Granted they can split this penalty into two seasons, but I don't see the benefit of backloading this penalty with so much lost with RGIII trade. This will give new found leverage to the bears in signing jackson. If he wants to win and make good money the bears are a logical fit. If he wants to be a rich loser then he should just sign in Tampa.

Emery's first call should be to OT Eric Winston then to wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Then guard Carl Nicks. Then safety LaRon Landry. Those players fill more glaring needs and would represent a wiser allocation of funds than Williams, likely the most expensive free agent on the market. Then try to sign Kamerion Wimbley and find a good CB in FA and then draft Floyd a LB,CB

I'm going Williams. I'd rather pay the extra few million for a guy that I believe is an elite end. Just my 2 cents. Plus, I think it makes our defense that much better and should help us when it comes to going against the Lions/Packers pass attacks.

Rookie pool-------------------------4 to 5 mil Our own FAs------------------------6 to 8 mil So how much does that leave us for our big signing everybody wants? I suspect we get one big contract to work and a few fringe players.

FYI. Winston is supposedly set to visit Miami later on today.

He will be visiting the Chiefs first. Biggs indicates Bears had interest, not sure if the Marshall deal impacts it.
