He's fast and that was a speedy exit. Nagy says there was too much competition. I say for that much athletic talent to get cut this early he had to be lazy in meetings, study habits, or in the training room not rehabbing like he should. Or perhaps all 3. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/practice-notes-another-fight-emanuel-hall-gets-cut-and-more-bears-first-practice-back-halas

Thought this was interesting, since there were only three GMs there. Maybe a long look at Robert Woods (who was reportedly very impressive) or Khalid Holmes?

What if Emery is smarter than you think? First off, he graded McClellin above other DE end options because "He showed us some natural things that the other ends did not show us to as high a level," Emery said. "His ability to bend, his pad level, to get from blocker to ball, to close the gap as quickly as possible … we felt was better than most of the rest of the class." SO straight up we liked this kid better than the others. It was said that GB and New England were looking at him too, so maybe Emery saw something. But there's more. Emery kept praising his versatility. In this article, Dan Pompei hints at it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/…

Buried at the end of this article is a line about how Emery wanted SMC moved to LB back when Smith was still in town. ---------------------------------------------- http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...s-trade-for-suh But I think what a lot of folks don’t know is that, according to sources, Emery actually wanted that transition to take place a lot sooner, but Smith was reluctant to move McClellin to linebacker. ---------------------------------------------- If true it seems to indicate that SMC was somewhat of a Lovie choice although that does not absolve Emery at all for the pick. He had other options on the board at the time in Chandler Jones …

Not a ton of news...Theres a good chance we draft a QB at some point. There are already teams wanting to trade up with us supposedly. They're still looking at Izzy and others to sign to the roster. They supposedly like Garza at OC. He was disappointed with the arrest of ERod.

http://my.chicagotribune.com/#story/chi-em...-move-20130101/ Thought he was clear and has a vision on the type of upbeat coach he is looking for. Forget the 3-4, he would have to be convinced this current roster can be converted for that. He wants a coach that can be creative and make plays that fit the talent we have.

Going into this draft I think about Emery+Trestman vs. Angelo+Lovie. If it were still Angelo and Lovie, I'd wonder a few things: 1) Would Lovie be making all the picks but one like usual? 2) Would he be ignoring his scouts and overall team needs to placate a coach? 3) Which pool-jumping dickhead is on his radar? 4) Which small school DB are they enamored with? With Emery and Trestman, I don't feel like that. I feel like they've done their due diligence and are going to draft the BPA at position of need unless BPA is too ridiculous to pass. Just look at the last two drafts: 2012 w/ Lovie 1-Shea McClellin - The obvious need was OL (Riley Reiff and…

It will take the end of the season or maybe two years from now to judge what Emery is doing now, but I has to give him kudos for having a plan. He is systematically filling our needs with resigning or someone new. The biggest one is not signing the great Brian Urlacher, which in my opinion, is a good move. He is one year older and injury prone, and not up to par anymore. We filled his spot with a risk but with upside. A productive player until last year, Williams has something to prove. He will never be Urlacher in his prime years but tons better than Urlacher 2013. Anderson is a better choice than Roach,so at least on paper this looks like an upgrade. We got a cheap QB o…

Now I want to start this by saying the team still could technically win a championship this year, but losing 4 of the last 5 is no way of gaining momentum to achieve such an accomplishment. 2012 offseason: TRADE: Marshall RE-SIGN: Jennings, Idonije EXTENSIONS: Briggs, Forte SIGN: Costanzo, Weems, Bush, Campbell, Rachal, Hayes, Wilhite, Hayden DRAFT: McClellin, Jeffery, Hardin, Rodriguez, Frey, McCoy I realize it's extremely tough to criticize a draft 8 months after it takes place, but their draft has the potential to go down as horrible. Rodriguez is too small to play TE and so he plays out of position at FB. At the moment, Conte and Wright are soli…

Though I'm reluctantly excepting the switch to a 3/4 since there really is nothing I can do about it except whine, Emery's guaranteed money to Allen,Houston and Young is going to handicap this team when it comes to producing more D-linemen for this scheme. This combined with whatever money is going to the young draft choices makes me wonder how much money do you tie up on a DL?

I know this has been discussed before, but may be news to some: http://www.sbnation.com/2014/12/30/7467853...li-bruce-arians Basically Marinelli was in charge of interviewing new HCs, Arians was first choice, Bevell 2nd, and Trestman a distant 3rd. Emery went against Rod's recommendation and the rest is history.
