I am pulling for this guy to resign with us. I would still like us to pick up another FA for the OL in addition to signing Miller. Miller, as I said before, played pretty good for us until last year. Last year he played injured and it was not pretty. If now healthy, what better way to provide quality backup to our OL than with a player who could step in from day one, knows the system, knows the players, and would provide continuity? We need to look at the overall off-season to see what Poles has accomplished this year. Got the best coach on the market and spent good money on assistants. Added to both lines with quality additions. Added contracts for Gordon and Jackson who were on last years. The draft gave us 4 quality players in the first 4 picks. 2 potential all pro types and 2 first year contributors. The rest of the draft gave us high risk high upside players. After the first quarter of the season, we are through the toughest part of the schedule, which was expected. Most had us at 1-3 after 4 anyway. Now it seems like we shift into an easier quarter of the season, currently scheduled to play teams with a combined record of 5-10. We should at least split, if not go 3-1 in the next 4. That would put us between 3-4 at the halfway point. Then we go into a tougher quarter playing teams 11-5, and 1 win seems to be the most realistic outcome (though we could split depending on what STL team shows up). We have free agents added and soon will add several draftees to the team, but I think one thing we have over looked the the potenial of 2nd year players taking giant steps forward. with the injuries to Goldman in his two first years , a healthy year will add a lot to he strength of the DL. Hicks was a stud on the DL last year and he probably takes a step back but Bullard did not contribute anything his first year. I think this year we see him add bulk ,strength and a lot more contribution to the team. I was thinking we can do a Talkbears consensus pick for each selection up until the Bears pick. No trades, etc. I will then remove the selected player and make another poll until we get to 14 (hopefully before the real draft). If it goes quick, we can go beyond and have two mocks to compare on draft day. The minimum will be 20 total votes or 10 votes for one player to move on. I am curious to see how this plays out.

The best way to try and gauge how Pace will draft is to see how the Saints drafted while he was there and how both Denver and SF drafted with Fox as well as Fangio in SF some stats. Since our defense sucks, and the offense is close to being very very good, how about it we sold out on defense and continued building the offense first. Grab a star TE in the first round and a OC in the second and then draft defensive players the rest of the draft? Pick up free agents to fill defensive spots, and bring back some of our own players? This is out of left field thinking but if we get two TE options and improve our oline and let the the defense suck with mild improvement. what do you think.
