So maybe we were a little too hasty to let Slauson go after all. It looks like we could've really used his depth inside, especially if Grasu falters.

I have not been the biggest fan, mainly due to his lack of range, but his kicks tonight with the wind and the onside kick were amazing. This was arguably the best game of his career.

6 for 6 over 50 yards (3rd-T), 92.0% FG% (10th), 95.5% XP%, 9th in Touchbacks, has only missed 3 kicks all season out of 47. The Bears need to extend him.

#5 Utah vs #23 Cal I believe college Game day is in Utah, should be lots of media hype. Big stage, pressure packed game against the highest ranked Pac 12 team. Lets see if Goff can handle it. Utah is suppose to have a pretty good defense too. If he plays lights out the media buzz around him is only going to get bigger.

There's not a lot of info about Hanie's abilities so I thought I'd post this from the Bears' website. Sounds a little like the next Rex Grossman but 2in taller. However, despite those INTs, if he did have that much of a lack of talent around him then completing 64% of his passes is pretty good depending of course on the system they ran at Col State. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalkStory.asp?story_id=4660 During the draft I heard Mel Kiper Jr. say that Caleb Hanie had the second strongest arm of the quarterbacks this year next to Joe Flacco. What is the scouting report on Caleb and what were his college statistics? Brent S. …

Higher than I expected to be honest. Considering Goff is lower, and only Daniels is higher as a 2nd year QB. So Maye, McCarthy, Penix are all lower.

Caleb was on the St Brown Brothers podcast. He said he wants a leader of men, offensive guru and someone that matches his aggressive nature. Near the end he all but said he wanted Ben.

I love Justin Fields and think he is going to be a good QB. I woke up listening to the SCORE this morning and the sports DJ , a former Chicago guy, now working in Cleveland has made the best case for our QB situation. 4042-26-5. That is a good season for a QB. Alex Smith was a good QB and KC drafted Mahomes anyways. He sat him for a yr and then Mahomes got his shot. Poles came from KC. No matter how you want to look at it Justin , he is not going to be Joe Burrows, Williams has the chance to do that. You dont have to hate Justin Fields like half the fan base to think another QB can be better. The DJ used Baker Mayfield as an example, Cleveland drafted him to be the …

I’ve never been so pumped and excited about having a quarterback the caliber of Caleb Williams since the Super Bowl Shuffle - 46 quarterbacks since then. I was happy about Justin Fields when we moved up to get him. I truly thought we have our “It” quarterback. Now, three years later, Fields is not “It.” He doesn’t have the vision of a quarterback. Picking Williams on the first pick will turn around the Chicago Bears’ misfortune of having bad to mediocre to good quarterbacks. Finally, we’ll have an “It” quarterback.

Week 1 - 28.3 Week 2 - 21.6 After 2 weeks, at 24.2, he is 2nd to last in the NFL, only ahead of Bryce Young. Bo Nix is at 35.7 and Daniels is at 46.8 Williams needs to step it up as QBR is a huge predictor of future success. Comparatively, Fields ended his rookie year at 31.4, Zach Wilson at 33.4, and Lawrence at 39.1. Williams PFF Grade is a 44.3, the lowest of any Bears offensive players and 2nd lowest of any player. Only Booker is lower at 42.9.

I don't really see a logical thread for tracking Williams progress. I'm was actually shocked as I read this. They certainly don't appear to be holding anything back with Williams. He's going to experience it all and that means they think he can handle it and they want him ready for anything in game 1. I figured first day in practice it's going to be kid gloves type of stuff like we've always seen before. There are more tidbits in the article that further highlight improvement with Williams since the OTAs. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/bears-training-camp-report-saturday-july-20-caleb-williams-offense-play-of-the-day-injury-health-update Rookie qua…

I just read an interesting article on si.com stating there has been misinformation about CW's fumbling issues. We've been talking about his 30+ fumbles in three years of college. According to the quote below (I assume it is correct), he really hasn't had nearly as much a problem holding onto the ball as the good old internet pundits have cried. I will have to check it out. But if true, one less thing to worry about.

This should be fun. Caleb Williams needs to grow the F up. He showed me too many plays yesterday that showed prophetic to his draft critics. For starters, his head clock is killing him. His feet get happy too soon and inaccuracy follows. I don't see him as the guy that's willing to take the extra millisecond and take a hit. If he is willing, the flight mechanism is overriding his intent. You could clearly see that, especially the sidearm throw to DJ in the end zone. He saw it and nuked the throw in a rush. Cooler QB's loft it out there. Situational awareness needs to be a huge trait of a QB. Caleb showed me several times that he doesn't get it. He cos…
