Well, we're 2 pre-season games into the new season and we seem to have more questions than we may have initially thought... I also have noticed an abundance of "I told you so's" and "don't be negative's" flowing quite heavily. Heck, I'm personally guilty of both things to some degree! I was one of many who claimed that we shouldn't go so heavy after OL in the draft. While I thought we would make splashes in FA (Faneca), I was still sure the OL wouldn't be that much of an issue. I seldom believe all that is reported in practice sessions by the coaching staff. You never hear negatives. Everything is superlative adjectives. Every player sounds like a future hall of famer. A G.O.A.T. That is until it is time to cut the roster down. However, on occasion you hear something that is factual and not subjective. I find this quote from ChicagoBears.com very encouraging in regards to J Fields progress: To me, on his first day working with the team, that's amazing!

With the Bears finishing 5-12 last year makes it feel like a herculean effort to even get to a winning record at 9-8. However, turn arounds with much more wins are almost commonplace nowadays. Last year alone, 3 of the top 9 teams in the NFL all had a win differential of +6 from the previous season: WAS 4-13 > 12-5 (+8) MIN 7-10 > 14-3 (+7) LAC 5-12 > 11-6 (+6) I feel like there is less correlation from year to year than ever before. I had an interesting conversation from a person that spent some time with the team. I'm not naming my source, but... On Trestman: Knows offense like crazy. Runs an ultra soft camp. Players were actually lobbying to hit more. Some pleading to the staff that they needed contact. Practices lacked intensity. Offense completely dominated the defense. On talent: Cutler is a stud. ...isn't it? To read all the KFFL, PFT, etc. blurbs about guys visiting teams and not see the Bears mentioned once? I just wish JA would show a bit more movement. We do have holes and there are players out there that can help. My gosh, are we painting ourselves into acorner for the draft or what?
