafted well, made good trades, run a good team. Don’t get cute and take the two Bills guys. Than see if Dabol can go lure Fangio to be DC :). I want Dabol building an offense around Fields. I also want Dabol bringing Ken Dorsey with him too!

  19. Hi Folks It's about that time of year to run our annual TalkBears Mock Draft, if we have people interested. Here's the general way we run it, but I'm more than happy to change based on suggestions. You get a team, you handle their draft as the GM. We can decide whether we want to allow trades or not. You get 24 hours on the clock, so sometimes picks come fast and then there's a small delay. If we start in a couple days, there's probably time to get 2 rounds in. Sadly, no one gets to be the Bears this year, since they're pickless, but that makes things easier on me. Carolina also doesn't pick til the 2nd round, so we can wait on filling that one if you're interes…
