The Bears have proven over and over they cannot evaluate QB talent. Mike Holmgren has retired here to Arizona but I think the Bears should pay him to be a QB consultant for them in the upcoming draft and/or FA. Holmgren's track record finding QBs. Or if there's anyone else out there with similar credentials get him to help. We shouldn't sit back and keep hoping we make a good decision.

IMHO this is what I think the Bears should do in the FA period if all possible. In the secondary Let M.Brown and McGowan go & get Sean Jones from Clev.and Asomugha from the Raiders Move Payne to SS and Vasher/Manning to the nickel DE see if Peppers is still there to Ogun WR get either C. Johnson. T.O or T.J. Hous, Bouldin or oneone to be the number one. Move Williams to LT, sign ST. Clair at LG move Buenning to RG and find someone to back up Tait Find a center in the draft...kruetz is getting old

per espn.com. The guy will be a star. Too bad we'll settle for a veteran FA QB or draft a QB in the 3rd-5th round.

More and more, I think we are bound to draft heavy on defense, while attacking offense in FA. Look at our last two drafts. This past year, our top 3 picks were offense. The prior year, 2 of our top 3 picks were offense. Prior to these past two years, Angelo seemed to rotate between offense and defense each year. This year, I think Angelo will be going back to defense in the draft. W/ needs (at least in Angelo's eyes) at DE, DT, SLB, CB and S, I think it makes sense to Angelo to attack defense in the draft, especially as that is his strength. While there have been unquestioned misses in FA also, his better "hits" in FA have been offense (Tait, Reuben Brown,…

Just wanted to see what your thoughts were on my newest mock draft. Trade down in the 1st, pick up a 3rd and a 5th. 1. Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee ---Before the Senior Bowl, his toughness and ability to get the QB were questioned and he was a 3rd rounder. He had a great week of practices and a great Senior Bowl. He's a late 1st-early 2nd guy now. 2. Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers ---All is quiet on the Kenny Britt front. He'll probably run a measly 4.6 40 at the combine which hopefully will help him fall here. 3. 3. Fenuki Tupou, RT, Oregon ---He's a good pass AND run blocker. He can play RT or LT. It's about time we added an islander. 3. Jairus Byrd, CB, Ore…

Holy s**t- 2 consecutive classic Super Bowl's. Fitzgerald is, hands down, the best WR in the game. Holmes is the MVP. Thoughts?

As per profootballtalk.com, in summary, Warner said he's staying in Arizona or retiring, and 1/3 of the teams in the NFL have interest in Leftwhich. This is news to Bears fans since after JA's state of the Union address, many of us have taken his comments to mean that Angelo will pursue a QB in free agency. Now Warner, the top QB in free agency, is off the market. That will drive Leftwhich's price up, since as PFT pointed out, there are a ton of teams in the NFL desperate for a QB. Early indications suggest there won't be a QB really worthy of the #18 pick. Anybody we draft won't likely provide immediate competition for Orton. I mentioned in a previ…

...and another one's gone. ********************************************************* ST. CLAIR LANDS IN CLEVELAND Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2009, 5:40 p.m. Tackle John St. Clair has opted to sign with the Browns, and to spurn the Bears. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, Biggs has agreed to terms on a three-year, $9 million deal, with $600,000 guaranteed. The Bears had offered exactly half that amount — $4.5 million over three years. But Biggs says that the contract appears to be a series of one-year deals; this suggests that sizable roster bonuses are owed to St. Clair at the start of the 2010 and 2011 league years. …

At first thought I would say absolutely. But then I started to think and the evidence might tell you a little something about Cutler. Take a look. Before Cutler came into the starting lineup in 2006, Brandon Marshall had 6 rec 76 yards 1 TD through 12 games. Throughout the final 4 games of the year when Cutler came in, Marshall had 14 rec 233 yards and 1 TD. Over the course of the next two years Marshall recorded 206 rec 2590 yards and 13 TD's. So who made who? Was it Cutler or Marshall? I think Cutler was the reason for Marshall's improvement. Tony Scheffler who was also drafted in 2006, pre Cutler, he had 6 rec 75 yards and 0 TD's through the first 12 games o…

On another board someone brought up trading Young and cutting Houston. I thought we should hang onto the both of them as I thought both had a good year. I decided to look up some numbers, and they were A LOT better than I thought. The 2 of them combined for 13.5 sacks in 857 snaps. The 13.5 sacks would have been good for 4th in the league, and for comparisons sake, Watt and Mack who were 1 and 2 in the league in sacks both played over 900 snaps. That duo was really underrated.

From profootballrumors: "Though Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan has said he is not “actively pursuing” a trade involving defensive ed Muhammad Wilkerson, Cimini says the Bears are a “team to watch” as the draft approaches, noting that New York would instantly accept an offer of the No. 11 overall pick. Wilkerson, who was designated as the Jets’ franchise player, can be assigned the franchise tag again in 2017, essentially allowing Gang Green to lock him up for $34.5MM over two years." I love the idea of getting him and signing him to a long term deal. We have plenty of cap space and he will only be 27 in October. That being said, I hate the idea of giving up t…

Fudge Pack favored by 10? Lacy out. QB comparison (Guess who): 109-181, 1170 yards, 6.46 AVG, 10 TD, 4 INT, 5 FUM, 88.4 Rating 130-189, 1396 yards, 7.29 AVG, 6 TD, 0 INT, 3 FUM, 100.8 Rating Just thinking of postgame implications. Is Fox on the hot seat if we go to 1-6 with Minnesota and a bye looming? If we go to 1-7, does he get axed? How about Loggains? Do the Bears make any coaching changes if we lose against GB or MIN or both? We are 2-9 in out last 11 games dating back to last season (or 3-10 in our last 13).

I've been thinking about the concept of cohesion via draft lately. With this draft, there are several scenarios where players could be drafted to create immediate cohesion, assuming that type of bond carries over to the pros. Do you believe it works? Or does the NFL speed/ability difference make the cohesion of rookie opponents negligible? For instance, if the Bears were to draft: RD2: Sidney Jones, CB, Wash RD3: Budda Baker, S, Wash RD4: Kevin King, CB, Wash or RD1: Mitch Trubisky, QB, UNC RD4: Ryan Switzer, WR, UNC or RD1: Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama RD3: Tim Williams, OLB, Bama RD4: Eddie Jackson, S, Bama RD5: Dalvin Tomlinson, DE/NT…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/...5-million-deal/ Report: Bears, Mike Glennon to sign three-year, $43.5 million deal Posted by Michael David Smith on March 9, 2017, 7:37 AM EST Getty Images The Bears and Mike Glennon appear to be on the verge of a deal that will make Glennon the team’s starting quarterback, at a salary that sounds like a lot but is lower than most starting quarterbacks make. Glennon is expected to get a three-year deal with an annual average of $14.5 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. That puts Glennon’s total deal at $43.5 million, although there’s no word on how much of that is guaranteed and no other details abo…

http://walterfootball.com/draft2017charlie.php 1-Jonathan Allen DE- The 5T can really tip the scale for making Chicagos front 7 elite 2-Deshaun Watson QB- they feel he is still over drafted here, but it would be a steal in my book 3-Zay Jones WR- With the loss of AJ and unknown of White, I can see this pick. Would be ok 4-Jeremy Sprinkle TE-Early on I was big on Sprinkle as all around TE 4-Brenden Langley CB-Dont know much on him but seems like a good prospect. I didn't catch were Jordan Leggett went, but could pair him up with Watson if he is available. Would also consider OLB or S round 3 if a stud is still there.

It seems rumors are now building that we're likely taking a DB at #3. That's an exceedingly easy rumor to throw out there given the talented options in Adams, Hooker, and Lattimore match very well with the Bears needs. Many draftniks in the media have had us taking Lattimore for the last couple weeks. I'd say Adams is 2nd most frequent selection but that's still close to number of folks who still have us drafting Jonathan Allen. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2703486...-draft-and-more Based on what I recall here's the history of the most popular players for our pick in order of most popular... January: Jabril Peppers/Allen February: Allen, Tr…

Which player would you regret NOT drafting if we can fast forward two years after this draft. Looking for the player that by 2019 is a probowler or our biggest difference maker. Asking for the regret because a prospect can develop into a better pro than his slotted draft rank or may not even be one of our current needs.
