Report: Bears-Vikings heading outdoors Posted by Mike Florio on December 14, 2010, 8:25 PM EST Though Bud Grant may not be coming out of retirement, tolerating the bone-chilling cold like an animal who has white hair not just on his head but all over his body, the Vikings will play a home game outdoors for the first time since December 20, 1981. (They lost to the Chiefs that day, 10-6, at the old Metropolitan Stadium.) Cory Roufs of 1500ESPN.com reports that the Vikings are moving forward with plans to host the Bears at TCF Bank Stadium, the home of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Per Roufs, the roof at the Metrodome can’t be repaired by Monday,…

Watching the highlight video of all his returns, and listening to Joniak make the Gale Sayers comparison, got me to thinking... Is Devin Hester already a HOF Candidate? He has literally changed the game. To me, his impact is similar to Lawrence Taylor's. Because of LT, teams now teach the tomahawk chop for the ball, and teams put a premium on LTs. The game changed as a result of his play. Can't the same be said of Hester? Has the game not changed when the Bears play? I have never seen teams purposely kick out of bounds to avoid a punt returner. I have never seen teams essentially give their opponents a 60 yard field on every kick off because the pooch i…

To all you Cutler bashers, Get a grip. The man tore his MCL and couldn't play. He got us to the NFC Championship after getting his ass kicked week in and week out. Cutler did not let us down. The only reason you are questioning his toughness is because whoever tell the FOX booth the status of injured players said his return was questionable. If they would have said he was out, there would be not a single discussion on the issue. FOX screwed the pooch by not fulfilling their media responsibility by replaying the injury. The man was hurt. If he could play, I have no doubt he would have been in there. You act like he didn't WANT to play. That is bullshit and you should …

I just thought I'd throw this out there as a final thought (a la Jerry Springer....) Jay is my quarterback. He's a damn good QB. Not great. Not yet. Maybe he will be, maybe he won't. But I will say he's the best we've had in years. I also see improvement year to year. If he keeps improving, we might be extremely dangerous for many years. I may not like Jay's propensity to throw off the back foot. I may not like some of the decisions he makes. I may not like some of the errant throws he makes. But, I love that he is a tough son of a bitch. He may not be pissing blood like Jimmy Mac or cutting his ringfinger off to play like Lott. But, he's taken about…

Figuratively, if the Bears could get 1 player from the Packers, who would you want them to get? Raji: a dominating DT who would fill an obvious missing piece in the middle of the Bears DL. Rodgers: the Bears have a QB and in the midst of tons of stars from the Packers as options, Rodgers is a long shot, but would he be worth it? Matthews: another longshot just because the Bears are a 4-3 and he feeds off being an OLB in a 3-4, but again would he be worth it? Jennings: he would immediately be the missing #1 WR the Bears have lacked for years. Bulaga: a young OT who would fill the Bears most pressing need. Other: is there someone else on your mind?

http://bearingthenews.com/?p=976 Bears in a Bind if Titans Try to Take Mike Tice by Tom Shannon Both Sean Jensen at the Chicago Sun-Times (http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2011/02/mi...n_titans_r.html) and Brad Biggs at the Chicago Tribune (http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-02...rcus-webb-bears) are reporting that the Tennessee Titans might have an interest in Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice. Some interesting aspects to this: 1) New head coach Mike Munchak was the offensive line coach there and he would certainly see Tice’s value to the team as a replacement for himself. However Tice’s value as a coordinator is debatable. Though he i…

http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1367 Trend Towards Interior Linemen May Characterize Draft by Tom Shannon I’ve long held that offensive guard is becoming a more important position in the National Football League than in years past. Bear fans need only look at their own division for one of the best example of why this is. The Minnesota Vikings spent what was at the time a fortune for a guard on Steve Hutchinson in 2006. Ever since we have watched Hutchinson serve as the key piece of what was up to last year an excellent to good offensive line. Dan Pompei writing for the National Football Post, explains why interior offensive linemen and defensive tackles h…

So it seems to me that we are going to get an OL and WR somewhere in the draft or FA this year. So who do you think it will be? http://www.kffl.com/hotw/NFL?page Bears | Looking for versatile OL Thu, 21 Apr 2011 09:20:55 -0700 Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said offensive coordinator Mike Martz and offensive line coach Mike Tice are looking for linemen that could play tackle and guard, according to Jeff Dickerson, of ESPNChicago.com. Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bears | Interested in adding big WR Thu, 21 Apr 2011 09:11:14 -0700 …

1-29: Derrick Sherrod - OT Miss State Can start right away Alt - Wilkerson DE Temple. Probably gone but i think best DL 2-62: Marvin Austin - DL Cant see the guy who hasnt played in a year going before this pick. If we go DL in 1st we get Ijana here 3-93: Greg Little - WR UNC The big guy and #1 we need. I personally love Hankerson but think hell be gone in 2nd Alt - Niles Paul - WR nebraska 4-127: Quan Sturdivant - LB UNc Great football player who "lacks" measurables I didnt want to ignore Cornerback; however i think our secondary is much better than advertised. Its the middle of our Dline that sucks. Wooten and Peppers are cornerstones an…

Sorry guys. But, I'm tired of Angelo's history of trading down in attempt to stockpile 7th round picks who don't make the team or never make an impact. Can we get a real guy, please? What's wrong with trading UP every now and then to get a legitimate impact player? It takes absolutely no courage to trade down. I heard we'll possibly go as low as 42. Really??? Just in time to ensure all top-tier O-linemen are gone. Ditto for DL and CB. But hey, we may be able to get another 3rd level, 5'8 WR! What a joke!

I've read where some qb's (Drew Brees and Eli Manning) are paying for and running team workouts. Is Cutler doing this and do you think we will be behind if the Bears are not doing this?

As per Brad Biggs: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,5687009.story He's a 31 year old former #1 pick who did almost nothing for years, then puts up 12.5 sacks for Tennessee last season. On an unrelated note, we've also been linked to wanting Cullen Jenkins from the Packers. Pending cost, both these guys have glaring red flags with inconsistency and health. I can't argue we need to upgrade the d-line. That being said, we spend an enormous amount of time, money, and draft picks on the d-line, with disappointing results.
