According to Fansided the Bears and Cutler restructured his deal on Tuesday freeing up $5 million in cap space. Spotrac shows his deal with a column called Restructure Bonus. See here for Spotrac: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/jay-cutler/ See Fansided article here: http://fansided.com/2015/03/25/chicago-bea...-without-agent/ I think Fansided may be wrong since this is the only place reporting it. Jay restricted his deal LAST YEAR at about this time to do exactly what Fansided is saying is happening now. So, I'm confused unless he's done the same type of restructure two years in a row.

George McCaskey met with the the media and explains why he signed off on the deal after first saying no and then McDonald on his own flew in to meet with him and convinced George of his sincerity and he says that there are only 3 players that he as chairman got involved in the personnel matter and that is B Marsh, Sam Hurd and Ray McDonald.

@patrickfinley: Interesting that John Fox today said Alshon Jeffery was overweight at times last year. @ianrappaport Jay Cutler met with #Bears personnel without his agent as deadline approached for guaranteed money in 2016. Team left convinced he’s the guy and are now considered fanboys @adamjahns #Bears coach John Fox said Shea McClellin will get first look at inside linebacker in 3-4. He said he was high on him coming out in draft.

The way I see it there are 12 realistic DL combinations right now: 1 Allen Ratliff Sutton 2 Allen Ratliff McDonald 3 Allen Ratliff Young 4 Sutton Ratliff McDonald 5 Sutton Ratliff Young 6 Young Ratliff McDonald 7 Allen Ego Sutton 8 Allen Ego McDonald 9 Allen Ego Young 10 Sutton Ego McDonald 11 Sutton Ego Young 12 Young Ego McDonald If Allen happens to stand up as an OLB, then that narrows things down on the DL, but it severely muddies the waters at OLB. However, here are the potential LB combos: 1 Allen Bostic Greene McPhee 2 Allen Bostic Jones McPhee 3 Allen Bostic Foster McPhee 4 Allen Greene Jones McPhee 5 Allen Green…

  7. Listening to Bill Polian today on ESPN,who knows a thing or two about drafting for a 3-4 scheme he said that he felt the Bears would bring a veteran in on every level of the defense that knows the scheme and will help with the transition. He was spot on and this was before the signing of Foster. This is clearly looking like they are adding depth and competition in the front 7 and still need help in the secondary at corner. Although a few mocks are starting to project Cooper to the Bears and I would love that but, selecting Waynes would be a long term move for the defense. At 7 he may be the BPA that the Bears do need also.

If that is what Wiz is looking for, than I would have to think at some point, the Bears and Wiz could work out a long-term deal. At 26, he would be a significant upgrade in the middle of our line and I am more than fine paying a C 4M per year longterm.

Can you imagine a scenario where DL goes hot and heavy before the Bears pick? 1. TB – Jameis Winston, QB, FSU 2. TEN – Leonard Williams, DT/DE, USC 3. JAX – Dante Fowler, DE, FLA 4. OAK – Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, NEB 5. WAS – Danny Shelton, NT, WAS 6. NYJ – Marcus Mariotta, QB, ORE What then? My thought here is, do the Bears take the 4th best pass rusher with the #7 pick in the draft? I don't like that idea. Assuming no trade down possibilities, I'm thinking they have to go Bama with either Collins or Cooper.

  13. The NFL announced they were turning Chicago into draft-town or something like it. Does anybody here care? I could make it a point to at least visit the festivities if I wanted but I have zero interest. I love going to training camp each year. I'll be following the draft for 3 days straight. But I have no interest in visiting. Is it just me or does anybody here care?

I am trying to get into Paces mind with what his plan is , he is quite secretive with his decisions. So what we know: I think the draft will be his big day with several trade downs to acquire more picks. He targeted S,OLB and WR in FA and we made our splash. We will be signing several low cost FAs but there will be no more expensive FAs. projected acquisitions (Hakeem Nicks/WR-Red Bryant/DE-DT--Tarell Brown/CB-CJ Wilson/DE) I think, as they evaluate our roster that we have some prospects that can play.(reason for low activity in FA) As far as the dra…

Obviously there's no way to know exactly how much say Fangio had in the drafts when he was in SF, but he had to have some say, right? So I figured I'd take a look at the defensive players they drafted. One big difference in looking at this is the fact that SF was already running a 3-4 when he got there and they already had Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman and Justin Smith (to name just a few). 2011 1 - Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri - 6'4" 263, 4.78 3 - Chris Culliver, CB, South Carolina - 6'1" 201. 4.40 6 - Colin Jones, S, TCU - 5'11" 200, 4.34 7 - Curtis Holcomb, CB, Florida A&M - 5'10" 184, 4.47 2012 5 - Darius Fleming, LB, Notre Dame - 6'2" 245,…

In terms of improving the team since last season, have the Bears not had the best offseason of any team in the division? GB has actually lost a lot of their depth and some key vets (Williams, Hawk, House, etc). So even though they re-signed Cobb and some others, at this point they are slightly worse than last year. Detroit has taken a massive step backwards losing Suh and Fairley and only gaining Ngata (who is older). Minnesota had a slight upgrade going from Jennings to Wallace, but the biggest swing will be in regards to what happens with AP. With their other roster losses (Felton), they probably are even at this point. With every team expected to improve th…

  18. i don't watch college football much anymore since the BCS destroyed the sport so i have a couple of questions for you knowledgeable people who follow college prospects into the draft. what does next years class of prospects look like for premium top 10 draft players at these positions: QB, LOT, CB, and finally DE? i know it's early and a LOT can happen during a year, but are there any really good looking players that will become eligible in next years draft? the reason i ask... IF there are some primo players in next years draft at those positions i would strongly like the bears to trade out of the #7 spot down, or way down, in the first round by swapping …

It's almost that time of year again, and like ever year, I ask what your nightmare draft would be. 1. Mariotta, QB, Oregon - I would hate a QB in the 1st. Additionally, I don't think he's going to pan out. I think he'll be average at best. This would destroy the locker room. 2. Gurley, RB, UGA - Injury prone RB to serve as a backup, and may not even beat out Carey for #2. I'd hate this because it would mean the current staff are moving from Forte. 3. Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford - Saw him up close and personal. Never really stood out. Small school DB...smells like a Lovie pick. 4. Senquez Golson, CB, Miss - He's listed at 5'9", but I'm pretty sure he wa…
