Prospect A. (+)Has all the intangables and leadership qualities. Tough and plays through pain and takes command of the team. Strong arm and can complete all the intermediate routes. Decent mobility and can throw accurate on the run. (-)Doesn't shine at any physical aspect, but not poor at any either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prospect B. (+)Has it all from a physical standpoint. Perfect height and weight for a QB and can take a hit. Is athletic enough to avoid the rush and buy time in the pocket. Can make all the throws and has great arm strength. On the website FootballsFuture.com there is an interesting article/post from a guy who likes to make this prediction every year entitled Projecting the 2008 Compensatory Picks. He is saying he projects the Bears will get 3 7th round picks. Interesting information on how the picks are awarded. 3 7th rounders would be nice. Every year there are players every team are rushing to sign because they feel they could be worth a tryout but were not drafted. This would give the Bears a chance on taking a flyer on 3 of those players without having to compete for them after the draft is over. Never know what you may find.

from Profootballtalk.com http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ URLACHER WAS GOING TO CHANGE POSITIONS Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2008, 11:17 a.m. We’ve continued over the past couple of days to try to find out what precisely went down between the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears regarding the whole Lance Briggs thing, which culminated this week in a finding that the Niners must forfeit a fifth-round pick and flip-flop third-round selections with the Bears. It generally has been difficult to track down information, and much of what we’ve obtained has been on “background” (a term that we still don’t fully understand because …

If the Bears draft goes as planned and they get there OLT, QB, RB, WR in the first 3 rounds and when there 4th round pick is up and these two are available, who should the Bears take? Josh Barrett S Arizona St. 6-2 223, 4.34-40 (4.34, 4.30, 4.43) Very athletic for his size, 4.35 speed at combine, in the box safety who can tackle and deliver the big hit, plays the run very well, high football IQ, and a team leader, also can drop back and cover. Tom Zbikowski S Notre Dame 5-11 211, 4.44-40 (4.44, 4.40, 4.58) Hard worker and team leader, has a high football IQ, plays the run very well, in the box safety, cover skills need some work, makes plays whe…

Reading from more and more sources that Minny is close to a deal for Jared (not of the Subway commercials) Allen. Before anyone gets their panties in a wad about why I would post this on a bears forum, let me make two points. One. This is further reason to draft OL. They already have a very strong interior w/ Kevin and Pat Williams. The addition of Allen could give Minny a very, very strong DL. I believe it was already among the best run stuffing DLs, but now it could kick it up a notch, or two, in the pass rush department. The need to upgrade the OL only goes up. Two. One reason KC supposedly is looking to trade Allen is a contract dispute. Something we…

The way I see it, the Bears QB and RB situation are nearly the same. QB: Two average starters who have done well at times, horrible at others. Nobody from other teams is scared of either Bears' QB. RB: Two average starters (and a younger guy who is outside the box), who have some good qualities, but several bad ones as well. Nobody from other teams is going to stack the box because they're afraid of the Bears' running game. So, all the talk about Mendenhall got me thinking.... What would you guys think if the Bears selected Brohm at 14? Assuming Ryan is gone, then Brohm is basically regarded as the second best QB, which is essentially what selecting…

Do you think that Benson has a chance at staying the starting RB? Who makes the team with these guys in camp. 1. Benson 2. Forte 3. Peterson 4. Wolfe 5. P.J. Pope 6. M. Lawrence Or do we try to sign someone like Barber from Dallas?

  14. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...SPT-bear20.stng Bears get injury protection from Mike Brown deal Injury history cuts safety's '08 base salary to $950K May 20, 2008 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com It's debatable whether the Bears have protection on the roster in the event veteran safety Mike Brown is injured again. There is no question, however, that the team has some protection in terms of finances after reworking Brown's contract. Brown has missed 43 regular-season games over the last four seasons -- including 15 last year after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the opener at San Diego -- and will hav…

We've only had a minicamp but this is a good sign that Hester has learned where to lineup and what route to run on plays. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalkStory.asp?story_id=4768 I totally agree with you that Devin Hester will surprise everyone at wide receiver this year. What’s your guess on how many catches and yards he’ll have? Do you think 70 catches and 850 yards is out of the question? Eric H. Monroe, Michigan I’m going to predict that Devin Hester catches 53 passes for 848 yards. I think 70 is a little high just because the Bears will try to establish a running game and also spread the ball around in the passing game t…

from profootballtalk.com: BENSON CLAIMS HE ACED SOBRIETY TEST Posted by Michael David Smith on June 9, 2008, 9:13 a.m. Bears running back Cedric Benson, whose job is in jeopardy after he was arrested for drunk driving, claims that he aced the field sobriety test after a police officer pulled him over in Austin, Texas. The Chicago TV station WMAQ reported Sunday night that Benson sent a text message to one of its reporters saying, “I aced the field test, check the video.” So far no video of the incident has been released, but an Austin police spokeswoman offered a different version of events, saying Benson was arrested as a result of poor performance in…

MARCUS ROBINSON RETIRES AS A BEAR Posted by Josh Alper on June 9, 2008, 11:16 a.m. In a move greeted with less fanfare than Brett Favre’s, wide receiver Marcus Robinson has announced his intention to retire as a member of the Chicago Bears. Robinson actually had retirement thrust upon him when the Vikings cut him on Christmas Eve 2006 after he criticized Brad Childress and others with the team. He tried to catch on with the Detroit Lions - Matt Millen never met a wide receiver he didn’t like - but they didn’t have a spot for him. Robinson spent three years with the Vikings and was with the Ravens for one season in 2003. Robinson spent five years with Chicag…

Peanut was on the SCORE tonight at 8 pm. Some highlights: - Had a Flag Football challenge for charity last week. Evidentally, Rod Wilson was a all american QB in high school and tore it up on the field. - Was very happy with his play last yr. Felt he dropped some easy picks, however, and this kept him from making the pro-bowl. - Felt that rookie salaries may be unfair in that they get money based on their play in college. I hope the NFLPA is open to addressing this during the next contract negotiations. Overall, a very good interview. One final note. He was in his car with his daughter and she kept saying she was hungry - evidentally they were on their…
