I dont understand why Cutler and Marshall are blowing smoke up Hesters ass. He will just be a special play guy, not even going to be on the field 33% of offensive snaps, but everybody is lauding him. I dont get it. Marshall pretty well wont be leaving the field, Bennett and Jeffery will be the primary Wrs on the field and then Hester. We will see more two TE sets . Where is all the snaps for Hester. There is a reason he hasnt stood out as a WR since he got here, and I dont see him being special now. A PACKAGE PLAYER, sure he can get some plays, but dont see him geting more than 35 catches in his new row. What say you.

Management needs to sit down with him and let him know that he is a reserve receiver from now on and a full time return man. I don't care what his incentives are and neither should nanagement. He is an average receiver at best. DA stepped into the starting lineup and looked 100 times better. Knox and DA should be starting with Bennett at #3 and Hester at #4. If he bitches, offer to redo his contract such that his incentives are tied to the return game going foward. Peace

  4. Hopefully Turner was watching how to use a receiver to exploit a DEF and how to take pressure off a QB. Credit the Giants D for not giving up because how frustrating must it have been to get pressure on TB only to see him dump it off to Faulk and Welker converting 3rd & long all day. I also hope Hester was watching how Welker at his size runs tight precision routes and was able to protect himself from taking big hits by getting down when there is nothing left to a play. Just imagine if Hester with all his talent was able to be utilized like Welker?

HESTER NEEDS TO REPORT BY AUGUST 5 Posted by Mike Florio on July 23, 2008, 5:46 p.m. One of the (rare) moments during which we gained some actual credibility in league circles came in 2005, when we explained that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook risked losing his ability to become an unrestricted free agent if he didn’t report to training camp by a specific date in August of that year. By all indications, Westbrook’s agent didn’t know. And Westbrook eventually showed up. Though the Collective Bargaining Agreement has been revised since Westbrook’s holdout, the provision in question still applies, and Bears receiver Devin Hester is the first guy who coul…

http://www.chicitysports.com/2009/08/07/he...centrate-on-wr/ Devin Hester isn't going to be returning kicks any longer (kicks) so he can concentrate on WR. How do you think that's going to turn out? He had 51 catches, 650 yards+, 3 TD's in his first season at WR with Orton. I expect him to do better with Cutler.

According to NFL Network.. Not that he has done much so far but he is definately the focus of the defense when on the field.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1276907.story Looks like we will be having a new KR/PR since Hester signed with the Falcons. But do you think this Chris Williams can have a big impact in the return game as Hester did. This kid runs a 4.28 40 yard dash. The Bears must have big plans for him they paid him $100,000 last year to be on the practice squad

Brad Biggs put together some nice stats about the WR last year: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/05/ca...ack_at_pla.html In the comments someone posted the number of times the players were thrown to. While that's unofficial it is amazing to see Hester had 92 passes thrown his way but ended up with a mere 51 receptions. There's a variety of reasons for that including his own learning curve but I have to believe if Cutler gives him that many opportunities his receptions will go up dramatically.

  17. LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Chicago Bears return specialist Devin Hester spent a portion of Wednesday’s practice going through individual drills with members of the secondary, and even received one-on-one instruction from defensive backs coach Jon Hoke at the conclusion of the workout. But does this mean Hester, a former collegiate and NFL cornerback, is a candidate to line up on the defensive side of the ball Sunday in St. Louis? “He’ll jump into (the drills) from time to time and get a little work in,” Bears defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said. “But there is really no news there. I’m not in the conversation business.” Hester started games at cornerback and n…

Listening to the Score this morning Mully brought up an interesting point. Why is Hester still on the roster? Only a returner paying 2.8 mil, if you trade him you dont have 833,000 in dead cap space. Bragging him up and offering him on draft day for a 5th or 6th rounder? Makes a lot of sense to me. I see a good team taking a flyer on him to put them over the top. He has not been good for the last 1 and 1/2 years but teams still treated him as such by altering there kickoffs. I see that as a possibility.
